I dont think itdoes as there was a fatality at Perris last year where the girl had turned her cypress on at a different place, lower if I am remembering correctly, and could not get the main and the cypress did not firesince the altitude was calibrated to a lower turn on location. I could be remembering incorrectly but I do remember thinking that the cypress obviously does not calibrate to ground level over time... Please correct me if I am wrong.. It sure wont be the first time.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I just read the article on Skyleague.com about Synchronicity not wanting to go to the World Meet but asking for one of the four US slots at the Malevsky Cup 2006 instead. Interesting article NSL News Story Also interesting to note that Fastrax dumped Select as a team. I was suprised to see this and there is no note of it that I can see on the Fastrax site.. It seems that he womens division is taking hold internationally but it really seems up in the air now in the US. Personally I think it has been proven that women can compete with the men. Given the success that has been seen recently with women on the top 4 way teams it is hard to disagree with that point of view. Anybody have any thoughts on this situation? I am curious as it seems to involve the Best Womens team in the world saying no to the World meet.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

A 176 used lightning is very tough to find!! Well I did find an older all F111 but was not really what I was looking for as it should have been retired... IS there a CRW used Gear Board somewhere or a different classfieds on a CRW page?? Lightning looks to be the best way to go but spending ~ $1500 on new for a more casual CRW desire seems to be more then my bankbook will want me to spend. Any thoughts? Scott C. I have a 150 in one of my backup rigs. Opens great, turns VERY fast, nice overall canopy. Some oversteer and does not surf well as it is a 7 cell but it will surf a little. I still like it and and even flew it this weekend. Do a search and lots of info should pop up Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

A notice was sent out regarding the upcomming move to the Kapowsin mailing list on Jan 17th. It is not stated when the mocve will happen but there is a sign up at the airport in shelton that they are going to be moving thre. Not sure when the move will be though.. As a side I have made that drive and I do think it is optomistic saying 90 min from Seattle but if there is no traffic it is possible. [Quote] Kapowsin Air Sports is excited to announce that they will be moving to Shelton, WA (Sanderson Field). Plans are underway for a new hanger designed specially for a Skydiving Center. The hanger should be complete by the beginning of summer. Possibilities are endless at Sanderson Field, it is a huge airport with very little acctivity. Drive time from downtown Seattle is 1hr 30min and it's freeway all the way. I-5 south to exit 104 (ocean beaches exit) then Hwy 101 North to Sanderson Field, turn left off 101 into the airport. We will be announcing a Grand Opening soon. Exacts are still uncertain and are weather dependent. Lets hope for a early and good spring. We will keep you posted as details unfold. Sincerely, The Farrington's "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I think this is really a sex question and your wondering what the max number of times a man can "Chuck" a woman in a day. Or maybe you are thinking about the other side and it is a woman "Chucking" wood but w/o using teeth and of course the same # of times question applies??? $0.02 "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

