I'd like to re-line it with micro-lines...Then it would really fly... It was built before bill had come up with micro-line.... It has a retracting pilotchute thats really cool...Pd never got it to work good... It had 9jumps on it and 7 were cutaways when I got it.. I did a rebuild on it and has opened ever time since... But what do I know Killer....

From the pd web site on slinks it says: and I quote: In our tests, the Performance Design's Slink© survived at loadings beyond the suspension lines and/or riser! In our testing, the failure point of the system was repeatedly the suspension lines or the webbing attaching the three rings to the riser. In comparison tests, the PD reserve soft link survived tests that caused failures and/or severe damage to #4 and #5 stainless steel links! The PD Soft links not only survived these tests, but showed no signs of damage. So... If I read this right the riser will fail bafore the slink will.... So I have a bent rapid link or a failed riser at the 3ring.... I'll take a bent or failed rapid link over the failed riser... I can land with a bent rapid link... When you make one part stronger the failure point just moves... I don't want to move the failure point to the risers 3ring point... One total failure on a rapid link would still keep a canpoy over my head... A failed three ring and your dead... Killer... DOOR......

Lets look at the cops in NYC that fu@ked a guy with a night stick and a mop handle.... Three cops were there when it happened and "EVERY ONE" in the place knew what had happened.... Not one cop can forward.... They all said? I don't know.... The one cop how told the truth was only doing it to save his own a$$.... thats the thin blue line for you... Now.... Are all cops like that? NO.... But till you clean-up the crap... It'll always smell Killer....

This is from the FAA... http://www.airweb.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgAD.nsf/0/8BBA98EC1431EC5C86256A37006FD2D1?OpenDocument&Highlight=gq%20parachute http://www.airweb.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgTSO.nsf/MainFrame?OpenFrameSet Didn't find anything that said I can't jump it... Maybe it's "OLD" in your eyes...And it even has a Back of leg pilot chute... But it looks like new and not a thing wrong with it... You may buy in to the "new time limits" that get thrown around...And if it more then "X" years old it's no good bull... But till the faa sends me a Letter saying the TSO is void and I as a master rigger can't jump it .. I'll keep jumping it... How are slinks "Smarter" then a rapid link thats been installed by a master rigger? From what I know about the slinks they completely fail when over loaded...They also spread the load over a smaller area then a rapid link... Were a rapid link will still hold after being over loaded... the barrel threads give way before the steel snaps.... As the rapid link will bend and take a much higher laod without total failure... The rubber bumper keeps the lines and riser in the right alignment for opening loads... Now... Are slinks "Cool looking" yes... Do they work...yes.. Are they smarter? I don't think so.... It like mini risers and mini 3-rings... real cool looking but not worth the risk in my book.... I was told long ago.... There are old skydivers and bold skydivers.... But theres no old bold skydivers... Killer....

It was the first crossbraced canpoy ever.... Flys really nice.... I don't need to kill myself to have fun.. I like to fly the thermals on a summer day and stay up for 10 to 15 min.... after my freefall... Can you do that? In 25 years I've never hurt myself and don't plan on starting now.... Skydiving is about fun... Not killing your self... Killer.....

People with out a clue talking about running a DZ.. The dropzone with a 182 and a few student rigs and a tandem Do it for the love of the sport and a few bucks at the end of the year as long as every thing goes great... throw a rod when you drop a cylinder and your in the hole for a year or two... The Ranch got turbine aircraft when bill richards got jumpers with money to put up $10,000 each so they could get a otter... It was about the love of the sport.... Students have been the backbone of skydiving since the 60's.... I don't like were skydiving has gone.... Jumpers who don't pack or "really" know how to spot... Never had to wash the belly of the 182 for a bad spot... Never sat in the hanger with a case of beer in the rain watching "Masters of the Sky" or know the story of CG godfrog by heart for your "A" test... and the fun of a crossbow tied to a pick-up truck on windy days... We did it for the love of the game... you can keep your turbines .... I'll always love that old cessna of mine.... I'll always be faithful, I'll jump her till the and of time.... Killer.....

OK..... I'll give up now.... I'll stick with my B-12 snaps and big safe chutes... In 15years of running a drop zone I never had a rapid link fail or a B-12 snap fail for that matter... I just must be a old fart... Hell.... I still have a SAC in my GQ system with that 190sqft Excaliber ... Killer...

