  1. My thoughts: A 1 GB shuffle by iPod is just fine - it holds 300-400 songs if I remember correctly and it's pretty durable. And you're right he'll drop it, lose it, abuse it, etc. Plus, by the time he's 16 someone is going to have come up with something way cooler... and he'll want that.

  3. So, I know you probably don't count them... but guess.
  4. Man, you must know someone who knows someone who knows me .... One of my co-workers (she's outsourced and works in St. Louis) forwarded this to me in an e-mail yesterday.

  6. I think blending the coffee grounds, coca cola and egg shells is worse... lord, how could anyone drink that?
  7. Oh did I mention, I'm trying to stay away from artifical sweetners, as well. One of my top three reasons for attempting to cut out soda altogether. Why do I insist on torturing myself so?
  8. Seriously people, I've tried drinking coffee and tea in place of soda... and nothing seems to do the trick. There is more caffeine in coffee compared to soda. I can even make it a week and a half without any soda - but I always come crawling back.
  9. Oh and for any musicians out there... this is entertaining... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSecr22waoE&eurl=http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=8332824
  10. I'm addicted to soda. Diet coke most of the time... If I'm really lazy and tired it's Dr.Pepper. How the hell can I kick this addiction? It's not a caffeine addiction - I'm about 95% sure. IT'S THE BUBBLES. I just can't get away from the stuff. I've given up meat... but I can't give up soda.... how ridiculous is that? Tea just won't cut it. Anyone got any suggestions?
  11. Perhaps that passion supporting her drive and hard work has crumbled under the stress of it? And she feels a bit hopeless... Or maybe the passion she thought she had isn't really there at all? Just speculation, of course... but maybe?
  12. While we're at it - I thought this movie was great. I recommend you take the little people to see it.

    Beowulf

AGREED. There was no consistency. Some of the characters looked like real live human beings and some of them look almost completely digitally created. Poorly done. I think the movie was entertaining but not very well presented. However, the demons were fairly well done - that first thing scared the crap out of me. And Ms. Jolie was obviously digitally edited - so much in fact that even her face didn't look like her and forget about her body.

Has anyone seen this one yet? If so, I'd like to hear what you thought of it.
  15. Yeah, I was at a Texas Exes event in Houston watching the game with a few longhorn friends of mine. The Aggies were few and far between - maybe a dozen of us in the bar. But we had a hell of a time yelling and screaming and the poor longhorns just looked disgusted. It was just fantastic.
  16. That was amazing. And how about the Aggies beating the Longhorns?? That was pretty bad ass as well.
  17. THAT is pretty damn awesome.
  18. My concern is more so that in my working relationship I should be treated as an employee, but I am actually be treated as an independent contractor. Technically, my boss could get in some big trouble if the IRS found out. If the IRS never finds out (and they probably won't unless someone squeals) nothing will happen. Really, it doesn't matter. If I can deduct expenses because I'm a contract worker, then that's better for me. I'm just frustrated with my boss.
  19. The IRS has a supplemental section published to help people determine if they are an independent Contractor vs Employee: http://www.irs.gov/publications/p15a/ar02.html#d0e602 The 3 factors they outline: 1. Behavorial Control An employee is generally subject to the business' instructions about when, where, and how to work; if you are doing a job that required specific training, you're probably an employee and not an independent contractor. 2. Financial control "An independent contractor is generally free to seek out business opportunities. Independent contractors often advertise, maintain a visible business location, and are available to work in the relevant market." 3. Type of relationship ... I'm not up for typing this section, but it you're really interested... take a look at the link...
  20. Forgive me, I'm young and still figuring this shit out... According to the IRS, my employment relationship is supposed to be "common law employee/employee"; however, for tax purposes I'm being treated as an independent contractor. I'm not having any taxes withheld from my pay, but so far as my responsibilities go I am definitely being treated as an employee. How does one handle this situation? I think my boss is educated enough to know what he's doing and knows what he's doing is 'wrong'. I did my research here: http://www.irs.gov/publications/p15a/ar02.html#d0e602 If you were me, how would you handle this situation? Confront my boss?
  21. It's been 7, almost 8 months. We ended it while we were living about 4.5 hours away from each other. And now I live about 12 minutes from him, we have mutual friends, and we talk at least once or twice a week. A group of us went out last night - obviously, he was there. Without contaminating bonfire with all the details that may or may not mean anything ... a mutual friend, who's known me for 5 years and him for closer to 10 years ... said to me last night "Awww, you guys were flirting, it was too cute." to which I kinda sighed. She said to me "Just let him do what he needs to do, you do what you need to do and I think you'll end up back together." What I'm doing may be self destructive, but I'm not willing to give up on him altogether. He's an awesome person, and if a friend is all I get to keep, then so be it.
  22. ... AND IT'S FRIGGIN MAKING ME CRAZY. But it's okay 'cause I'm listening to Give It To Me by Timbaland and Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by Daft Punk... AND I'm semi intoxicated... ... that is all.
  23. About the increased appetite - I usually eat a lot more when I'm ... a) eating too much sugar. My trainer wants me to keep it under 50 grams a day - harder than it sounds... b) not sleeeping enough - It's like I trade in sleep for food to get more energy. c) I've recently changed my cardio and my body is working much much harder than it previously was. d) I'm not drinking enough water. Just thought I'd throw that in there before i pack it up to go to the gym
