  1. Marmite! Vegimite is all... yeasty. And for the carnivores, there's (Beefy) Bovril! t It's the year of the Pig.
  2. Hey Doc. Your description cleared up any doubts I may have had about the leg strap issue. Thanks for making it clear to someone who (so far) has never has any issues with his body! t It's the year of the Pig.
  3. They "did it to save lives." The United States of America has a proven track record of nuclear weapons usage. Ask the Japanese if you're confused. How about judging morality against a set scale? t It's the year of the Pig.
  4. Spot on. Moved to Safety and Training. Instructors and jumpmasters really should be the people to make students aware of the consequences of jumping congested. t It's the year of the Pig.
  5. Thi is funny. I'm in Africa, get mine surface mail, and have had it for a week. t It's the year of the Pig.
  6. no 40 - 45... I guess I'm timeless! t It's the year of the Pig.
  7. Twice in 18 years of instructing. I'm brutal - but polite. If people can't figure out from the dive where they're at, you're going to need to be extra specially "honest" with them. In both cases the students physical performance was terrible, and the thought of failure and consequent death seemed "not so bad." I also asked a student to leave the 1st jump course once during the into lecture when he said he was here to commit suicide. He later said he was joking - but I wasn't really interested in finding out if he was lying before or after. t It's the year of the Pig.
  8. Care to list any other places you don't care to go to? It could be like a short list of interesting places I'd like. I must confess I find it perplexing why you'd write to this thread telling us you don't care to go but give no reason. Skeered? t It's the year of the Pig.
  9. The GS1 is a high end suit. My S3 cost R8450 a year ago, and I think the GS1 is aimed at a similar experience level to those who would now choose an S3-S or Vampire, although the suits are very different WRT the type of flight they perform. Jii-wings has my measurements (for a demo) and since you're jumping very similar gear (Mirage MT-a half?) and am the same height as me I'm certain the suit will fit you. With your weight/height ratio, you should get great numbers and should have a chance to "try before you buy" t It's the year of the Pig.

Umm. Are those the C cups I measured for her wingsuit? t It's the year of the Pig.
  11. Remember when you arrive at immigration, tell them you skydive. They'll ask you for your D licence, and with that LOOONG number, may think you come from the future. If you run into any problems, ask for Tonto. I'll be right over.
  12. T got an average of 44 MPH on her GTi last weekend, with an exit from 12700 and a deployment at 3000ft. Freefall time was 148 seconds. She's currently in Boston doing some stuff there. I really think she's got all she can from her GTi! t It's the year of the Pig.
  13. This is an expensive, dangerous and time consuming sport. If you don't want to jump, that's fine. The only reason to skydive is that you really need - and want - to do it. t It's the year of the Pig.
  14. Ummm... Been there, done that? t It's the year of the Pig.
  15. Could be worse. Could be in a Malaria area... t It's the year of the Pig.
  16. Don't come here. If you do come, you'd better stay, or life will appear pretty mundane when you get home. Darwin works here every day. It's truely a blend between being able to get whatever you need, and survival of the fittest. Even the predators here know what it's like to feel like prey. t It's the year of the Pig.
  17. There are burble issues, but these can be overcome by good body position and a slightly longer bridle. The open corners allow the bag to be extracted out of the back (bottom) of the container. Packing is preferably pin to grommet. t It's the year of the Pig.
  18. You're right, of course. I do wonder how these restrictive leg straps allow blood flow into the legs but not out of the legs. I understand the positive G aspect, but it still seems unlikely to me. I have spent a lot of time at altitude, and a lot of time in harnesses, both climbing (Sometimes hours in hanging belay) and doing CRW. I've never experienced anything remotely like this in 20 years, and I know no-one who wears their legstraps tighter than mine. As I said though.. I don't know much beyond my personal experiences. t It's the year of the Pig.
  19. I don't know much - but I know this has nothing to do with your leg straps. The blood (and O2) to your brain come staight from the heart into the aorta, and then splits to the corotid arteries, the main arteries in the neck that supply blood to the brain. t It's the year of the Pig.
  20. You'll like the Safire 2. I have a Safire 1 and T has a Safire 2. While performance is very similar to the Sabre 2 and the Pilot - I liked the openings, which are between the sometimes "too brisk" Sabre 2 and the sometimes "is this a malfunction or a snivel" Pilot. t It's the year of the Pig.
  21. As I said - mine pack the same. Mirage list the Safire 119 and Stilleto 107 as the same in both my G3 and my G4. If you don't want to beleive the manufacturer - go ahead. It may make any kind of gear choice in the future quite difficult though. t It's the year of the Pig.
  22. Well - I'm getting soft in my old age... I wear a wingsuit now! t It's the year of the Pig.
  23. My GF and I have 5 rigs, 4 of which have corner mods. She does a lot of freeflying and Birdman, I do a lot of AFF and Birdman. We have no problems. t It's the year of the Pig.
  24. Other. I have 17 or 18 cutaways. I've lost one handle - on a Tandem reserve malfunction when I really needed my hands. If I lost parts, I'd use my other rig till I got them replaced. t It's the year of the Pig.
