  1. I've got Cingular and I have a large "local" calling area. I'm just outside Chicago, also. Sometimes the "roam" signal comes on when I know I'm in the coverage area but I never get charged for it. (I think that can happen when the area you are in has limited cell towers.) I generally do not have a problem losing my signal. (And, no I don't have a national plan because it I don't travel all that much so it didn't seem to make sense at the time.) I've been with Cingular for several years now, and all in all, I'm happy with them.
  2. I love my Zute Sute, its an RW suit, but she makes great FF suits as well.
  3. Its probably cheaper to "suspend" your service for the balance of the contract, depending on how much longer you have left on it. I know Cingular charges a couple of dollars a month to suspend service and something like $200.00 to cancel it. Find out what it costs to supend the service and do the math! Good luck!
  4. actually, a man killed his landlord's dog with a sword!
  5. Call your local animal control department. Many cities have a trapping program for possums. You pick up the trap, bait it with cat food or something similar, and when its "full" they come and get it and release the critter into the wild.
  6. Trader Joes is great! I'm sure they have a website where you can look up all their locations and find one near you. PS: I'm with eeneR-learn to like tofu! You'll end up getting most of your protein from soy.
  7. Even if it was simply a "He said, she said" case, I don't think the prosecution had much of a choice. It was too high profile. If they didn't proceed, they'd be accused of favoritism. But I also think the physical evidence and the statements Bryant made to the police were more than enough for them to proceed.
  8. I think his defense team did a great job trying this case in the media, but if the civil case continues, its going to get very, very ugly.
  9. The prosecution took the case because of her injuries, the fact that her blood was on his clothing and his statement to them that he knew she consented by the way she looked at him. It is not normal for a sexually active woman to bleed during consensual sex. He bent her over a chair and @#$%^& her without even taking his shirt off. I can't see him many commercial endorsements in his future!
  10. You know, I thought he was innocent too until I read the article that came out yesterday giving more explicit details about her injuries, his statements to the police (he knew she wanted it by the look she gave him?) and the fact that the DNA evidence suggesting she might have had sex with someone else after him was easily refuted. Now I'm pretty sure he's guilty and plans to pay her off.
  11. 0:3:0 The weather stunk yesterday but cleared up nicely today. I made 3 very enjoyable jumps at SDC today!
  12. In a case of obvious and appalling corruption, a second gold medal was awarded-none was taken away. Why? Maybe because the athletes weren't the guilty parties! Was it right? Who knows, but it seemed to be the most "fair" way to handle it at the time. This case isn't anywhere near as clear cut, but an innocent athlete is still being penalized. I personally think it sucks and its wrong to put a young athlete OF ANY NATION in this position. Paul Hamm's medal is unfortunately already tarnished. And he has publicly stated that if he was officially asked to give up his meal, he would. The spineless way the Olympic officials are handling this is disgusting. But I guess that's just the way this whole Olympics has been!
  13. If Paul Hamm wasn't an American, I don't think he'd be placed in this situation to begin with. He's being expected to be a Good Will Ambassador for our country since no one likes Americans anymore! I think that's a tough job for someone his age! Compare this to the figure skating scandal a few years ago. Of course in that case, there was bribery and corruption involved, not just "mistakes", but no one asked the Russians to give up their gold which they CLEARLY had not earned, and they did not offer. Instead, a second gold medal was awarded days later to the rightful winners, the Canadians. In this case, it really isn't clear that the other guy would have won. To be fair, he might not have been on the podium at all if the leading Romanian, Japanese and Chinese gymnasts hadn't made major mistakes, AND the other American also had a shot at a medal but his rings routine was given a lower start value than it had been in the past. OK so I'm rambling, but I call bull shit on this! They won't "officially" do anything, but still, they go to the press and publicly suggest Paul Hamm give up his medal, making him look like an asshole if he doesn't. Its not fair!
  14. Not that I disagree about not wanting to be a winner due to a mistake or technicality, but to put that all in the lap of a 23 year old, when the judges who screwed up aren't willing to fix the problem themselves? The truth is, there were plenty of other irregularities and mistakes in the judging and Paul Hamm did an admirable job, coming back from a huge error while all of the other competitors made critical mistakes. Like I said, its BS for the commitee to make this "suggestion" and ask this kid to fix their errors!
  15. Well, that's the problem. They won't officially do anything to correct their own mistakes, and they're dropping it all in Paul Hamm's lap. Personally, I think its BS! If the judges screwed up, they should award a 2nd gold medal, or find another way to clean up the mess they made. That's what they ended up doing with the figure skating controversy a couple of years ago! It sucks that this whole olympics has been filled with controversy- between the gymnastics judging and all the reports of illegal doping- it takes a lot away from it!
  16. Well, congratulations! It looks like a lot of us have new additions to our familes! I've got a 12 week old ocicat mix named Spike trying to make friends with Gizmo (14 year old main coon mix) and Tamika (a 5 year old Calico)! He's a sweetie, but the other 2 aren't 100% sure about him just yet!
  17. Obviously, the cake was not meant to be eaten. It should have come with a warning label!

    Aleksei Nemov

I don't think this is the same situation. It seemed like the judging was bad, but not biased for or against any nation or individual. It just seemed more obvious in the men's gymnastics, but more than one American got "robbed" as well. On the women's side in the all around, the anorexic Russian chick got an extremely generous score on the uneven bars, but a low score on the vault. The two scores probably evened themselves out! And last night, Mohini Bhardwan (sp) was underscored on her floor exercise routine. I personally think she should have medaled.

I thought both the Hamm brothers performed very well, but their release moves were not as spectacular as Alexsei Nemov's or the Italian guy who won. I also thought Morgan Hamm should have placed above the Japanese guy who took the bronze since he stuck his landing and the other guy did not. But Alexsei should definitely have been on the podium for at the very least a silver medal. Its a shame the Olympics and some really great performances had to be marred by some really bad judging though.
  20. Skydive Chicago was happy to host the Knights AND their VIP "guests". I had to laugh when I watched the news report last night though because the reporter looked like a tandem master's worst nightmare on his video! No arch and he was flailing. The TM had his hands full with that guy!
  21. 0:1:????? Only one jump, but it was a special Freak Brother dive with a few Golden Knights who needed their numbers! I guess I owe beer for my first time jumping with the Knights! It was awesome! maura FB4100
  22. Well, I think there's more men's gymnastics on tonight and there's a guy on the Romanian team who is totally HOT! So, I'll be watching that!
