  6. The student gear is not loaded nearly as high wing load wise compared to personal gear, and they are not fully elliptical 27 cell performance canopies. So no they're not nearly as prone to line twist as are personal rigs. But don't let that let complacency set in. Any canopy can spin up, a small thing like a trash packed rig, maybe it's a busy day at the DZ and the DZ packers are packing student gear and their client's gear as well. I never do a really neat pack job, I'm an admitted trash packing dog. They open, but they are entertaining! I've had a lot of crazy stuff happen to me, but nothing I couldn't never get fixed in time, close a couple of times. 1 canopy swap in almost 14 years of jumping! I used to have a cut-away rig, just a belly mount rig where you could deploy it, cut it away, then deploy your main. I learned a lot, but the reason I started doing it is because I was coming up on 300 jumps and had never had the situation to cut away. It got to where it was consuming me with fear. I couldn't get it off of my mind, that's why I did what I did. What I can tell you is constantly practice your EP's when the time comes, it'll be second nature. Good luck! Best- Richard

I believe with all of the very intelligent minds we have here we can stop these thieving "people" in their tracks. I hate thieves, well I don't hate them. Hate the sin, Love the sinner! Best- Richard
  8. You mean to tell me your not cognizant of the fact that your a PITA? Best- Richard
  9. Please move to Giddings, Texas and become one of our citizens!! And bring all of your friends with you!
  10. O.K. Then, lets think about something else; I feel like it will draw more negative press, than positive press. I understand he did it 25 years ago, but that doesn't ensue him any better skills. I know your not saying if you do something every 25 years your way better at it than you were 25 years ago. Are you?
  11. What ever you do, don't ever join a Volunteer Fire Department, you'll hate it. Bad enough you risk your life and carry 100 lbs of equipment, and suck down oxygen, but your doing all of it for free. It felt good to give something back to the community, but it was a lot of hard work. Best- Richard
  12. I think a small GPS tracking device hidden in the reserve pack tray would be a nice improv. What do you think? Best- Richard
  13. Absolutely, positively one of the most insane, ignorant things I've ever seen. I just hope it doesn't cause other adventurous people to mimic the stunt. it's one thing to do something cool and krazy, but this is just foolishment meant for people who have a death wish. I was 40 when I started sky Diving and this wouldn't have amused me then, I'm 54 now and I'm still simply not amused in the least. Best- Richard
  14. weatherbug.com There's the paid for download, and paid for version. I've used it for years, pretty good utility. Best- Richard
  15. Your from Canada ya freaking canook, you go preach some where else. I don't appreciate your claims that these type of incidents are prevelant in the USA. Well, considering your climate in cnookada, I can see where it could happen more here than where you live. Talk about ignorant...go preach somewhere else Ya Jerk.
  16. Bla......Bla......Bla....
  17. BS Question, meritless and calls for speculation. Regarding his question, it's pointless. We all know the next jump may be the last. So I'm calling BS on this ignorant question. I mean if you knew the next time you crossed the street, would you do it, or would you stay home the rest of your life? And besides, if you died sky diving, "Suicide" would be the cause of death. I had my life insurance policy canceled because of this. Best- Richard
  18. Good stuff Brian. Mods, need to make this a sticky! Best- Richard
  19. Do you think it's a good thing, or a bad thing? I consider him a pioneer in our sport and always have. Best- Richard
  20. I gotta ask, do you wear corrective lenses? If so, I've seen a lot of people fly without their glasses and not have the proper depth perception to land properly. If you do need prescription eye wear, a company called SportRx Dot Com makes skydiving goggles with you lenses in them. They come in an array of colours, so you kind of have your pick. Should this not be your problem, adhere to the previous advice giving. Good Luck. Best- Richard
  21. Yeah, well that was back in 1998, so I doubt I could do anything to him now. Initially it was just supposed to be a simple cartilage repair. But when they got inside AFTER I was good and under, the cartilage was worse than the MRI showed up, at least that's what I was told. So they took a graft off of my ACL to repair my miniscus. They didn't wake me up to get my permission to do it, HAH! Needless to say when I woke up I was in a world of pain, and no pain killers. They sent me to re-hab and assigned me a device that I had to sleep with, It strapped on beneath your knee, and above your knee, and was hinged in the middle. This "Contraption" was a medieval device. It kept my knee flexing the entire time I wore it. It would stretch your knee/leg out, and then pull on it a bit each time. Needless to say, I didn't get a lot of sleep during this process. I didn't get to walk out of surgery like he said I would (His name Is Dr. (Quack) Sandy Boehm) and it was a 6 month process....without pain killers. When I asked him for some pain killers, he advised he was a Born-Again-Christian and didn't prescribe them, I couldn't friggin' believe it. NEVER AGAIN. I finilalized the phys-rehab myself as I have always worked out and have several universal gyms, and free weights. That was the easiest, and cheapest part. Best- Richard
  22. Your in for some phys-rehab you won't begin to believe. When they did mine, they told me I would be able to walk out...LIARS! I was 6 months coming back from that surgery. They repaired my cartilage as well. The surgeon that performed my surgery was a born again christian (N joke) and he refused to prescribe any pain meds. Absolutely couldn't believe it. I wish you all the best. Richard
  23. Remember This Video? I remember them saying this was a couple of years old, but it is obviously still happening. Richard
  24. What's the big deal? Let them raise the deployment altitudes. I generally pitch anywhere f/ 3500-2500 anyway. Freaking canopy takes a good 800' snivel. When I was flying my Cobalt, I used to deploy in a track, or a sit position just to get the "Two stage opening" to get the rag open. I'm all for raising deployment altitudes. Like it or not, we're losing too many of our peers. I commend the work our BOD is doing & believe we have some of the best minds in the sky diving world there. From an S&TA's point of view, I reckon a pair of binoculars with a range finder should work quite nicely! Best- Richard
