    I have not read the thread - just responding to your post. Sounds to me like you managed to piss a few people off over that year. Being a familiar face is different from being a well liked person. Why were you grounded for 5 months? Did you stay in touch, or just disappear? Edit: OK. I read the thread. I feel psycic. Obviously bullshit going on here. And how do you define "nobody comes looking for you" apart from 2 other people? t It's the year of the Pig.

    That's because you're pulling G's on opening and your heart rate will increase because of the physiological load required to keep your blood pressure in your head up. It has nothing to do with fear. Same with landing. You can pull up to 2 g on a sustained front riser turn to the swoop. t It's the year of the Pig.

    3 to 4 sounds very optimistic to me. The dude on the rigid wing channel crossing only needed a glide ratio of 3.. (And I still think he cheated - no info on exit and opening points..) t It's the year of the Pig.

    Since we're more likely to hit canopies below us, some green/blue colour schemes are less than wise depending on your DZ environment. I'm sometimes perplexed at some jumpers choice in colour. I friend of mine, who has a gear store, wanted to put a sign up which said something like "Nomatter how poor your taste, we'll build it for you." When you look at cars, they all look good, but some appeal more than others. I've seen some hidious canopies! t It's the year of the Pig.

    You have no jump numbers listed in your profile, so I'm assuming you have very low jump numbers. I broke my femur skydiving when I had 150 jumps - and waited until the plate was out before I jumped again. Bones bend. The metal in your leg (Usually a high carbon stainless or tianium) is very brittle, to avoid the cenario of it bending under load and the bone setting skew. While a second opinion is good, don't go hunting for the answer you want. Medical science is not a democracy. We know that jumping is dangerous. Jumping in your condition - particularly with the potential for low experience, is more dangerous. t It's the year of the Pig.

    Don't jump. Skydiving will always be there. Focus on achieving the goals you've set yourself, and when you're more financially independant - start again. Skydiving is very unforgiving. Best to stay sharp. t It's the year of the Pig.

    Firstly, I think you have to coolest Grandfather of all time. I met him on an AFF Evaluation dive at Perris while watching over Don Yarling. He was messing with my "student" and I asked him to please allow my student to focus on his upcoming skydive. He apologised and the rest of the dive was uneventful. (or as uneventful as an AFF eval dive could be!) Only during the debrief did Don tell me who I had chastised. I found him and apologised immediatly, and he just laughed it off. Now to your comment. Quite simply - they're different. If we wanted things to last longer - we'd still be going everywhere in boats. Sometimes we look for speed - and sometimes we look for endurance. I prefer the speed in my skydiving, and the endurance watching TV. t It's the year of the Pig.

    Depends on the bump, but I stop at 14 kts, along with my students. 1000's of jumps experience won't help you when your canopy shuts at 30 ft. t It's the year of the Pig.

    Bullshit. Not when you're a 12 year old Iraqi boy with no arms and legs as the result of a US built and delivered bomb. What wrong choices did he make? Where his parents lived when they fell in love? Not when you worked in the WTC in 2001 on 9/11. Same story. Sometimes fate conspires to fuck you.
