I'm not sure about actual volume, but from what I've been told their pack volume is similar or slightly smaller than PD reserves of the same size.

You just need some Thioridazine ! Side Effects:

I would love to know the answer to this. Judging by his avatar, I would say it’s a little of both. Right now, you are more at risk of myocardial infarction than a botched landing on a tiny 280. This thread should be a wake up call. Maybe the $3000 would be better spent on a gastric bypass? Ever think about saving your skydiving money to get the operation to correct that rectal-cranial inversion?

Not really. It's just a good movie. Good story, lotsa funny stuff, no violence/language or anything.

I'd recommend the Silhouette as well. I'd been flying a Nav 240 for a while, and got a Silhouette 230 demo from PD last weekend. I didn't really like it at first because it seemed less responsive than the slightly larger Navigator, but after a few jumps I was very happy with it. The control lines seemed to have quite a bit of slack in them, so that may have been why it seemed less responsive. I loved the openings on it, even with my sloppy packing. It flies pretty flat, and just seemed very easy to fly and land overall. The only thing I really didn't like about it was that riser turns were difficult and toggle pressure seemed kind of high. I've sent PD a request for a demo Sabre2 230, so depending on how it flies, I may end up getting a Silhouette myself.

Before trying to fly an aggressive elliptical canopy that you seem so interested in, why not learn how to spell it first?

If the guy was so drunk he couldn't pump his own gas, I would guess that he was probably too drunk to notice that he was almost out of gas, so I'm assuming that wasn't the situation.

Enjoy the nice, soft openings?

Agreed. They don't want to send her to prison because she could get hurt, but they send men to prison for the same thing expecting them to be injured or killed. It's a seriously fucked double-standard. I hope she does some serious time.

Disabled 7-Year Old Ejected From Theater

From a social (and maybe legal) standpoint, yes. From a business perspective, no. -
Disabled 7-Year Old Ejected From Theater

I agree that is hard to believe, but assuming it's true, it royally sucks and that manager had no right to force the child to leave. Well, assuming that the child was being disruptive enough to warrant the manager asking them to leave, he would have to chose who he would want to piss off more, one family, or the rest of the theater full of people trying to watch the movie. While the situation sucks, there really isn't an easy way out of it, he simply made the choice that would likely benefit the majority of people there, assuming that the kid was disrupting the movie enough to prevent the rest of the theater from enjoying it. -
Want to try Birdman, Not a lot of jumps though
justinb138 replied to skydiva1978's topic in Wing Suit Flying
You'll probably have better luck asking this in the Wingsuit forum, but I've heard at least 500+ jumps, or 200+ if working with a Bird-Man Instructor.. -
Disabled 7-Year Old Ejected From Theater
justinb138 replied to Sheenster303's topic in Speakers Corner
I guess a lot depends on what "much" means. True. I'd be interested to know the opinion of someone else in the theater at the time. I just find it hard to believe that the manager would get involved and ask someone to leave if there wasn't a very good reason. -
Body Count for this Week's Episode of "Over There" 17AUG2005
justinb138 replied to waltappel's topic in Speakers Corner
I can kind of see some humor in it, given the fact that from what people have said, it in no way represents what actually is going on, yet is advertised as being accurate. That was funny!..Especially when he shot the guy with a chicken I'm going to have to go home tonight and watch that movie. -

I understand what you're saying. I have a hard time believing that the manager would take such an action if there wasn't a serious disruption, but then again, people can be dicks sometimes. -
Do you think she could help me lose my job? It's getting to be a real pain in the ass.

I dont think it will stop them either. All they want is to kill people, they'll just find another excuse.

Have you done a demo of your current reserve
justinb138 replied to DaMan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If the process for getting a demo reserve is the same as getting a main, it's not a hassle at all. I got a main from them last week and all I had to do was fill out the form online and reply to an email. They even included the return shipping label with it. -
Just listen to what the instructors tell ya, thats what they are there for.

When did you get to go up on Sunday? Was it after the rain had passed (3pm)? I'm not saying that it's not the case, but I find that very hard to believe, especially given the instructor that was teaching the FJC on Sunday.

That's not happening here, how could anyone honestly think it would happen there?

Holy crap, that's awesome! I had no idea toilet bowl cleaner was that corrosive - I'll have to keep that in mind. That may prove to be useful information in the future.... Jeff IIRC, its "Works" brand toilet bowl cleaner, comes in a blue and white bottle, and is readily available at your local Wal-Mart. I believe it has a decent amount of hydrochloric acid in it. A few years ago I poured some of the cleaner into a plastic cup and added some aluminum foil to it just to see what it would do. Within about 10 minutes it had pretty much dissolved the aluminum foil and melted the cup from the heat.

Laundry list of screw-ups (long)
justinb138 replied to masterblaster72's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I did that 3 times in 1 day a few months ago. The first 2 times I didn't notice until freefall seemed kind of windy shortly after exit, and the 3rd time a friend closed it for me while we were hanging on the outside of the otter -

Actually, it did really happen, and the 911 tape is quite funny. Some people just need a good ass-kicking...
