Albertsons up the street from me has Arrogant Bastard in the cooler. I have seen it at some other stores like QFC as well.... Hell I even saw it in a Gas Station Mini Mart. Usually a better selection will be at Larrys or QFC but Safeway, Albertsons, hell or even the gas statin MiniMart has a decent selection of beer compared to lots of places I ahve been.. I thik they (PD) should take the approach of this is the customer price! No haggling, no cross comparison between dealers. You know like the used and new car dealers that advertise "Lowest Price Noted" or "No Pressure" ..... blah blah blah If they want to force customer service from dealers, have ALL dealers sell canopies at the same price. Sell for "X" and dealer makes a set amount. Volume dealers, you could argue, should get a slightly bigger break on wholesale cost but they have higher volume based on marketing and name recognition. Take away pricing and you wont hurt small local dealers given there is no price advantage and jumpers may be likely to stay local. Sell more and the dealer will get to a highyer teir and make a few more dollors. Additional discounts Maybe could come into play in the form of a package price with a main and a reserve. Maybne another package price for a complete rig. More you buy the better value on the canopy. Set the customer price and let the money the dealer makes stay behind the scenes as it is really not th customers business anyway. A dealer has the right to make some money as well.. No really Trust me! That is a strange response. Separate from that constant theam that PD seems to be promoting through semi official responses on the forum, I do agree that the forums is probably not the best way to do it. If the manufacturer is not happy with the a % of dealers, why not dump them. It is your product and the manufaturer has the right to all distrbution through any channel they see fit. If the bargain shopper gets his "Quote" through the 1st dealer, what would stop him from trying to do exactly what you have said this will avoid? apparantly there are a number of peices to the puzzel that are left out... the pricing change probably should not have even been noted since the List prices apparantly stayed the same and it is an adjustment on Dealer cost. Maybe inplementing a teir system, I dont know. This seems like a case of Too Much Info for consumers and the statment of it will be better. If the list prices are staying the same why did word even get out that the distrubition set up was changing.. I hope it works out great and that skydivers that want to get a PD canopy find it more efficient, better service and all the other pie in the sky, sugar ferry lollypop dreams that are being alluded to but it seems to be a cluster right now... that is IMHO. of course... I think if your looking to do video of the noted exits ANY side mount helmet will be ther direction to go. Your opening the can of which side mount helmet is best and that would be separate from the S/L or IAD question. Side is going to be better IMHO as top will get you in a funny position in the door for the job at hand. Also side is not going to distract you from the Jumpmaster job in getting into the funny position in the door. Just my $0.02 or in Canada Money $0.0224603 Scott C. I would try and get a clear picture of what happened though, it will probably give you a better understanding of the system, how a parachute works and such.. Take it as a learning experience!! I am in a dtisribution business that is very competitive. That said, 3 things I dont want are customers knowing what our manufacturer relationship is. I dont want the manufacturer to know what my relationship is with the customers and I really dont want to have my competition openly know my customers pricing as then they can undercut. You sell two ways relationship/service and price. It is a balancing act to give the service and sell at a price point that makes you money but also gives the customer a reason to feel that the price they pay is worth the service and product received. The internet throws a kink in for prudent shoppers giving them a price heavy decision position since research is available and less service is needed. Information is readily avaliable as has been pricing. I have not searched for a price since yesterday but I am guessing this will try to put deep discount pricing aside. Not sure it will work as there are probably dealer levels, i.e. 1st teri pricing and 2nd teir pricing ect. I dont know as I am not a dealer for PD but if I have a raise in cost but no raise in list, I have no choice but to add to the cost to the customer. This is probably going to give them a what the hell attitude and will make them look around more. Sound like the dealers hands will be tied a bit. I will be watching and comparing the selling model I see in the PD case to other distribution / manufacturer relationships as it is always good from a distribution point of view to see how the market reacts to the change. You have to take it as it is. It is a toy for this guy that has cost him 1/4 of a mil... good for him! I just think it is crazy that people get so uppity about this type of thing. Comparing it to point break or cutaway is silly as they are complete entertainment farse and "suspension of disbelief" is usually a requirement in theose cases. Has anybody tried the diamond lens on the 25mm thread HC series. I know poeple have and are using it, I am curious if anyone HERE is using that. The 25mm lens is so small I know they claim no sidtortion but it seems so small at 25mm.
