I don't know if what I'm about to say is really going to be all that helpful, but I'll share anyways. Poe wrote an essay titled "The Philosophy of Composition" which has stired up a bit of controversy in the literary world. The essay is about how to compose the ideal poem. He does talk about "The Raven" in this essay and reading if might help you write your paper. I found this off of a google search... me rambling about what I think he said would not have been helpful... the below quote should be helpful. Infact, I wrote a paper on Poe about 6 months ago.. if you want to read it. "In the essay Poe also discusses his method of composing “The Raven.” He claims to have given much thought to his selection of the refrain, recognizing in it the “pivot upon which the whole structure might turn.” His selection of the word “Nevermore” came after considering his need for a single, easily remembered word that would allow him to vary the meaning of the lines leading up to it. The poem uses this refrain, or variations of it, as the closing word for each stanza. The stanzas become increasingly dramatic as the speaker makes observations or asks questions that reveal his growing tension and diminishing reason. The narrator begins with innocent and amusing remarks that build in a steady crescendo to intense expressions of grief, all of which conclude with “Nevermore” or one of its variants."

"I don't care what else you do, just promise me you'll only marry a nice, kind man."

After lots of prep, practice exams, reading and tedious memorization... tomorrow is the big day. 8 am tomorrow the madness starts and ends a couple of hours later and then I can stop the studying. yay! One of my coworkers started quizzing me this evening as I was walking out the door and THAT made me nervous. Eeek. I'm pretty confident that I'll make at least a 70 (which passes me) - I'll probably get a B. Any words of advice/wisdom would be greatly appreciated. However, I fear at this point I'm either gonna pass or I'm screwed.

So we can confuse and annoy the heck out of people like you when you see someone walking around the grocery store who appears to be talking very loudly to themself. Really though, I just don't like to disconnect it from my cell phone. It's much easier to just leave in on my ear and continue on about my business. However, I generally only make a point of using it while I'm driving.

Lunesta. It's amazing.

So the Austin, TX MS 150 was this past weekend and I don't recall seeing a thread about it. I'd love to hear stories from anyone who has completed that bike ride. I had a lot of fun cheering everyone on at the finish line. One guy did it on a unicycle - crazy! My mom completed it and I was so proud. She's 53 and far from being an athlete. It inspired me to train and ride it next year with her. Anyone of you guys ride?

What I want to know is how you took that picture without temporarily going blind...

Ya know... I've had a bad day, too. No beer in my apartment though... I guess I'll go to sleep instead.

She said...If you ever cheated, i would forgive you...
SarahC07 replied to watchdog2's topic in The Bonfire
... maybe she thinks you've cheated on her and she really wants to know about it. She wants you to confess, so she's creating what appears to be a passive, happy, calm and inviting situation for you to do so. Do not be fooled. Either way... seriously... go freakin ask her... I don't know the conversation ended without you asking? -
Yeah, I'm in the same boat...

... I'm glad I'm not the only one. ;-)

Is it just me or do they look to be different sizes?

Perhaps a long term relationship is not defined by the length of the relationship but rather the level of committment between both parties.

Fun things to do in Lubbock, TX. on a Tuesday night?

NOTHING! -
I think I spent all afternoon at work with a button on my blouse undone. Yeah, the one right there below the boobs. Way to go me. Seriously, it's really kinda embarrassing. Tell me something more embarrasing so that I feel better.

Perhaps her wanting to go to boogies with you is a symptom of a problem in the relationship. *shrugs* Maybe she feels a bit neglected? Or she feels threatened by the atmosphere at the dropzone and is worrying about you cheating? It seems to me something more is probably going on in her head. Taking some time to try to get her to talk about it might be a good idea. I just don't understand why one would willingly volunteer to go to an event they're gonna be really bored at. How long have you guys been dating?

People are getting a little vicious with responses... Maybe I'm crazy but here is what I do... I have a master excel spread sheet that I track EVERYTHING I spend... ok, so I am crazy. On one tab, I have columns for food, household items, variable bills (electricty, water, etc), fixed bills (rent, car payments, gym membership, etc), Gas and related car expenses, random needs (like doctor's visits) and entertainment. I budget a certain amount to each category(it might take a few months to get the amounts right) and when you max out a category - stop spending. And it's fun when you under spend in a few categories and all of a sudden you have 100 bucks to do with as you please. I put it into savings. Track it all and see where you spend your money. Personally, I get off under 300 dollars on food a month... but I hardly eat out and I eat healthy, so it's all pretty cheap. I have another tab where I price compare. I shop at different stores to see where I can get stuff that I buy regularly the cheapest. I still buy the expensive toilet paper! If you have Time Warner for Cable/internet, check with them regularly for specials. I was paying twice as much as I'm paying now just because I called and asked about a special a coworker had mentioned to me. Buy a newspaper and cut coupons. Honestly, Walmart will give you the best price.... but sometimes the coupons run double at Kroger and you can get stuff super cheap. Plus you get to see who's running the best sales...

How to address someone who has created an unsafe situation.
SarahC07 replied to DAVE619's topic in The Bonfire
Forget about what he/she did for a minute and think about the person. Each person handles criticism and correction differently. It's about how the person will handle what's being said to them. Now if this person is a repeat offender or has some other character trait that requires you to YELL at them for them to understand you... that's different. You can calmly and politely explain to someone just how dangerous what they did was. And how angry you are. I completely agree with what Dave posted. -

I don't personally like the look of the current one at all. I believe Option 2 is too cluttered and Option 4 would be hard to read. I voted for Option 3. I don't know what it is about Option 1 but it didn't catch my eye. Best of luck :-)

No, but accountantas do!

I voted #5. I think it's the only one with orange and red that isn't 'too much' ... I don't like the yellow/black combo that much.... :p

Yeah, he and the little lady are still living in College Station. He's probably working or skydiving or watching weird manly tv shows. That's the Dave I know.
