Meh.. I'm sure the accent doesn't help, but not all those rejections were in the UK - some of them were from back home as well!!! *sigh*.. That's life, isn't it? I'm living-breathing proof that being hot is just not enough! 6. We actually had a client complain last year that his planner didn't write a note in his card. If each planner had to do that, they wouldn't have time to manage the client's funds. I'm not impressed with a company card that is addressed with a mailing label. But we get many compliments on the cards that we send. I think the reason is the personal relationship that the client's have with our company. I dunno.. I get lots of corporate cards and it makes me think I'm just a name on a long list.. Some poor sucker has to spend all his/her time stuffing the envelopes and has no clue who I am.. I can see how you might justify 20 or so personalised cards for your best/closest clients, but 612?? Yeah.. I'm not really convinced. Don't get me wrong - I totally applaud your dedication/planning.. I'm just not sure the person receiving the card really appreciates it. I don't, and I've had to sign/stuff hundreds of cards.. I just think it's unfortunate that for many corporations it's just another way to pretend to care.. WHEW - that sounds cynical!! I need to change industries soon before I get *really* jaded!! I usually get lines like this: But mate.. You're half-way across the world.. I have to assume that your attempts to mount me are not exactly serious!! Where shall I begin??! First, nothing you have said has ever offended me - I just happen to disagree with a lot of what you say!!! In all seriousness, if I thought you were a total dickhead, I wouldn't bother responding to any of your posts.. (Ha ha!! My spell-check doesn't recognise "dickhead"!!) Um.. Yes.. Rejection.. Well, I've been rejected a number of ways.. I've had: ONLINE -no response (which from someone who is regularly/actively on the site I believe counts as a rejection) -"not interested" response (ie: I don't think you're really my type kind of message..) IN PERSON -a variety of responses including laughter, -a plain "no thanks" -several "you're kidding, right?" -"listen.. I think you're cute, but you're not my type" -"you're too much of a perfectionist" -"I'm busy.." I've been rejected loads of times over my lifetime! I mean, I haven't gone up to "random strangers" exactly.. Which in a way is kind of worse! Oh well.. Maybe I come on too strong.. Do you think it was the whip or the nipple clamps that scared them away?? Edit: Oh yeah, and I forgot.. I got rejected in April/May by this guy I hooked up with (the first and last sex I had in 2009) on the basis that I was a "slut"!!! 11. Goodness! How long did that take you? I've got it down to a science. I update the list in October, I order the cards by November 1, and when they arrive, I divide the list up into 'X' number of pages per workday until December 10. That way I'm only addressing between 20-30 cards a day. I've often wondered whether corporate cards achieve anything?? Personally, unless there is some kind of hand-written message in mine, they go straight into the bin.. And really.. Even with JENNR8R's impressive organisational skills, I struggle to see how anyone would have time to personalise 612 cards.. Look.. To some degree they are anatomically similar.. But my "head" has like a bezillion more nerve-endings, so they are NOT created equal!!! 13. I would ask a lawyer.. I know they're *saying* cashing the check doesn't remove their liability.. But is that true, or are they trying to sucker you into accepting something which will end-up doing just the opposite?? Ie: if you accept the check, does that mean that legally you have no more recourse after that? Check the law dude - don't just take their word for it. Unless of course you don't want any more hassle & are happy with the amount. Your posts do indeed make sense. It would be much more efficient if the girl made the first move. We're guys, we're easy...none of us would turn down a girl making the first move. 16. On this point, couldn't agree more.. I consider myself very lucky to have grown up in a family where fresh, healthy meals were prepared for us every day.. We always had plenty of fruit & veg and junk food never, never, *never* entered our house. If we wanted a snack, we'd grab carrots or cucumber or an apple or some grapes.. I still prepare a healthy meal for myself every evening even though it would be pretty easy for me to grab take-away.. I just *like* real food. And I like the process of preparing supper.. It makes me appreciate the food so much more when it's ready

Um.. Hello?? I've been actively seeking men out for the last few months and have so far had a pretty terrible time. And you're *wrong* in saying that guys will just say yes to a girl.. I've taken the initiative countless times on Match.com, and many of my messages haven't gotten any response at all.. And it's not like I'm ugly!! Chicken?? I don't fucking think so!!! Edit to say: And I will have you know that I have been rejected *plenty* of times in real life as well "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
  22. Awww.. I think e-cards are sad.. They lack that "personal touch" that makes snail-mail so special.. I have to say.. For years and years I took great pleasure in sending out cards and writing a personal message/update about what I've been up to & what makes each person on my list dear to me... This year, however, after several years of receiving next to nothing from everyone else, I'm giving up. Being overseas, it costs me about $5 per card when you consider the cost of the card + postage. I don't buy bulk - I don't feel it's very personal. At that price, when the dozen or so people on your list don't even acknowledge receipt, well, they can bugger off!!! I will send 3 cards this year, and that's it. "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

50% of the population is female, the other half is guys. I don't see how single chicks have it easier than single guys or how women can "magically" find a guy any more than a man can't just run out and find a girl if he really just puts effort into it. A lot of good points here MarkM.. Shah - your premise that women just need to walk up to any random guy still works on the basis that we are after "looks" and are just looking to "hook up". I think there is a *reason* why if you ask 100 women what they want in a man that like 90% of them will say personality/sense of humour.. Could it be that it's the truth??!! I don't think it's any big secret that men are generally attracted to beautiful women, and women generally like guys with charisma.. I know this is a generalisation, but all I'm trying to illustrate is that character, like beauty, is a rare trait. So it's difficult for either sex to be able to claim that they have a harder time than the other when it comes to finding a good partner - it's a bit like comparing apples and oranges.. You could easily come up with tons of counter-argument to say that *women* have a harder time than men, but it would be difficult to actually prove that either gender has it better/worse.. The fact is that it *must* be difficult for both genders, because there are plenty of people from BOTH sexes who are single and not happy about it.. Shah.. You may be honest, but you don't speak the truth.. You only talk about things the way you see them. There is a BIG difference. You keep saying the same things and you keep getting indignant feedback.. Your response to that is that we women don't like to hear the truth but the reality is that we keep getting annoyed with you because your version of "the truth" is biased, small-minded and incorrect. You take a very narrow/extreme definition of what men/women are like and strip out all the complexities of what makes us the way we are. You ignore 90% of our characteristics and choose to focus on a few things. The truth is that very few people fit your definition of what women are like. For me, one of the clearest indications that you don't know what you're talking about is your persistent insistence that single women have it easier than single men.. This is only true in relation to how easy it is to have casual sex, but I think you'll find that that is NOT typically what single women are looking for. Women have a VERY hard time finding what they want. If you want to believe that men and women boil down to just a few basic things, you are welcome to your opinion.. But it is and opinion, and not the truth. "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
