Michele... I didn't search...my birth mother found me.. I don't think I ever would have searched because: 1. I have great parents that adopted me 2. i wouldn't want to disrupt peoples lives if they didn't know about me (like possible spouses and children of birth parents) This situation is all good. We are all single (coincidence?) and at a point in our lives where this is neat. --

My birth mother, spurred by my curiosity, found my birth father. They havent talked in 35 years. He was receptive to her and told her to have me call. I just called him and he seems cool as hell. He told his son about me too, which had to be an interesting conversation. I told him "I think we owe each other a beer"...So...after I go to Seattle to visit Mom and Sis, I go to Hollywood to visit Father and half brother. He says he loves to entertain and sounds like we have a lot in common and will definetly get along. I can't believe how many people are affected by adoption. There is a co-worker that just adopted a boy. I told him this story and he started crying. So have most girls that hear the story.. I am flipped out beyond words.... I told my friend Mandy, "Im not a bastard anymore!!!" She said "I don't care how many Dads you have, you will always be a bastard" I don't know why God is blessing me so much either.....I don't feel like I deserve it. Mike

Kind of after the fact for the Blessing I got today...But, time is irrelevant to God, so thanks!

I just got a call that I have wanted for 35 years
Duckwater replied to Duckwater's topic in The Bonfire
OK...my sister called my parents and they were initally a little freaked, but on my behalf. We are ALL in agreement that this is a good thing concerning my medical history. I also think the timing is appropiate. If I was still a kid with my parents, it would have been wierd. We are all grown adults, and I for sure wanted her to know at some point before she dies what a wonderful life she gave me. I have a lot of adopted friends that are on the edge of their seat to see how this turns out. I am stoked about having a big brother! I told him today "Where the hell were you when I was gettin picked on in Jr High???!!!" He is flying to seattle on Monday too to meet me. This is a day I will never forget. Mike -- -

I told my Dad and he seemed OK.....I got a message that he wanted to send baby pics to show my birth mother when I visit and it seemed like he was upset. My sister told me she once tried to find her birth mom and my Mom freaked out. I am having my sister call them to feel out the situation. Should they be freaked out? My sister said that my Mom for sure is.....I don't recall ever having a discussion about finding my birth mother... This might be a big can of worms too,...... Mike -

I just talked to my older brother for an hour. He lives 10 minutes away from where I lived in California for 5 years. We have soo much in common concerning beliefs and stuff......He lives near Perris so next time I go skydiving, we are going to party in the bombshelter....He said that this has been bugging her for years and that he has never seen her so happy that I didn't reject her. This is a 100% great thing for everybody. Mike -- -

I don't know what i am feeling.....It was funny...we talked for like an hour...then we both said at the same time "Listen, i really want to talk to you but there are about 10 people I want to tell right now.... I guess Im confused at how I feel genuine love for someone I don't even know.... I have a sister that was adopted too and her line has been busy for an hour.....I don't know how she will react to the news....She might be jealous that her birth mom hasn't contacted her......Im nervous to tell her. I was adopted at birth 35 years ago tomorrow. I never knew my birth mother. I have always been mildly curious as to who she was. I just got a call an hour ago that woke me up. A lady goes "is this Michael Skaggs?" "Is your Dad a pilot and is tomorrow your birthday"....I say yes and she starts crying. We talk for an hour and I tell her that I love her for what she did and that I had the best life of anyone I know. I HAVE A BROTHER AND A SISTER!! We talk about medical stuff as I have had cancer 3 times. She tells me my grandfather and uncle died of heart attacks in their early 50's. I am thin and my cholesterol is over 200 so I am going to the doctor TODAY for Lipitor or something. My birth mother lives in Seatlle and I am flying out there to meet her and my sister next monday...this is Oprah shit! I called my Mom and Dad and told them. I told them that them adopting me was the luckiest day of my life and they will always be my REAL parents. I havent cried in years until today. Mike -- -
Did anyone else see that UGLY Oldsmobile concept car that went for 3 MILLION???? The bidder that won it was quite a character too...I thoiught he was going to punch the guy bidding against him. He was acting like a character from Goodfellas the whole time then he cried like a baby when he won it....... If I ever win the lotto, I am going there......I LOVED the Rolls Royce Hot Rod. Mike --

I work for a railroad and I can say that running ML with a Cab Car might have contributed to this derailment. The lack of mass on the head end of the train might make it derail easier under certain circumstances. However, the real issue is crossings at grade, which are always a problem for all trains. My guess is that the FRA will ban passenger trains running with cab cars over crossings at grade. Economical or not. This would mean that the locomotive cost would double. There is no way to wye all these trains hundreds of times daily. Unfortunately, the general public loves to run around gates, run into the sides of parked trains and to commit suicide by train. I wish these a-holes that commit suicide would think about the Conductor that has to see his hundreds of body parts splashed all over. And, the fact that they could kill the crew and passengers while in the process is now obvious. You need to look at the overall safety provided by the railroads. All of those thousands of riders on ML daily are not driving thousands of cars, probably preventing countless accidents. When you see all those intermodal containers and trailers go by, there are thousands of trucks not on the road..... --

You are asleep in bed and you hear a window break and someone climbing through. You are going to confront, offer fisticuffs, then when Joe Robber pulls out his 357, say "excuse me one second while I go get my skeet rifle?" There will be no discussion, fisticuffs or life left in an intruder in my house.

Harry obviously has trouble concentrating. If he would concentrate on what is politically correct, he would not have these issues. He needs to learn to concentrate, and it will take some time. I think the Royal Family needs to host a Concentration Camp. -