1) Slinks are stronger than Rapide links 2) It is hard to see cracks in a Rapide Link that could lead to failure. There have been a lot of Rapide link failures and 1 (because of very poor maint on the part of the jumper) Slink failure. Slinks are better than Rapide links in every way. Derek Show me "ONE" rapid link that was installed by a rigger with lock-tite and a bumper that failed... A TSO'd rapid link will not have a hair line crack in it.. Thats why they are tso'd... You know that... Are slinks good? Yes... Are rapid links good? Yes... Killer....

Not always.....I find the reports on bad cops funny in the fact that they "always" back them up... The thin blue line.... I have friends that are in law inforcement.... They think the same way as me... Killer

Every state has its own Waco/ruby ridge... The only way police will help the people get behind them is to go after the bad cops... Till they do... We will still have a poor outlook on the police... Killer...

I would not use soft links on a reserve... A properly installed rapid link of the right size "WILL NOT FAIL" ... Now if you want to use the smallest link on a micro line reserve to save 2/10th of a oz. you go right ahead... That goes with the jumper who is jumping a sub-100 sqft reserve to be COOL.... I sit back and shake my head at people killing themselves with the safest parachute equipment we have ever had.... Every and I mean" EVERY" equipment manufacturer out there are tired of people killing themselves on their gear... When are the riggers and sales people gone stop selling and packing these "DEATH RIGS" waiting to happen.. Killer.....

killler replied to riggerrob's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thats why you do a string drop... people will tend to get one or two each.... Better then one guy selling the whole pallet....We did airdrops before with small bundles.... works really well for a fast way to get help to people... Killer.... -

The link was not installed right... Most likely by a jumper who new it all.... A rapid link installed the right way on the riser and with lock tight and a rubber bumper to keep the lines in place will not fail The rapid link in the picture was not installed right and did not have a bumper and lock tight on the barrel... Or the person stripped the barrel by over tightening it... Or it was a non-tso'd link from the hardware store I've seen some of those in my day... Killer....

Recount again... and again.. and maybe again
killler replied to PhreeZone's topic in Speakers Corner
So they counted three times and got three different totals.... The last total is for the DNC by a few votes and the first two counts were for the GOP... Now the GOP wants to know were the extra votes came from? The DNC should have let it go the first time after the second recount.... The vote is now so messed up it can never be "FAIR"... All it takes is to punch a hole in the ballots that the person did not vote for governor.... As someone who oversee the counting of ballots in my town, Not all people vote for every race... Thats why the machine vote is the fairest way to go.... Killer.... -
As a father of three grown kids... 17,19 and 21 the thing is to answer only what they ask.... Keep it simple and to the point.... And make sure he knows that he's safe and loved and not in any danger...

The CG is not a problem in the C-182 class aircraft when the seating is done with the second student sitting with his back to the pilots seat... The jumpmaster's weight is on his knees with is in the normal area of the front seat... The movement of the students always is in the CG envelope... The CG is always moving to nose heavy not the other way... The other thing is the pilot "SHOULD NOT CUT THE POWER WAY BACK" on climbout... The pilot needs to keep from looking at the student and getting involved to the point that the plane departs on him... If you are a jumper and you hear the stall horn, The pilot is not flying the airplane in a safe manner... I never let the Airspeed get under 75mph and like it at 80mph... Thats the way I trained all my pilots to fly and never had a problem.... The "BIG" cut with the stall horn singing is not safe or needed.... The crash in Homestead FL was caused by the pilot cutting the engine way back to help a student in her climb out and then failing to recover the stall.. The student was thrown from the strut in the stall spin and said that Tom (jumpmaster) was pushing the throttle in .... The jumpmaster needs to be on top of things in the aircraft at all times.... Killer.....

The first thing I need to say is... Flying with the control yoke still installed is asking for trouble... If the aircraft was to pitch over and a body gets pushed against that yoke the pilot has a mess to deal with, Now add in a jumpmaster with his back to the "IP" and you have a nightmare.... The jumpmaster should be kneeing with the students back to the "IP"... The jumpmaster has control of the student and the door... If there is trouble the Jumpmaster can open the door and get the student out and then get the others out... The weight and balance is not a problem when the first student exits and the second student is still sitting with his back to the pilots seat.... The jumpmaster just moves the student to the side and then up to the dash for the next jumprun.... I had a student freeze on the step and had to go out and bring them in.... The things that can go wrong up there are countless.... Killer....

At the very lest you should call/write to the rigger who's seal was on the rig.... No one was hurt (just your toe) and the rigger needs a heads up on what he did.... Packing a reserve when your tired or in a hurry is a No No... The check list is your friend.... Most aircraft crashes would not happen if the pilot had used a check list.... Killer....
