Couldn't agree more. What the heck is with the whole black/white thing anyway? Last I checked, I'm a human, so are the people who live in Russia, Africa, Australia, etc. The only "race" I belong to is the human race.

I can see them chanting to Cthulu or something. Very creepy.

Gotta love eBaum Edit to add: Misc7 may not be safe for work.

That sounds like me in the air on my first aff dive.

Her toilet paper bills must be outrageous

D'oh! I'm helpless to resist the cuteness power of puppies! If only baby birds were that cute.

How many Skydivers smoke? (legal tobacco products)
SkydivingNurse replied to Praetorian's topic in The Bonfire
I have every reason in the world not to smoke; I'm a nurse, my grandpap has severe emphysema, they are expensive as hell, but I haven't been able to quit yet. I'd like about five minutes alone with that tobacco exec who said that nicotine wasn't addictive. -
I like my coffee black, but with some cream and sugar.

I think it's just basic human nature. We are explorers, we like to push limits. JFK, he nailed it when he said something to the effect of "we choose to go to the moon. we choose to do it not because it is easy but because it is hard". The technology that we have is (comparatively) way better than what we had when we sent men to the moon. Is it going to be expensive? Absolutely. Are people going to get hurt and killed in the exploration of space? Most likely, but I believe that they understand the risks. There are many things to be gained from the exploration of space, and aside from the technology that will be developed, and aside from the sheer "how cool is that?" factor, I think that ultimately, it will bring us all closer together by (hopefully) working together. Just my $0.02

Hornsby's Hard Apple Cider or Hardcore Crisp Apple Cider, both are great ciders, not too sweet, I think about 5.5% ABV, which is respectable.

If you could modify it to to beer keg air drops into a boogie, your name would live in skydiving mythology forever. Seriously though, that's one beauty of a system. (Damn, that thing has a better exit than me )

Winter (Non-Jumping) Blues
SkydivingNurse replied to jlyons's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I live in PA, so I'm outa luck unless I can get a long weekend off. In the meantime, I've been reading the hell out of the SIM, and I'm currently waiting for my copies of Fly like a pro and pack like a pro to arrive. I think I've also downloaded about 5 gigabytes worth of online movies just for kicks. Hopefully I'll be able to learn a few things during the winter, still being an AFF student, I need to learn all I can. Sure would be nice to get my knees in the breeze, though. -
WooHoo! sounds like we have a few BA.commers here. Personally, my fave is either Anderson Valley Brewing Co. Boont Amber Ale, or Great Lakes Brewing Co. Eliot Ness. Those selections may change, however, when the beers that I'm cellaring have had a few months to age. I can't wait to try that Westy 12.

Ok, since this is the gear and rigging forum, I hope this is still within the rules for this forum, but is getting off topic. I'm really curious about the flag thing. I'm not attempting to insult or question at all, believe me, flying with the flag like that is an honor. It's just that I'm a former military guy, and I know that there are rules for the flag. Again, not attempting to insult, I'm honestly curious about it. Edit to add: if you really don't land, um, can I be your student?
-
That's a sweet looking canopy, but one question, how do you keep the flag from touching the ground?
-
Do those sabre2's come in 230sq ft sizes?

Snakes are awesome. The only thing I'd suggest is doing a ton of reading up on snakes before you go out and get one. Get a feel for what you'll be taking on, and make sure there's a good vet that knows how to care for exotics. For some reason, all the vets that I talked to when I had my parrot (RIP, Blue ) were also the ones to talk to about snakes. I've had a few friends that had snakes, and they can be a cool companion.

Skydiving is one of the safest risky sports
SkydivingNurse replied to pkasdorf's topic in Safety and Training
I'm with you on this one, Ron. I have a whopping total of six jumps, I've already lost a friend, my first JM died in a BASE incident, I broke my finger on my first jump. This is a hobby with very real dangers, I've already landed in the plane once when two of my fingers started tingling at altitude. I'm an ER nurse, I've seen people get busted up really bad by slipping on a pile of wet leaves, there's no way I'm going to think that this sport is risk-free. I've read a bunch of your posts, and I've learned from them. If I ever get down your way, you got a jump ticket on me. Edit to add: didn't vote because I frankly don't know enough about this sport to make an informed decision. -
Right at this very moment I'm listening to (gasp ) Rush Limbaugh.

I got no wife, no kids, no other hobbies besides drinking kick-butt craft beers, and a job that pays me pretty well. So unless I find some really nice used gear, well...

Sir Winston Spencer Churchill, now that man was a Speaker.

Bwahahahaha Now I have to decide on which one of these to get airbrushed on my Z1. I'm liking Meat-Bomb and Toggle Whipping Yahoo, even though I haven't whipped any toggles yet (still an AFF'er) Good stuff here. Edit to add: what about Dirt Torpedo for the list? Heard it in a Megadeth song...

From my MSN profile: No takers, yet

I've got about 20 beers in my fridge with alcohol contents above 8%, a bottle of Jack, and tomorrow off, cheers!
-
Wow, I hadn't thought of that until you mentioned it. Makes the seeing it from below thing look silly and trivial. That seems a more worthy question, the last thing I'd want to do is be invisible from above and cause an incident. I'm thinking bright flourescent orange now, top AND bottom. Is orange ok, though? I mean, it's not reserved for reserve canopies only, is it?
