  1. I'd add airspeed to that list, and take off the Porter. t It's the year of the Pig.

Do you have a spycam watching my african "Buttfly" technique? I'll get it. I just need more practice. Nothing another 1000 skydives won't solve. t It's the year of the Pig.
  3. Mmm. This kinda thing has been going on for quite a few years now and the cops get excellent conviction rates based on the content of the chats prior to the meeting. Generally the "MINOR" is aged about 12 - 14, which is young enough that no jury would have any "jailbait" sympathy for someone going for a "hot, older looking, 2 weeks from 18 year old after 5 drinks" misunderstanding. I think he's in a world of shit, and if found guilty, deserves whats coming. t It's the year of the Pig.

What? I havn't even described it yet! t It's the year of the Pig.
  5. Gaming development costs are high. Hire a skydiving consultant, have programmers do an AFF course etc. Flight sims consult with pilots, even FPS's like SWAT consult with the LAPD SWAT crews for motion capture, techniques etc. If you're going to do something, do it properly. There are enough crappy skydiving games out there already. t It's the year of the Pig.
  6. Interesting! I think it depends a lot on who you jump with, and who belays you. I voted skydiving as more dangerous. Here's my reasoning. When you start to climb, you can start in a gym, on a top rope, with an excellent person on belay and another right next to you coaching in quiet, real time. If you're pumped out, your belayer can lock down and give you a time out. When you start to skydive, it's through the same door as those with 10000 jumps plus, and whatever happens in the next 60 seconds - you'll need to deal with. (Tandem excluded.) I guess we could draw a gym/top rope comparison to tunnel time here. Once you're a more senior sport climber, even when leading a climb your belay partner can call out grips, give you a rest, get you to double check you're hooked in on 2 points prior to untieing to rap down. You can use a sling to hook in at any point. You can get stuck and call on a cell for help, etc. These options are not available as a skydiver. Trad has many more variables, but I think most trad climbers are more experienced, know their limits (usually discovered in sport or boldering) and stay within them. Solo climbing I think is many times more dangerous than even BASE. Equipment dependance is down to shoes and magnesium carbonate, and a loose rock or weather can compromise even the best. Mountaneering, with it's high altitudes, hypoxia, HAPE and HACE, exhaustion, exposure etc also introduce many variables and blur the lines between success and failure, elation and survival. I guess there's a big difference between a SL jump from 3500ft and a 400 way too.. t It's the year of the Pig.
  7. 1400 ft from a decending 182 with iced wings and prop after decending through cloud unable to see the DZ for a CRW jump. For those of you who know CRW rigs, you'll know I was fully deployed with brakes unstowed by about 1350ft. t It's the year of the Pig.

No, I'm afraid I can't explain "Dynamic Wing Technology" even after flying the suit. I could give you a description of that slightly vacuum packed feeling just above and behind my balls I get after a massively good shag though, as it's very similar to the way I feel after a good flight... t It's the year of the Pig.
  9. Damn. You whipped me!" (But were you smiling at the time?) t It's the year of the Pig.
  10. And there's a clue... In the words of Robi, "Gravity is our only engine, Speed is our only friend." t It's the year of the Pig.
  11. Did the unit have "Armour"? They're fragile without it particularly if you're the type that reaches for risers during deployment. t It's the year of the Pig.
  12. It's never safe to assume. And there is no such thing as a windless day.. But 106 is a posted speed... so you only have 55 MPH to go! t It's the year of the Pig.
  13. That's why I used the "" icon. Ground speed has not been used as a means to measure aircraft speed/performance since the 1930's, and thus GPS "Data" is all just bullshit anyway. Regardless, I've posted a speed in answer to the thread question "What is the fastest wingsuit available at the moment?" although I beleive as Piisfish said, that the fastest suit is the one with the fastest pilot inside. Lets see if anyone has gone faster in anything. The crossing of the straights of Gibraltar worked out to an average ground (water?) speed of around 200 kmph, or 125 mph, which is still WELL below my max. Post up. 161 anyone? If you beat it - I may even say what suit I used. t It's the year of the Pig.
  14. I got 161 mph on my suit. What's up with all this 100 mph bullshit? I thought we were talking about S-P-E-E-D! t It's the year of the Pig.

Ever tried the Search button at the bottom of the page? I've had no problems with the pull on my PHI, but then my main other suit is an S3. t It's the year of the Pig.
  16. Mine are both retired with no plan to replace them. The swoop aspect is only a small part of it. The lack of communication on the issue from Cypres - and their pushing "Good for all" ads have left me feeling somewhat burned. t It's the year of the Pig.
  17. 37 AFF dives, 13 Birdman. t It's the year of the Pig.
  18. Everything Fergs said works, and should be done on every jump. Sensible gear, like your Sabre (square) help you deal with consequence. I think 24 inch is tiny for a PC. Any PC. But maybe that's just me. I prefer F-111 to ZP, around 30 inch, with minimal weight on the apex (Many hacky's are BAD, some OK. PVC pipe GOOD, some freefly handles OK.) I like my longer bridles. Mine are around 120 inch. Having said all that - read Fergs post again. t It's the year of the Pig.
  19. I think that 9 cell, long lined Tandem reserves are as prone to malfunction as 9 cell long lined Tandem mains, and the fact that my malfunction rate was that high on mains - and the mains were the same spec as the reserves makes me trust them less. t It's the year of the Pig.
  20. I disagree. I have 4691 main deployments. 18 resulted in use of a reserve, 7 of which were caused by canopy wraps or entanglements, so 11 malfunctions. Of these 11, 7 were on Tandems. This produces the following stats. 751 tandems, 7 Malfunctions. 1 use of reserve per 107 jumps 3940 "sport" jumps, 4 Malfunctions. 1 use of reserve per 985 jumps 18 reserve rides, 1 Malfunction. 1 failure of reserve per 18 jumps. I'll need a lot of reserve rides to make them statistically safer than my main, won't I? Tell yourself what you need to hear to make it through the door - but gear fails. If you're not happy with the risk - don't jump. It really is that simple. t It's the year of the Pig.
  21. Not high on my list of requirements in a container... But then again, I do about 300 work dives a year at $40 a dive, so that's a shade under $12000 a year, so after earning $24000, my nearly 2 year old Mirage G4 and my nearly 1 year old Mirage G3 are looking pretty cheap. Sure, I had to pay for 2 PD 126 R's and reline both my Safire and Stilleto - but it looks like even if I include about 200 fun dives... I'm still jumping and getting gear "for free!" t It's the year of the Pig.
  22. How do you know you're heterosexual if you have not had sex? t It's the year of the Pig.
  23. Catholics are the only religeon that request (but don't always get) celebacy from their preists, right? Where does this come from? You say Do you think that someone who has never had an intimate relationship should be out there advising others how to run their lives? What are your views on Whuffo 1st jump instructors teaching and debriefing student skydivers? Surely some involvement in the world at large is a requirement for guiding people through that world? I don't get it. Maybe you can explain it to me. t It's the year of the Pig.
