  1. Would this 'FunBobby' title be from a tv show? ... like "friends"... or are you really just FUN Bobby? ~Sarah
  2. Here's a GREAT pic of AggieDave at a tunnel just north of Houston in Conroe... AggieDave took me out to this tunnel to work on some leg awareness issues ... and then played in the tunnel himself.... lol... It was fun!
  3. Not really on the topic, but a quote I kinda like ... "If A is succes in life, then A equals x plus y plus z. Work is X, Y is play and Z is keeping your mouth shut."
  4. That's really funny to me, because for some reason... spotting ... or sticking my head out of the plane next to the person who is spotting... always made me feel less nervous (and this was when i had like 10-15 jumps).... It's twisted I know ... but what can I say? ~Sarah
  5. I completely agree... I think that's why this sport is damn addicting. Sarah
  6. Well, I have 28 jumps and somewhere after my 20th jump I got over most of my fear.... don't get me wrong, I still get nervous, but nothing like before... hell, skydiving wouldn't be as fun if you didn't get that little 'punch' in the stomach on the plane ride up.... But as soon as i'm out the plane (assuming the dive flow goes without malfunctions) I'm cool... Oh and when I try new things (like different exits, etc.)... the excitement and that little 'punch' of fear mix to make the jump all that more exciting... In fact sometimes I think my little hint of fear is more excitement then fear.... It almost scares ME that I'm not as fearful as before... I think I'm beginning to get the mind set that I'm invincible ... I want to try everything and think I won't ever get hurt.... AND I really really really don't want to have that mind set.... ~Sarah
  7. Woohoo! Yeah, get some pics posted! Of course, I'll be out there tomorrow but ~Sarah
  8. Geez, way to make me feel bad... Now I think I remember... you were at Aggieland ... what was it? A week ago? Doing some jumps with Todd? We all went out to eat afterwards and you made a comment about how cool it was that all of us skydivers could go out to eat together..... something that apparently doesn't happen back at home? ~Sarah
  9. Heh, to get an A license these days you have to land 20 meters from a target ... 5 times, I believe... And when i say a little more than 20 meters from a target, I really mean like 200 meters from my target...haha, okay, so maybe it wasn't THAT far, but I was WAY off.... it was a good learning experience... I thought for a moment I wasn't going to land within the landing area(which would of been a first)... BUT I did...
  10. Heh, I did something like that this evening... (I'm still on student status, but just barely.... I have 28 jumps and need ONE more accuracy and a check dive to get my A license...) I rolled out of the plane at 13000 and pulled about 11500.... then learned some new things about canopy control... one of my instructors (AggieDave briefed me on some stuff to try under canopy) was also on this dive... and right there at the same altitude as me, well... for the most part basically.... it was cool to be under canopy that high (no clouds though )... however, it took a heck of a long time for me to get down (.83 wingloading, I believe)... and when I did get down to 1000... I was having too much fun with my spirals and landed a little more than 20 meters from my target... needless to say I did NOT get my last accuracy... BUT I had fun, I learned a lot and I'm safe.... I plan on playing around up there more once I'm licensed... ~Sarah
  11. Yeah Dave, get me on my head!!! The tunnel was a great ... I'd love to go back now since I have more jumps... ~Sarah
  12. Hehe, funny you should ask.. I recently went up on what I like to call an "unescorted freefall" jump (I'm still on student status... I got ONE more accuracy and a check dive and then it's A license all the way, baby! ) ...but anywho, I went up to altitude, had a fun exit and then did whatever the heck I wanted to do in freefall... including multiple forward and backward flips... FUN! tip: pretend like you're in a swimming pool! ... just do it ... whatever happens it's gonna be FUN! ~Sarah
  13. Well, AggieDave's question was for me Thanks again! However, I spoke with the owner of the container today and she directed me to her rigger, Mike. Mike told me that this Vector 3 (size V328) is sized for 330 - 365 cubic inches and a Spectre 150 is 370 cubic inches.. Apparently, the owner of the container jumped it with a Spectre 150 main and a Precision 135 (or is it a 136?) reserve for just over 100 jumps I don't suppose a PD 126 reserve would fit in there with a Spectre 150 main... Any comments? Oh and something else ... according to that canopy chart a Monarch 135 is 379 cubic inches and a PD 150 is 382 cubic inches and BOTH are listed as canopies sized for this vector... BUT the Spectre 150 is not and it's only 370 cubic inches... ~Sarah
  14. WOW, I didn't even ask a question and you have helped me with my current dilemma. What to buy!?! I'm looking to purchase some gear of my own as well... SO, if anyone knows of a used Spectre 150 or Sabre2 150 for sale... let me know. I've already posted in the classifieds... no luck yet . Thanks for some great advice! ~Sarah
  15. Well, lets say for comparison purposes... the tempo 150 is 2 years old with no reserve rides... and in good condition... If I were to buy it... and then try to sell it... any idea how much I could get for it? I was thinking I'd buy the complete system, sell the tempo reserve and buy a new PD reserve to replace it. Thanks
  16. Hmm... how do you know I talk to AggieDave about all of this stuff? How does a tempo stack up next to a PD reserve? The tempo I was looking at has no reserve rides... I should really find out how old it is.... hm.... Thanks
  17. Hi! Warning: newbie idiot questions coming your way: I'm looking at used/new gear and came across a complete system that has a tempo 150 reserve. I am only remotely familiar with one type of reserve and it's not a tempo. Does anyone know anything about them? And while I'm asking, what are the main differences in a reserve and a main canopy? Why are reserves generally cheaper than mains? If I were to buy a reserve used, what is the maximum number of rides it should have? In fact, why IS there a maximum number of rides... ? Do the reserves wear down faster? I'm open to any advice.. I'm a newbie with all kinds of idiot questions! Thanks for the help! ~Sarah
