    help

Anyone have more info on this rig, or a picture. This sounds crazy, but I want to see it.
  2. Wow. I never though resonance frequency would have anything to do with deployment, but that is a sound theory.
  3. Maybe something like the image I attached, so you could stow it too. Excuse the penmanship, it wouldn't let me use the text option in paint. Even if it is a very light springy plastic, it still might way the PC down though and cause hesitation.
  4. Someone should try to notify the press that BASE refers to parachuting from the objects not any form of jumping from them. This could end up being bad press and might effect the NPS stuff and all other object inquiries.

    helmets????

That's great man. I laughed a lot. Who is that in the picture anyway?
  6. Wow. That is wierd. The tail pocket seems to go up as the lines come down?
  7. I don't know a ton about it, but what has been explained to me is when they do the pie slice method it gives them the ability to line up the block and bias so that the material is as stucturaly perfect as possible. If the block is lined up incorrectly to the seems the PC will strech under load and probably oscilate. Maybe you already know this and you are asking a different question, but if not, grab one of your PC's and look at the block pattern. If you poll from corner to corner it will strech, but from flat line to flat line it won't.
  8. That's pretty brilliant. I'm not sure how the public would react if the media was there to watch 100's of people getting arrested for packing parachutes in a national park. Hopefully NPS wouldn't do it, or the public wouldn't put up with it. Edited to make the reply to 460 instead of Bert_man

    BASE game

That link still goes to the old one. For me. Could be a cache issue on my computer.
  10. Anyone think you could fight the aerial delivery bs in court if you had flared slightly high and cut your canopy away at 3ft or so? I'm assuming it is parachute aerial delivery, since they let hang gliders fly and land there.

    BASE game

There was a link to one on skydivingmovies.com on this thread: http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3304&string=base%20trailer But I don't think that is the new one?
  12. Anyone know if the record is for highest point on earth jumped, or for longest (altitude) freefall? If there wingsuit flight was better or they opened high and flew their canopy farther out, could they have gotten more altitude? If you take a list of the highest points in the world and then from the top down remove ones that aren't possible or that have high landing areas and find the highest point in the world with a wingsuit jumpable cliff and a very low landing area, that would be the longest freefall. That would be a lot of topographical comparison. Until I saw this I assumed because Trango was said to be the tallest cliff in the world that it had to be the unbreakable record. I was wrong. Turns out they broke that record in BASEclimb 2. http://www.baseclimb.com/

    BASE game

I just read this entire thread. As far as the tracking thoughts, and the fact that you had a higher than normal glide ratio, you should also consider center of gravity(COG) and the radial surface area distribution around the COG. It isn't the angle of the body like a wing that increases horizontal speed, it is the total surface area(SA) you have on one side of your COG, overpowering the total SA on the other side, and the drag that that SA creates(how the clothes move through air). Hopefully other people will comment on this, because I have no wingsuit experience and very little free fall experience. This is just physics and logic speaking, and I might be overlooking things. For some reason the trailer won't play for me. Will the player be able to rotate on all three axis' I think roll-overs and tards were mentioned, but I haven't seen any mention of D-bag. I might be a little late on these comments since this thread has been around so long.
  14. Good call. That's how I feel about quantity at the moment. I'm not going to rush unsafely, but I will move as fast as I safely can (climbing out and packing) so I can get as much quality as possible.
  15. So, was he rich and offereing you money to help him do his first base jump, or was he hoping to do a base jump to become rich? Why would doing a base jump make it so he could say he was rich? Rich in life experience? edited to remove my signature.
  16. Is that was Sabre210 was talking about? I've been reading this thinking it must be a joke. How does the canopy get to line stretch (without the railing)? Do you pull the pins/velcro your self, and then hold the PCA? If so, why hold the PCA? PCAing yourself with the railing does seem like it would work, but like you said, it could definitely become a mess. Since the bridal is shorter than your lines, if you hold on to long you pull your canopy up through the railing. Then the canopy, bridal(pins),PC has to go back through the railing and along the edge of the object on the way down. Back to the S/L though, I heard about droptests that said there was a higher potential for premature break with a 9 foot bridal, and that you could lower the chance of premature break by shortening the bridal length. I doubt you have to worry about double premature break though.
  17. I wanted to mention that as BASE#'s grow expodentially, so will experiences, and hopefully knowledge. Hopefully the expodential growth of knowledge and experience will slow the rate of expodential grown in the list.
