No, I think it was pity votes. Almost every time Simon is especially harsh to someone, they "live" to see another week no matter how bad they were.

My orthapedic surgeon and my physical therapist both recommend the ellyptical cross trainers, and I have to agree it gives you a good workout while being relatively low impact. (Easier on the knees AND works my ankles.) I've also been using the treadmill. But, I'm always a little clueless and lacking direction when it comes to weight training.
-
How's your medical insurance? Could you go to your doc and tell him you've got back pain (probably as a result of the older injuries) and have him send you to PT? A physical therapist should be able to tell you the right way to do certain exercises and probaly would also be willing to talk about what works for general weight loss and toning. Good luck to you! I'm trying to get myself back to the gym regularly also, also to get in shape, lose weight and rehab old and not so old injuries! Its tough to get that pattern established! Also, sometimes Ballys will offer some free personal training- the idea is to get you to sign up and pay for more, but if you can get just a few sessions with a trainer, it should help.

Oh its definitely more about age than anything else. The oldest remaining contestant is 19. But I also think Diana has an amazing voice, she's very talented, and Fantasia is a great all around performer. At least 2 of the top 3 deserve to be there, regardless. I didn't watch the show last night, but I knew from LaToya's comments Tuesday that she was ready to move on. She pretty much said as much- made some comment that her career (and the other 3 as well) was already set regardless of the outcome! Still, blame Simon for encouring all of Hawaii to vote over and over again, and for making Jasmine cry! No one likes to see a pretty 17 year old cry! (edited for spelling and typos.....)
-
I think LaToya was ready to go, and probably better off. Once her obligation to American Idol is over (probably after the summer tour?) she'll have much more control over her career than whoever wins. Jasmine has been over rated from day one. Has anyone else noticed that whatever songs she's performed were arranged so that she mainly sang the choruses with the glory notes, but she was always weak on the rest of the melody? And you can tell from the past few weeks that her voice is just fried anyway. She'll be gone next week. If Simon and Randy hadn't made her cry, she would have been gone last night!

I went to school with a guy who considered his complete and total lack of personal hygiene to be some sort of personal artistic statement! Words cannot describe how foul he was. I was a theatre major in a small school and had many classes with him. NOT pleasant!

Well, I will say there are some load organizers I will go out of my way to jump with. I'll jump with them (if they'll have me) when they're organizing newbies and I can get with a more "advanced" group because these people are so positive, informative and fun to jump with. And I'll take something away from the jump even if it is a less challenging skydive. And I've also had some mentors in the sport who have pushed me to try new things I wasn't sure I was ready for and gave me confidence just by having confidence in me. Roger Nelson was one of those people. maura

Scott Miller canopy class in Ohio / June 12-13
tigra replied to PhreeZone's topic in Events & Places to Jump
See the SDC Website. Scott's coming to SDC at the end of June and agin in early September. -
Bert, For what its worth, I don't think what you posted was necessarily lacking merit, but you posted things in the Incident forum which did not belong there. If you got a negative response, that probably why. I think there's room in other forums to discuss altitude awareness, tricky breakoffs, floating handles, etc. Even the quirks of jumping gear which is rarely used anymore. I sincerely hope you are enjoying your return to the sport! maura

Too funny! I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't figure out how to remove a belly ring! I broke my ankle in November and had NO IDEA how to get it out for the surgery! It was so embarrassing, and even the nurse had no clue. She asked around and another nurse told her how to do it. (She used two pair of hemostats, one one either side of the ball and it came right off!)

Trilogy of Terror was a made for TV movie (I think) with Karen Black. There were 3 stories, but the creepiest was the Zuni Doll. That was sooooooooo long ago. There was also a creepy Night Gallery episode where a little girl's doll came to life and did horrible things. Her father was in the military or something and an old enemy of his sent the cursed doll to his daughter to get revenge. I was probably 10 years old when I saw those shows and I still remember them! Both shows aired long before "Chucky" was made!

note to self: DO NOT PISS OFF DAIZEY!!!! Good job, Girl!

Big Tom is going this week unless he wins immunity. Rob and Amber are sticking with their alliance with Jenna and Rupert. Amber will vote with Rob and Rob's already made it pretty clear he won't honor any alliance with Tom.

I agree you are probably right! But, if some stranger (psycho) followed me into the bathroom and started screaming at me and threatening me, I'd be more than a little freaked out by it. And I'm not trying to get over a past "incident."
-
I disagree here. What she described was a very agressive "crazy drunk chick" who did indeed also attack her. She wasn't physically harmed, but she was screamed at and threatened. That would bother anyone, and I can see where it would be very disturbing to someone who had recently been violently attacked. But, just by posting the story here, and asking/ telling people about it that night, this girl has probably already been "outed". People know who she is. Even large busy dropzones are extremely small communities when you come right down to it, and that kind of behaviour isn't tolerated.
-
Yes, absolutely. Get a manager or supervisor on the line and explain the situation to them. You can always threaten to cancel the service (both) and use someone else.
-
Have a great one! maura
-
All this talk about women and jealousy and insecurities is BS! Sorry. The chick in the bathroom was a psycho, plain and simple!
-
That's disgusting behavior and really unfortunate! I'm sure you could probably find out who the psycho was- no drop zone is so big that you couldn't. Unfortunately, this sport attracts all kinds, psycho b*tches included.

bump I don't know Paul, but I'm sending vibes to him and his family. maura

Well, just yesterday I was playing with my friend's 8 month old baby and he picked up one of his toys TWICE and pointed to the battery compartment because it was no longer lighting up or making noise. If he had only done it once, I might have thought it was a coincidence. Not twice- no way! The kid is brilliant!

I'm not a big country music fan, but I think the people who compete/ perform on Nashville Star are far more talented than the singers on American Idol. They aren't just singers, they are also songwriters and musicians. Which one is your friend's nephew?
-
I love it!

Good luck whatever you decide to do. And its WAY too early to give up on your ROM, or accept any limitiation. Keep working at it! maura PS: If I could do all that with my stupid ankle right now, I'd probably jump. Be careful, and go to PT to work on your ROM!

Dayum Brother! You're still hurting?? Sorry to hear that! Lisa, I think you already know the answer, especially since you've already gone through so much with your back. You know what's at stake here. Be patient, the sky will be there for you when you are ready. (If it makes you feel any better, I've been grounded since November!) maura
