That is not Dirty, Messy yeah but not dirty. It does not look like a science experiment there so your good. Only advice is to suck it up and "Do It Yourself".. Pretty easy and I would imagine with out a GF something your probably pretty use to doing on your "alone" time... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

OK, Line over or tension Knot, I am not sure buy the pic but my first thought was Line over. Separate from that I thought the quoted part of your post above was an interesting statment to be made. Faster to the reserve is a great thing and the SkyHook is really a cool innovation but you noted the RSL worked fine so did someting scare you? How low were you when you pulled the main?? How long did you futz around with it?? Approx altitudes when you chopped and had a flying reserve (even with Line Twists)?? I mean stuff happens at times jumping and depending on the altitude your at when you chop obviously you either have time or you dont. I think you get my questions reasons as they relate to the Skyhook statment you made. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

American History and Air and Space. The American history museam is amazing, but really so are the rest. I put Natural History 3rd. Dont forget the crapload of other things in DC history related.... 3 Days is not enough. I lived in the area growing up and through undergrad and I still always managed to find new to me cool stuff.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I got this sent to me and got a chuckle out of it. It was an attempt from my wife to get me eating ore butter as she hates Margarine. No idea if its true but I have done a helluva a lot of damage to myself if it is........ Some interesting facts about margarine that someone sent to me: "Pass the butter ~ ~ ~ ~ This is interesting. Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back. It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings. DO YOU KNOW...the difference between margarine and butter? Read on to the end...gets very interesting! Both have the same amount of calories. Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams. Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study. Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods. Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added! Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods. Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years. And now, for Margarine.. Very high in Trans fatty acids. Triple risk of coronary heart disease. Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol) Increases the risk of cancers up to five fold. Lowers quality of breast milk. Decreases immune response. Decreases insulin response. And here's the most disturbing fact.... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING! Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC.. You can try this yourself. Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things: * no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something) * it does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value; nothing will grow on it Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?" "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

They might have lost 2 points. I just did a quick count and skipped the first 2 with the video and it was pretty close to 47 minus the first 2 in time. I would be interested to see the scoring sheets.. Still WOW!!! Scott C. Edited to add Read through the article on NSL and they say only one point lost on Exit NJ... That is a pet peeve of mine a well and I do agree. I am amazed at the number ofpeople that really are not gear knowledgable. People, take a few mintues and get to know your gear! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I agree. I was in a Grad program and ended up leaving with a M.S. after battling with my Proff. It was not good. Politics suck, people out for themselves and expecting you to slave away for 20 hours a day (lab work) and have not a bit of "me" time. Anyway. Academics is a "publish or perish" society till your tenured and even then depending on how the money flow (hard or soft) is set up you still have to watch yourself. Academia is filled with sharks and I after talking to Grad students in different institutions find a good % with bad experiences like I had. You make the best of it, get through it and get out. Some love it and others don’t, I did not like the BS and I am in my field but not actively doing the research BS. Good luck Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

they will fit. take to a rigger and watch if you want to learn about it. If in doubt ASK! and ask to watch Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I love my Wings and have owned and still own a number of other rigs. The Skyhook on the Vector is an awesome selling point though and does separate that rig from others. Infinity, Wings, Javelin, Mirage, and Vector are the ones I see alot. Quasar is spending a lot on ads but I am not seeing too many of them. Dolphin is pretty uncommon now (from a new perspective) Still see die-hard Racer fans but even though it is a comfy rig it is not so common. When your looking at the top 5 they are all pretty close and each has some difference but the Skyhook is a nice bump to put the Vector at the top of a lot of peoples lists. Scott C. I think it currently is hard to say that from what I can and havae seen. The PD line is starting at a higher sell price compared to Smarts. Also not many smarts have popped up for sale, only 1 I think right now. To really compare you have to look at % below average sale price in comparison to the same vintage PD reserves, sub 5 year old. I have seen varying prices but the sample set is really small so still hard to tell. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Elsinore Excel Weekend- March 25-26!

Well, other then it being free as noted above. I think it is a case of discrimination. Basically she can do it since she is a Hottie!! And can skydive very well so she really is a "Super Hottie" and we all know that those types get special treatment! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -
NEW wind chill factor calculator...how cold is it when YOU jump??
sdctlc replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
Now really, dont you think that someone who is so rarely in the air it would have been better to wait till Safety Day tomorrow, and then after absorbing all that you can manage there by reminding you how to be kinda safe, then and only then should you have attempted to jump. I just think you threw caution to the wind and just were being a risk taker...... What kind of example are you trying to be...... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -

I am looking for a GPS unit and did do a search here for units that track info. It seems that the Forerunner and ForeTrex doa good job but are limited in "other" uses i.e. no maps and no memory. But do a great job in getting info but maybe not in downloadig and overlaying on a map, not hard just a small pain. I like the eTrex Vista in that is seems to give everythig but maybe not so small. Poking around on the Garmin site, do you need to get the downloadable "Jumpmaster" update? Basically if I am looking for a unit that I can jump with and use for hiking, geoCaching ect.. it seems that the maps and built in altimeter (bariometric) in the vista gives a great balance. New units are on E-bay for about $200 + shipping so it is not that much more then the ForeTrex. Anyway, please fire away opinions on the units and please keep in mind I am looing not for the really expensive units that have been mentioned but a multifunction and application unit.. thanks Scott C. They have been in use well over 10 years. I had my first set of softlinks put on a rig when I was in Eloy ain the latter part of 1995. Lasted a long time. They were in great shape when I was showing a guy how to change risers with my rig and in his overzealous hast to help out he cut them off. They were the "French lin" kind that had the metal loop and he just could not figure out how to get them off and assumed that they were to be cut off... As a side he did feel bad and got me a new set.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I agree, I have been getting teh Vault stuff since it is on sale at most places for $0.89 and at Albertsons for $0.79 for a 20oz bottle. Cheaper then the comparable sixe by a long shot. Price made me try it and I will keep getting it as long as its cheap.... Saving pennies for jumping I guess. (yeah good old H2O would be cheaper but I need flavor) Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
