I landed a mainly F-111 but partly ZP canopy, dacron lines and I'm not sure what the container is made of in oily salt water. The salt content is probably pretty low because it is an inlet from a sound, but it is used for boat traffic and I could feel the oil on me and the canopy after climbing out. I have cold water running on it in the shower right now and I'm hoping someone can give me helpful info tonight if they see this. I won't be able to contact the manufacturer until tomorrow morning. I searched oil, salt and petroleum and read up, and from what I read clean oil is not a problem, but contaminated oil can be a huge problem and can degrade the nylon. I saw that I should use woolite naphta or rubbing alchohol to clean ZP, but it didn't say if that was ok to use on F-111? Thanks for any help you can give me. I know how to deal with salt water, but the oil is freaking me out. This is a practially brand new canopy, about 40 jumps and I've been treating it good other than one previous water landing in fresh water. That's a real basic explanation. You should also consider that if you're doing 90ft/s after 1 second, and then doing 100ft/s after 10 seconds, your acceleration isn't a constant 10ft/s^2 over that 10 seconds. Basically what I'm getting at is since it's a curving scale not a straight line, you'd need more info to figure out the initial and peak acceleration, and you'd need that to figure out the peak g's. Speeking of paraglider pilots, does anyone know if any PG's fly without the chair thing. Just a regular parachute harness? I'm guessing the main reason for the chair is lower wind resistance and so you don't get tired of holding your legs up, but I saw a guy stall his wing on a TV show the other day and it appeared that him being in that sitting position is what lead to his broken back. It looks like your left side is against the basket and you turn to the right and just fall forward. The pilot probably loves that, because the basket doesn't jerk around, but if you fall forward you're generating momentum on that axis and you'll keep spinning forward unless you know gymnist tricks to stop yourself. A friend that was in the death camp with me asked me to email it to him. Unless Tom ask's me not to, I'm going to. I think he can be trusted with it. Other than that I will only show BASE jumping friends of mine that might need to see it. Tom, the friend is from Finland. I'm curious if Tom put this up, or if someone has a copy. A carnage video disapeared off of skydivingmovies.com I read the thread about renes dam strike that got brought back up, and downloaded both videos again not realizing they were ones I already had on my computer (that's some hardcore shit), and then downloaded all the new videos and while I was watching the newest one, called "scary_video_sdm", a buddy showed up to pick me up to go jump :) I tried to show him it on SDM and it wasn't there. I just got back, no jump, but made progress on access, and it still isn't there. I notice that most of the footage is stuff I have seen at Tom A's house from the carnage video he shows newbie's, but it also has some stuff I'm pretty sure I hadn't seen there. I downloaded the whole thing and I still have it on my computer. It's a 97.5Meg WMV that's 47 minute and 11 seconds long. The reason I bring this up is because it's obviously a good thing for people to see that are interested in BASE. I'm wondering what happened to it, and what will happen if I put it back up? Did someone decide they wanted to modify it and put it up again later, or did the owner of SDM remove it maybe? I have the 2004 model 661 pressure suit and the one thing I don't like about it is the armor has lips all over.
