  1. I don't understand the constitution (not being US resident doesn't help). I see it kind of similar to our common law yet we recognise when old piece of shit legislation isn't suitable to todays needs and repeal or ammend it.
  2. I'm dragging my feet so much with my jumping that whoring on websites like this, keeping my head buried in magazines and drooling over kit means I can talk a good story.... I just can't do it or know what it means practically. I'm sure there is a happy medium as you say
  3. I wish I had done SL looking back now. I'd have had much more money and be alot more comfortable with getting out low
  4. I don't see why an educational facility should be expected to provide councilling. If people need help they should seek it themselves privately . Then the money could be better spent on educational needs. We live in such a soft society nowadays concerned with welfare where years ago there wasn't a problem. By proportionality all those that survived through the world wars and all the stresses they faced should have become serial killers having seen whole roads and housing estates bombed, people got on with problems years ago
  5. In my mind this expression 'time in sport' should relate to how experienced they are: ie jump numbers and level of competency. You only get good by doing something. Hanging around the DZ isn't worth a wank if your not jumping and putting stuff into practice as someone who does 1 jump a month for 20 years might do. I wouldn't let a mate who likes tinkering with engines at the weekend service my car, I'd send it to a professional who works with them day in day out. Be interesting how he afforded 800 jumps in one year though! That would be £16,000 GBP just on jump tickets!!

lol, this is why I never ask skydivers serious questions anymore
  7. Yes you're right. Your country has got itself in a hole it can't get out of now. Thankfully your thought isn't true over here as we are not in that unfortunate position.
  8. I can understand that but the rest can wait in my opinion, until, if you pardon the expression, the dust has settled.
  9. I fucking hate the media... so quick to get to these things like vultures. Does it really matter that people see whats going on as its happening or shortly after or could it wait a few days when the facts are known... really!?
  10. You could have an inheritence tax so in the event of someones death the savings are taxed prior to being part of the estate. Sounds good to me though if they did it in the UK. I'd save all my money up, then go to Spain every fortnight to jump out there. All my money would be going abroad I hate looking at my wageslip and seeing my deductions
  11. Forgive my ignorance but is that like VAT?
  12. I understand that I just wondered what a truer reading would be. I assumed you wouldnt remain at 120 mph +- if in a track as gravity is constant. To achieve 120 mph horizontal and vertical it would have had to have doubled in strength wouldn't it? Wheres a physicist when you need one? Or better still somene with data
  13. Wouldn't a theoretical ratio of 1:1 mean you would actually achieve 60 mph horizontal and 60 mph vertical? Or am I confused
  14. Am I the only one that thinks a turbine engine starting up sounds glorious? .. and the smell.... mmmmmm, and the exhaust melting your eyes as you board. All part of the experience
  15. Lol, yeah, I got the arse one day when I was manifested on a Porter lift . Was so used to the King Air by that time. Then when I got back home it was either a Beaver, Islander or Cherokee as aircraft of choice. Thank god summer is here and the DZs have wheeled out the better aircraft for the season
  16. Ok thanks. Purely for personal enjoyment UP HIGH and when AWAY FROM TRAFFIC. I see others do it and I'd like to be able to but I guess its not easy on a large canopy.
  17. How you mean? How long it takes? I suppose it takes about 3-4 seconds
  18. Right, you may remember I was having difficulty getting my canopy to dive and spiral. Its a huuuuge 210 Silhouette loaded 1.19:1 and I can now initiate the dive pretty fast with front riser and shifting in the harness at the same time but I can still only turn about 270 degrees before I can't hold the dive loop any longer. It just gets too heavy. Any tips? I'm really enjoying learning to fly the canopy up high and in space and want to crack this! Would maybe transitioning to toggles after initiating the dive prolong the dive/spiral? Thanks
  19. It's gonna be good..... ... that is all
  20. Hi mate. I'm from Kent. Always good to see a new Brit on DZ.com
  21. I had the same problem with my Z1 open face. I mounted my Pro Dytter on the outside in the end using the mounting bracket, drilling holes for the speaker and oodles of windscreen bonding sealent to make it air tight so don't hear wind noise, only the spreaker.
