  1. To me, that's more of a customer deterrent than a theft deterrent.
  2. All the DNA tests in the world don't mean anything if the police could not account for the location, security and integrity of the evidence they collected at all times. And from what I remember of the OJ trial, "chain of evidence" (I think that what its called) was one of the big issues. The DNA evidence was tainted. Sloppy police procedures made "reasonable doubt" a whole lot easier to establish.
  3. You know what? Something like that would more likely go into a pocket or purse while I was still wandering in the store, not the bag the cashier hands me with my purchase inside it. Maybe I am being naive, and I really don't have much practice shoplifting but how many shoplifters actually slip their stolen goods into their bag of purchased items in plain sight of the cashier and the security guard at the door?
  4. Its 3 Buck Chuck by us and I'm not even sure if they carry it anymore. I'd call it the best wine under $10.00, but if you up your budget to between $10 and $20, you can do much better! hmmm- I wonder if I can squeeze a trip to the wine store into my budget this weekend........
  5. Plus the fact that I used mine so rarely, my system never had a chance to get used to it I guess. The spacer made a big difference, but of course my preference is not to need anything at all! I did notice several weeks ago on what was probably our first really chilly day of fall, I had to make a run for the train and I was wheezing and coughing immediately afterwards.
  6. And I have allergies but the only time I ever have any type of asthmatic symptoms is when my allergies are severe and out of control, or if I've had a bad cold or cough. I haven't used or carried an inhaler for years. When I did use albuterol, it made me jumpy but using a spacer helped.
  7. I'm a Costco girl and I don't mind the membership fee or cards because I get good enough deals there that my membership pays for itself. Anyway, I understand why they check your receipt and cart at places like that, and at my Costco they really do check most of the time. What I don't get is when I go to Best Buy and purchase a CD or DVD or some other small item which they place in a bag and they STILL insist on checking my bag and receipt before I leave. Hey, if I'm walking out with a big screen TV, I get it, but to double check a tiny bag when its only 20 feet between the cashier and the door? WTF is that???
  8. Seriously- my mom's old house? I think it was full of toxic mold and dust. I was OK until I went away to college then suddenly I was having allergy and asthma attacks after I moved back home. Once I moved out, I was pretty much OK as long as I managed my seasonal allergies and I do have cats! Whenever I went back for the holidays or whatever (and the same was true for my sisters) it would all start up again. One Thanksgiving, my sister was literally passing my niece's inhaler around the dinner table! I swear it was the house!
  9. It was an excellent alibi because it explained the powder residue and it was not the murder weapon. He left his wife alone in the car on a dark deserted street while he went back to the restaurant to get his gun. Leave it to Baretta to come up with something like that!
  10. The mistake in the Blake case is that they tried him for pulling the trigger but had no weapon or forensic evidence to support that. (Didn't an expert testify that the gun powder residue on Blake was consistent with handling but not firing a gun?) I highly doubt he actually shot her, but I think its very likely that he set it up and hired someone else to do it. Again, poor police work!
  11. I *think* that's a little different. I think in MJ's case they went ahead and prosecuted knowing they had a weak case and perhaps hoping more people would come forward as the case went on. Because of the public nature of the case, they were in a damned if they do, damned if they don't situation. (Prosecute a weak case with a weak witness or appear to be showing a celebrity favoritism by not prosecuting.) And didn't most of the jurors say they believed MJ was guilty but felt they couldn't convict because the witnesses weren't convincing enough? You've got to give MJ credit for choosing his victims so well. He picks kids who won't tell or won't be believed if they do.
  12. I have mixed feelings about it. I think our legal system is better than what many other countries have and that its meant to hold the people who enforce our laws to a higher standard, which is a good thing. The flip side is that a guilty person can go free over a technicality, and that sucks. But yeah, OJ got lucky- his defense team capitalized on the police and prosecution mistakes in addition to the political/ social climate at the time. If he were tried today under the same circumstances, he might just be convicted.
  13. Hopefully, she's on the mend now. Breathing on her own is a good sign, right? BTW- I think regardless of gender, the term is Drama Queen! But I don't think you're being one, just a concerned family member! You're doing all the right things, just hang in there!
  14. I'm pretty sure he is guilty however I also feel that the reason he was aquitted had more to do with how the police mishandled the case than his being a celebrity. This was in the early days of court TV and the coverage was unprecedented at the time. I remember over the course of the trial hearing stories about blood evidence left in a police officer's personal vehicle overnight, and the way the crime scene was trampled, that kind of thing. Those procedural errors (coupled with the Rodney King incident, verdict and riots fresh in everyone's mind) made it really easy for the defense to plant that seed of reasonable doubt in a juror's mind. And of course, having such a high priced defense team didn't hurt either!
  15. Chariot Sangiovese- $15.99 at my neighborhood wine store! Actually, they have a lot of decent wines in the $10-$20 range but I do like the Chariot!
  16. I did say LIGHTLY chilled and I've been shopping and tasting at his store for almost 2 years. He hasn't steered me wrong yet!
  17. My sister bought me a bottle of port last time she was in town. Too sweet for me, to be honest. I drank it, but I doubt I'll get another bottle until she visits again!
  18. I think it depends on the wine too! Plus, if you chill them too much, it kind of kills the flavor.
  19. The nice man at my local wine store says most reds are best lightly chilled.

    Male sex drive?

Sorry, its just that you've already repeated it several times and I think it sort of makes you look like an (insert word of choice) when you keep repeating the same thing over and over again, especially since she's already addressed it and disagreed AND you don't know them! Besides, I'll bet if that were the case, on some level she'd know it.

    Male sex drive?

You really ought to drop the whole "He's gay" routine. You know NOTHING about these people.

    Male sex drive?

There's a difference between physical affection and sex.

    Male sex drive?

Well, in your original post you said a year, now its once or twice a month and that you still have a great relationship. Married 3 years and together for how long before that? I guess I'll join the minority and say I DON'T think its all that abnormal and also if you start pushing the issue and making demands, you will only make things worse. Physical intimacy is important in a relationship, but so is friendship and companionship. The sex slows down eventually for all couples, but if the friendship and companionship stay as strong or get stronger, you're ahead of the game. If you're at a stage in your life where your sexual needs are greater than his, you may need to find some alternative ways to deal with that. BOB?
  24. Actually, that's an old old joke. I've heard it many times before with the girlfriend's father as the pharmacist!
  25. Last year we had a lot more teenagers- this year, I only saw a couple that were trick or treating without small kids. If they were taking the little ones around, I figured they earned a little candy. The two I saw that were trick or treating on their own were definitely too old to be trick or treating, but I gave them candy anyway because they made me laugh. Besides, I had already decided my cutoff was 8:00 and they showed up at 7:45 and I knew I had enough candy to last 15 more minutes!