OIL CHANGE INSTRUCTIONS FOR WOMEN: 1) Pull up to Wal Mart when the mileage reaches 3000 miles since the last oil change. 2) Drink a cup of coffee. 3) 15 minutes later, write a check and leave with a properly maintained vehicle. Money spent: Oil Change $20.00, Coffee $1.00, Total $21.00 OIL CHANGE INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEN: 1) Wait until Saturday, drive to auto parts store and buy a case of oil, filter, kitty litter, hand cleaner and a scented tree, write a check for $50.00. 2) Stop by 7 - 11 and buy a case of beer, write a check for $20.00, drive home. 3) Open a beer and drink it. 4) Jack car up. Spend 30 minutes looking for jack stands. 5) Find jack stands under kid's pedal car. 6) In frustration, open another beer and drink it. 7) Place drain pan under engine. 8) Look for 9/16 box end wrench. 9) Give up and use crescent wrench. 10) Unscrew drain plug. 11) Drop drain plug in pan of hot oil: splash hot oil on you in process. Cuss. 12) Crawl out from under car to wipe hot oil off of face and arms. Throw kitty litter on spilled oil. 13) Have another beer while watching oil drain. 14) Spend 30 minutes looking for oil filter wrench. 15) Give up; crawl under car and hammer a screwdriver through oil filter and twist off. 16) Crawl out from under car with dripping oil filter splashing oil everywhere from holes. Cleverly hide old oil filter among trash in trash can to avoid environmental penalties. Drink a beer. 17) Buddy shows up; finish case of beer with him. Decide to finish oil change tomorrow so you can go see his new garage door opener. 18) Sunday: Skip church because "I gotta finish the oil change." Drag pan full of old oil out from underneath car. Cleverly dump oil in hole in back yard instead of taking it back to AutoZone to recycle. 19) Throw kitty litter on oil spilled during step 18. 20) Beer? No, drank it all yesterday. 21) Walk to 7-11; buy beer. 22) Install new oil filter making sure to apply a thin coat of oil to gasket surface. 23) Dump first quart of fresh oil into engine. 24) Remember drain plug from step 11. 25) Hurry to find drain plug in drain pan. 26) Remember that the used oil is buried in a hole in the back yard-along with drain plug. 27) Drink beer. 28) Shovel out hole and sift oily mud for drain plug. Re-shovel oily dirt into hole. Steal sand from kids sandbox to cleverly cover oily patch of ground and avoid environmental penalties. Wash drain plug in lawnmower gas. 29) Discover that first quart of fresh oil is now on the floor. Throw kitty litter on oil spill. 30) Drink beer. 31) Crawl under car getting kitty litter in to eyes. Wipe eyes with oily rag used to clean drain plug. Slip with stupid crescent wrench tightening drain plug and bang knuckles on frame. 32) Bang head on floorboards in reaction to step 31. 33) Begin cussing fit. 34) Throw stupid crescent wrench. 35) Cuss for additional 10 minutes because wrench hit Miss December(1992) in the left boob. 36) Beer. 37) Clean up hands and forehead and bandage as required to stop blood flow. 38) Beer. 39) Beer. 40) Dump in five fresh quarts of oil. 41) Beer. 42) Lower car from jack stands. 43) Accidentally crush remaining case of new motor oil. 44) Move car back to apply more kitty litter to fresh oil spilled during steps 23 - 43. 45) Beer. 46) Test drive car. 47) Get pulled over: arrested for driving under the influence. 48) Car gets impounded. 49) Call loving wife, make bail. 50) 12 hours later, get car from impound yard. WOW!! is all I can say! I was watching on the Hi Def chanel (INHD) showing "Huckspedition" with the Red Bull Airforce near Monument Valley. The HiDef in widescreen was stunning (the new LCD TV helps that) but if you get this watch it.. Tons of cool stuff to watch and the detail on the openings, ect.. is outstanding. Looked and the next time it is on is Feb 10th 2 times 7:30am est and 12pm est.. Wings over Cleveland is the only show that comes up with the search "Skydive" . I am guessing it is the swoop and paragliding competition from Cleveland awhile back. It is listed as 3 show times Feb 3rd 7:30am and 4:30pm est and Feb 4th at 3am est. I will be watching that. HiDef hss some Cool stuff! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

If you are at peace with your progression then why did you seek advice???? Did you want affrimation of your position, someone to tw\ell you that your correct??? You have been watching the dz.com boards long enough to know that you will get a responce but if it is somethig that your not willing to look at then why post it??? Again I stand by what I said and would hope that you do move forward and get more comfortable... Use the information that you ahve at hand and dont rely on mechanical equiptment as it is never 100%.. Well I am not overly worried about you looking at your alti but it does show a low level of comfort in the sport. Also what is the reasoning behing a ~6K breakoff, again a low comfort level with the sport? I am all for safety but you will limit the people you will have jumping with you with the constant high break alti.. As you get more jumps you shold have a growing internal clock and your eyes should be getting better at altitudes. but unless your propensity to stare at the alti is causing you to not track away far enough I dont care if you are looking at it at pull time. I would be concerned if it ws off and you did not actively use the other available cues.... $.02 Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Dave, I dont have a problem with either one of the situations you mentiond and am a proponet of radio and continued training. What I meant more so and maybe diod not illustrate enough was more that I would question someone that is licenced, considering there are accuracy requirements to gt a license, who has trouble and does not seek out assistance. If someone has a question or concern and is looking to improve their own abilities and inturn safety I dont have a problem. I am more concerned if someone has an issue and is not concerned about it.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

That is interesting as a general comment, but say they completed the AFF series in the minimum number of jumps.. I have seen S/L students stay with limited radio for over 10 jumps. Just becuse they are off the AFF levels does not make them a licensed skydiver and are still under a supervised status until a min of 25 jumps for that A-license.. The DZ charging $5 or so ( I am assuming) to cover radio charges is not a bad thought but more then that might be excessive. Considering you can buy a 2-way radio set for as low as $20. Then add to the mix the thought of the radio person is getting a buck or two which can be an issue for some people but could be considered part of "Coaching" . Depending on how it is done I dont see a big problem. Getting someone off the radio is important. Saying that a jumper with a minimum number of jumps showing some concern and requesting the assistance should not be jumping is kinda crazy. Now if they have a license and cant land you might have a point but not for a student/non-licenced supervised jumper. just $0.02 Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I see no prices.. My translation on that is "Make me an Offer" which will open the door to your frustration: preceived value vs. what someone will pay (reality). Hell I will buy the lot from you for $500 Cash! I dont really think your going to take my offer but you gave no starting point. Hell even a used car dealer gives a starting price Quick rull to remember as a seller... "You Dont get anything unless you ask" Quick rule to remember as a buyer.... "You Dont get anything unless you ask" It is funny how that line works on both sides... I suggest you revise your classfieds to show kinda what you want and go from there or go to E-bay and start at 0.99.. I would suggest a reserve though if your not happy with the offers your getting now... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

