2 vastly differing tones in the first 2 responses. Both have validity and the trick is going to be what your goals are. I would have to say that the 1st thing for you to do is to jump more and get a running log going. 200 jumps in 12 years, or about 16 a year, is not going to really have given you much to work from in terms of current skills other then hopefully having given you a level of "Air Aware" Short of that in many respects you are basically starting from scratch. You have an A license it sounds and no way of proving your currency as you were out of country. I know what the Sim says on currency requirements for an A license holder and at minimum I am guessing you will have to do refresher and a currency jump if you go to a DZ that does not know you. What you have to do will 100% depend on the DZ you go to as in nearly 20 years of jumping I have seen lots of approaches to similar situations.. Not my DZ or my call for you. Basically you are starting from the low point. Hopefully you can quickly get the skills up given you have some in air experience and go from there. Again 16 unlogged jumps a year for 12 years is not going to get you a lot of shortcust for the BS in a Bar reason stated.. You are going to be hard pressed to utilize the previous jumps for ratings as they are undocumented and unless you can somehow document them I would call them "experience" jumps. I found a reference to this crash in the NTSB report on the Perris Vally Otter crash in 1992. They referenced it as one of "Numerous accidents involving sport parachuting operations" --------------------------- On September 29, 1985, a Cessna 208, N551CC, collided with the ground after a loss of engine power shortly after takeoff from Jenkinsburg, Georgia. The airplane was destroyed. The pilot and 16 parachutists were fatally injured. Seatbelts were installed in the cabin in such a way as to be unusable by the parachutists. The Safety Board determined that the probable cause of the loss of power was continued operation with fuel contamination. I got back from the boogie late last night and will start going through the pictures I took... UC put a few of them up a few posts back but I will go through the rest of what I have and get some more up... As for the boogie, Scott C. (the LouDiamond Scott that is) did a very nice talk on Sat night and was very busy with the goings on of the boogie. Sun had him doing lots of first flights so kudos to him for growing the flock! SDA does a great job and they are very open to WS at the boogie and I think it is a lot to do with Scott's work there so a big thanks to him!! Fri Sat and Sun proved to be lots of fun! Got to meet lots of people along with a number of them being dz.com'rs... I enjoyed the jumps and will be looking forward to jumping with them again in the future! A lot of responses are in the same vein.. T he 7 cell is a fantastic and docile canopy in most cases and yes their are exceptions to that but the trade off is less performance compared to a 9 cell. The Spectre is a often sought after canopy and holds its value well. Very popular in areas that demand a good consistent openings. It is great for younger and older jumpers but depending on your goals it might not be the right canopy for you. The classifieds will show ~27 wanted or for sale adds for that make of canopy. Take a look and if your not happy go with a "tamer" 9 cell like a Pilot, Safire or Sabre2... If you really want to save some look to the Sabre 1, I jumped one for close to 1000 jumps before going small and fast and have now gone back to one for Wingsuiting.. funny thing is I was looking for a Spectre but could not find one I was happy with the pricing on so I got a older Sabre1` for a great price! http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/search.cgi?d=1&query=spectre&catid=29 Going with the spectre will give you a huge margin of error in learning. I feel you can get a similar margin on a lightly loaded Sabre, Sabre2, Safire, Pilot ect but get more performance out f it in the air. If you really want to change your probably going to be OK selling your Spectre and turning around and buying a different canopy morein the class your looking at wanting in terms of performance. Mind you higher performance is fun but you have to be aware as things happen faster in terms of going wrong...
