I know its slightly smaller but I have a Silhouette 210 which flies lovely. Very predictable and stable feeling. Can induce some fun into it but nothings too dramatic. Perfect for where I am right now in the sport

Is the British Military Trained by the French?

My next door neighbour isn't my "enemy" but if they tried to steal my car I'd still kick their ass -
Thats enough about your sex life!

For once John... I agree with you -
The Africa Twin not my cup of tea but my uncle getting on in life now and started doing a lot of touring as opposed to weekend blasts so suits him. The ZZR1100 however (Its a Kawasaki by the way) , although being a sports tourer, is fast as fuck and scared the shit out of me being on the back of it. He got it when it was the fastest standard motorcycle, I believe before the Blackbird come out. I know its always a mixed reaction on here when people have stated what bikes they might get but I may well look at a good sporty all rounder. Something like a CBR 600. Common as muck so get bits for them, not a balls out sports bike either but plenty powerful enough to kill myself on if I try hard enough. And as for the whole traffic thing.... if its safe to do what you want to do, go for it. As long as you can hold your hands up and admit it when your caught out or identify when your putting someone else at risk and wind it in for a while, its all good. Traffic doesn't interest me and I hate traffic officers

Its funny you say this, having been in your neck of the woods this weekend (Ludlow) visiting my uncle he took great pleasure in showing me his Africa Twin and ZZR1100. I'm gonna do it and finally get my bike licence. Been meaning to for ages... just as soon as I get back from Emp! Plus my posting at work is probably down the best biking road this side of the county. What could be better than riding to and from work in summer, blasting past the traffic, saving the petrol from my fuel hungry car and starting the day on a high

Is the British Military Trained by the French?
Scoop replied to Duckwater's topic in Speakers Corner
Maybe not the official secrets act but I can't believe they are being allowed to give accounts to the papers. We have a military that is respected and feared by those that would try to cross us. That reputation is being lost Once you've issued a challenge (somehow) and they continue, I would deem that an aggressive act. Why they were put in a position to be overpowered is shameful in itself. I thought I read somewhere that a Lynx helicopter was present. If nothing else why couldnt it forewarn the activity it observed. I cannot believe that the might of the Royal Navy did not have the ability to protect or oversee such an operation, if only in the role of early warning. To then see the troops shaking hands and waving like loons on the telly like they are having a great day out at the pleasure beach is embarrassing (even if under duress) -
Because our country has already been embarrased once. We don't need people appearing in the papers telling us how stressful their ordeal was/wasn't and continuing the embarrassment.

I don't think military matters should be of any concern to the public and media should not be used as a tool to manipulate truth. They also should not be making money out of doing their duties. In my mind, if an unidentified, uninvited or aggressive force approaches a military unit, they should be issued a challenge and then engaged if they continue. Its because of political pressures and media that they are not able to do so, which kind of proves my point about news reporters and the like in war zones. In Britain any person has a power to use any force that they felt was reasonable to defend themselves, including preemptive force. Its laughable when our nations military cant do the same -

I don't believe anything in the media when it comes to miltary operations. Its all a propoganda tool. Media should be banned from all warzones and conflicts as far as I'm concerned. As for the sailors and marines. Im glad they are safe. They are not fucking heroes though like I keep hearing. Heroes are people that do extraordinary acts, not people who get captured. Now they are selling their stories to the papers which is disgusting, whatever happened to the official secrets act. It makes me ashamed to be British when we allow our troops to be captured without even putting up a fight. -
anyone else 'lean forward' while driving to see better up ahead?
Scoop replied to loumeinhart's topic in The Bonfire
If it was good and really helped observation racing drivers would do it. Being relaxed and smooth is the best way to drive. All this nonsense about peripheral vision interferance is bollocks. You should be reading the road WAY AHEAD, not looking at the end of your bonnet. -

I wasn't taught anything We were too busy being taught black history, about oppressed minority groups and other religions so we could be wonderfully diverse as opposed to important stuff. Plus of course I dropped history to study Geography. I always used to get pissed off in religious education when the teacher used to bring in unlevened bread and shit like that for us to try. Some school class, somewhere, is eating a slap up roast dinner in a far away land. Wankers

Sometime you need people motivated to do a dirty job when all other options are exhausted. If they achieve that through bravado and beastings then so be it. Bet they are glad to be getting rid of him

Yeah, I have reliably been informed that the airport will still be running 2 aircraft while that events on. But it'll be cool to go and have a watch.

He's gonna come back a proper sky pikey. Long hair, unshaven, powered by alcohol and adrenaline, desperate to live for jumping with hand-me-down equipment and whoring himself out for jump tickets and cash for food.

Its because of dickeads like this that our force will be installing 'black box' type data recorders in the response vehicles. Soon every part of police driving will be under scrutiny. "So, PC Smith, why was it that on approaching the junction you were still doing 100 mph, surely you couldn't see if it was safe" etc Or for their paticular favourite one "Why was the traction control/ESP turned off at time of the accident?" The guy was a wanker for driving like that and the job as a whole are wankers for prosecuting their own drivers whenever there is an accident. Interestingly, there is no legislation that grants exemption for emergancy vehicles to go through red lights, speed or otherwise contravene the road traffic act. It is accepted practice, which is why doctors with their green 'courtesy lights' often go through red lights or make progress through traffic and almost every private ambulance has blue lights too. Its all about whether you can justify your actions if you were to be questioned which is why each TRAINED police response/pursuit driver can use the lights & sirens at their own discretion. Some are resourced to calls deemed to require an immediate response and downgrade the calls themselves responding casually and sometimes vice versa. I personally think he should be in trouble if he wasn't responding to a call or on a pre-arranged training exercise. I hope he had his police driving permit taken off him and hes been banished to foot patrol for a year. That would be like hell to a traffic officer