The deer was just trying to give that guys buddies a chance to laugh at him more i the bar later. Obviously no danger to the deer with a heart filld with public service feelings.... As a side, that guy should have his gun removed from his hands and smacked upside his head with it, maybe it will uncross his eyes... Scott C "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I have seen a number of units that come up that fall into the category like the one noted on E-bay at this link: http://cgi.ebay.com/Cypres-Skydive-Skydiving-Sky-dive-AAD-No-Reserve_W0QQitemZ7211331331QQcategoryZ106980QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I had heard at some point that if you buy a cypress that needs both 4 and 8 year service, you will get charged for both services. Basically a way to prevent someone from skipping a service level. I am not sure that the 4 and 8 year checks are different and if not do they just check it and charge double, basically a penalty for not bowingdown to the 4 year check rule. I dont remember exactly where I heard it but it is stickinhg in my head so I am pretty sure it is the case. I just trying to confirm for my own knowledge. If it's ture, is it noted on the SSK page, I looked but did notsee it after a quick look? You would think a warning should be noted about this to someone spending too much on a unit that needs both 4 and 8 year checks as it might not end up being such a good deal after all.... Thanks, Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Looks Like Kapowsin is getting a new Home
sdctlc replied to sdctlc's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Sounds like a deal was worked out in Shelton. Found this on a local radio stations page on news. As a side, Shelton is across the sound from Seattle and basically West of where Kapowsin had been. I copied a quick mapquest map (attached) Kapowsin is lower right, Shelton Left side and Seattle is upper Right. All highway fromn Center of Seattle down through Tacome to Olympia and then up to Shelton is about 90 or so miles.. Hope it goes smooth and it works out well!! http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:A-hXje0WFssJ:www.kmas.com/news.htm+Shelton+Skydiving+Minutes+Mason+Sanderson&hl=en SKYDIVING RETURNING TO SHELTON A commercial skydiving operation will be returning to Sanderson Field. Tuesday, the Port of Shelton Commission approved a 25-year lease with Kapowsin Air Sports. Kapowsin owners, Jessie and Geoff Farrington first approached the Port in September with the concept of moving their skydiving operation from Pierce County. The Port Commission discussed this issue several times since then, taking public input, reviewing safety records, talking with officials from the F-A-A, their insurance carrier and attorneys to make sure the Port is protected. The lease was NOT unanimously approved. Marv Faughender voted against leasing to the Farringtons saying it will be the biggest mistake the Port of Shelton has made in years and the Port will be sued. The Port of Shelton is leasing Kapowsin Air Sports three acres of land at Sanderson Field where the Farringtons plan on building a hanger with a café. The Port will be getting fair market value for the land plus a per jump charge of 50 cents. This is anticipated to generate up to $20,000 a year for the Port of Shelton. I was at Tech the first year Beamer came in '87 after Dooley screwed the school. I saw plenty of losses and the "Hokies" were the "Chokies". After Beamers 6 years they were dooing great and winning but still seemed to be the chokies now and then when it counted, i.e. late in teh season while highly ranked or in the national title game ect.... For this game all I can think is: "Old Hokie" Fight Song Hokie, Hokie, Hokie, Hi! Tech, Tech, VPI Sol-a-rex, Sol-a-rah Poly Tech Vir-gin-ia Ray rah VPI Team! Team! Team! winning is nice

I am actually suprised that there was not more noted about the offer is Skydiving (jan '06 pg3) for a pre order for $838. I searched and did not find anything about the offer or about the unit and its final pre release testing. I looked on the website and found some things out about the unit and was suprised to see it needed service every 2 years and that it was expected to expire at 12 yrs 3 months. Nice that the battery could be easily and inexpensively changed. Firing parameters seem similar to other comparable units. With all of the "talk" about the Vigil I am suprised that more is not being noted on this unit and its offer. Does nybody have any real world experience with the beta units or know about the Service centers ect..... I am not really looking for one but I like knowing what is out there and the pros and cons.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
