  1. I was wondering a little something different about the "wingsuit" mod. How does the container look and function when not using a wingsuit? Any noticable difference in appearance or care (ie closing)? Not just a question for you, anyone reading the thread. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  2. Sounds like a mortgage is coming yor way. Go to eloy while you still can!!!! j/k Maybe next time. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  3. Thats why I think if you're gonna fly back in brakes, unstow them after you open and grab your legstraps if you need help holding them down. Not to sound condesending, but a conrolabality check needs to be done to know if the canopy is landable. Glad your OK, glad you posted this for other people to learn. Somone with less expierence could have been real hurt had they not assesed the situation as quick as you. Get those control lines changed. If im not mistaken, too large a cats eye can lead to premature brake release also. Not something you want at 2.4! Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  4. I've thought about the extra air speed thing. I've heard 2 schools of thought. One is yours, the other is that double fronts deform the airfoil, thus making the canopy more succeptable to turbulence. Scott Miller said its a give and take situation. More airpressure is good, but now your probably heading for the ground a lot faster and if you have a collapse... Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  5. Step to the side when you hear a toilet flush! The Skydiving magazine add for the ranch says it all! Dirt cheap, baby! Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  6. If I recall correctly, when I had this conversation w/ Scott, he said most people say a canopy dives less in high winds. The reason he said they came to this conclusion is in say, a 180 turning into the wind, on a no wind day the jumper turns, lands, no problem. In, say, 20mph winds, he turns, during the dive isnt making the same headway over the ground (ground speed) sees himself now diving straight at the same point on the ground, and says, oh shit, I better pull out, whether consious or not. It is only the ground that makes the difference. Or, more correctly, the pilot that makes the difference. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  7. Your canopy doesnt know there is wind presented to the top skin. It knows nothing about wind. There is more wind at alltitude than you would ever jump in on the ground. If that were true, your canopy wouldnt dive at all up top, right? The only factor here is in stronger winds, you most likely arent moving over the ground at the same rate because your ground speed would be different than you're used to(the only difference clean wind makes) and you will most likely not use the same amount of input. Pilot induced. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

    NY again

Its winter madness now. There are rigs to rent if you dont want to bring yours, but you know the weather will be great weather if you dont! Hell if you let people know you took one for the team, they might even spot you the money to rent! Probably not but Im sure they will get you good and polluted! 9. Mine are OP that I think blow gators away, and they are only $15. But then again, thats with my face. I love my glasses. When I've jumped w/ no helmet, they havent budged a bit. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  10. I've seen all the hot footage, or at least the daily videos. Jerm unloaded it all on night in the bar. Pretty cool stuff, watching it day by day. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  11. I spoke w/ Scott Miller at lenght about this. Your canopy doesnt know if there is 70kts of wind or no wind at all. It only knows the inputs the pilot gives it. Now in turbulence, all bets are off. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  12. Im sure Wyat will have one, not sure how long he'll let you horde it, though. Ill have a 169 (most likely) if you feel like boring the crap out of yourself at a 1.7 or whatever your wl is on that tank! Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  13. And now me an Kim are 202 and 203. Fuckin slackers, make someone else put us over the hump! Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  14. Jim Slatons speed run at panama city. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  15. He did pretty good. He wasnt as happy as he could have been, so he went up and did it again. Said he wanted to get his exit down. I told him good thing, you dont know how many people I see with hundreds of jumps that couldnt exit stable if they tried. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  16. Yeah, I would, but I kind of need a car for some other stuff. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  17. Ok Im jumping in here. Was about to book my tickets and rentalcar when I saw they wanted to bang me almost $100 extra in fees and whatnot. Is this only around phoenix or is an arizona thing. Rental is gonna cost as much as my ticket! Anyone know any top secret tricks to scoring wheels that wont land me in the klinker? Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  18. I saw luke aikens do that one at psn 02. In 01 was the first appearance of the mctwister (i think) when mid swoop he popped up and piled a toffle down, and the canopy did a 360 before he hit the water. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  19. Check this out search Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  20. I saw a guy try it his first time on landing and piled into the ground. He bounced back and was fine, but he learned quite a bit. It looked like he dove, planed out a bit and went back into the same angle of the dive in the stall. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  21. You need food for energy for the other 2. Or you could do all 3 at once! Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  22. The former S+TA of my dz has it on the top of all his rigs and I asked him a while back what it meant. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  23. eat fuck skydive Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  24. Do what I did, (for my next one, here in 2 weeks) get the brightest colors you can so everyone can see you swoop the shit out of it! Or you could go with 3 or 6 or bytch's is pretty cool too. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  25. It takes common sense! If the light is on, check for traffic, check the spot and jump. If the light is off, stay in the plane. The spot could be perfect but the pilot sees fit for me to stay in the plane, so I do. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
