That's not culture. It's being an old fart. Jim Morrison had been dead for years by the time your 40 year old nemmesis turned 20. He'd ALWAYS liked old shit. Does he freefly? Jump birdman? Jump a 7 cell? What you choose to listen to is a choice. We can listen to Bofo, destructors & delta five or we can listen to Offspring, Limp Bizkit & Tree 63 - It's the same shit for a different generation. We cannot choose not to get old. In 20 something years time - you don't know where you'll be. You think - and you hope - but you don't know. I knew where I wanted to be at 40 when I was 21, and I'm there. Old is when you don't want to do new stuff. Old is when franchise restaurants finally make sense. Old is when you stay home and wait to die instead of waiting for the weather to change at the DZ. Are you old yet? t It's the year of the Pig. -
I know. I live in Africa, remember? t It's the year of the Pig.

If you have an A licence and a logbook, and are current, you'd be welcome at our DZ. Johannesburg Skydiving Club, South Africa. t It's the year of the Pig.

Dude! Where did you learn to get so grumpy! Life's a breeze, and politics is like fleas arguing about who owns the dog they're on. I'm sure we could find more in common than ideology if we tried. t It's the year of the Pig.

Fuck youth. I have skydives. Everyone gets old. Not everyone gets jumps. -
Are you not assuming that this reserve will never be used? Every use is likely to be prior to the next packjob, no? I'm with Hookitt on this. I use my reserves often - and I trust them. I started in the days of F-111 type fabric 7 cell main canopies - loaded to a fraction of my reserve, admittedly, but would probably only start to worry when my rigger did. I've seen lots of Tempo reserves with built in turns. Mine flies straight. I'll keep it thanks. t It's the year of the Pig.

I used to - but I've had women betray my trust and read them in the past for "bits about me." I don't read others journals - and I expect the same treatment. So. Never again. t It's the year of the Pig.

Hi Rosa, Weights have many influences. You'll be wearing enough to put you centre of your range on the dives you do. 1. It's harder to land with weight - than if that weight was part of you - so start slowly and work up. 2. If its an external belt - bear in mind it could affect your reserve drills. 3. If you jump near an open body of water - bear in mind it could have dire consequences. t It's the year of the Pig.

Wingloading and Experience, again ZZZzzzz

You are on the limit of a sub 100 jumper at my DZ. You would only be able to exceed that limit with my consent (I'm the CI) - and the fact that you're jumping a 150 (Shorter lines, twitchier than a larger canopy at the same wing load) would not help your cause unless you were an exceptional student. Read this and this and this. Good luck. Remember, the ground always knows where you are. t It's the year of the Pig. -
What is your choice for the best all around container

Mirage I've been skydiving for 18+ years. I've seen a bunch of stuff, I've jumped just about everything. I do FS, Freefly, AFF, Birdman. No better rig I can see. t It's the year of the Pig. -
Are we talking about "Doris Beige" here? t It's the year of the Pig.

Isn't that the truth. I did my AFF certification at Perris. I passed no problem. Think I could get on a dive? Then Scott Border invited me to go MAIN SIDE. Ooo. When I said I'd just go on the reserve side, he said "What better time to learn than with someone who knows?" Well, after that I was in. Scott's dead - in the Perris crash - but I still think of him often. I have 1200 aff dives, but he was the dude who let me tag along as a newbie with 1000 dives and got me going. t It's the year of the Pig.

No, I don't think it's wrong. It's a difficult medium to work with as it dries almost immediately in small qualities when exposed to air. I would recommend greater volumes - perhaps about half litre quantities at a time, and broad sweeping strokes. My brush type would be a Remington 870, and I'd have a camera on hand to photograph the painting at stages prior to completion, as any other method to preserve that bright scarlet the instant it hits the fabric will do it no justice at all. Since a piece like this is usually intensely private and intended more for the artist than an audience, a quiet environment free from distraction or interruption is ideal, and would recommend you avoid signing your name to the work or developing the pictures at any commercial lab. Enjoy! t It's the year of the Pig.

But when the dude's family sues the wall he drove into and those who stupidly built it there - you don't mind paying part of the insurance payout, right? You're a funny guy. t It's the year of the Pig.

was directed at you. was directed at those people who have a couple of years and a couple of hundred jumps who have not yet seen their peers ripped limb from limb in their pursuit of happiness. Sorry about the misunderstanding. t It's the year of the Pig.

Hi Squeak, They wouldn't be allowed to do squat here. You need to be a JM for a year before you go on an instructors course and you need a C for a JM, which is 200 dives here, AFF I's require 1000 dives minimum. I have worked with some AFF othersides with lowish numbers, and they've done OK. There are some people who progress faster than others. I'd rather go with a twenty something AFF I with 500 dives than with an 80 something AFF I with 20000 plus dives. Somewhere between those points lies perfection. t It's the year of the Pig.

As an AFF I, the things most important to me are altitude awareness, solo pulls and a good body position. If a turn is not perfect, or a backloop slightly off heading, I'll mention it in the debrief, tell you how to correct it, but will probably pass you - especially if I can build that task in on another level. Turns, etc, will never be perfect. If they were, teams like "Majik" would not be out there practicing. Set out with "safe and independant" being your AFF goal - and nomatter what else happens - remember that you're doing this for fun. If it's not fun - there are cheaper ways of having a crap time. t It's the year of the Pig.
