LOL Zen... was the company that obvious!! Nortel Notworks... I'm not worried: I'm a techie, a sales man,and I speak 3 languages.... But This corporate BS is starting to piss me off!!! Surely, DZ poliics aren;t that bad! lol

Thx Skymonkey... I know one could do worse! Not sure if I'd get a pension at 31 though!!! Remi

Well, the company I work for just anounced another 10,000 jub cuts (that will be 30,000 this year thank you very much)... so time to lower my standard of living, gat a rating, and live on a DZ.... Any suggestions? ;-) Or maybe open up a Phone Shop like that one Freaksis had in Philly!!!!

Its also a good idea to start the track slow: by that I mean dont try to get as fast as possible immediatly; as you turn away, concentrate on cupping your shoulders, then extend your legs, then bring your arms in a T position, and then gradually bring them back along your boy, as the others said, below it and pushing down. Keep your shoulders cupped, and de-arch slightly. Keep an eye around you (and below!): if you track really well, you will have people going below you and it really is up to you to keep clear (in the end, even if its them you did a poor track, your the one with visibility)

You might wanna think about getting that rig modified to BOC if you already are confortable with that location (its probably possible on that particular rig, but not knowing what it is, you may need to check with a rigger).

And 2:1 is good, right?

I dont agree on your Cypres/rsl comment FFG... A RSL is designed to open your reserve when you cut away. A Cypres is designed to open your reserve if your are in freefall at 750 feet. These actions are not the same, and if you can pull your cutaway handle, I really dont think that you should even have in the back of your mind the cypress as a backup. Both these systems are back ups to normal procedures. They are added equipment, and as such, add some safety and some complexity (and with complexity comes added chaces of things not working). Peronally, I have a Cypres but no RSL, but do not see these piece of gear as related. ANd agree with most of the posts up there, it should be your call and decission.

I had this missap that could have turned nasty a while ago now. I just wonder how commun it is? Normal jump, normal landing, but as I was leaving my rig to be packed, I noticed a line hanging around, not connected to anything. On looking closer, I found one of my mini-links completely stretched ; the normal O shape of it was more a C and the lines and riser had managed to just hand on during the canopy ride (i know, lucky). Could have been real nasty at 500 feet.... and trust me, I check those suckers VERY often now.

To become a Muff Bro or Sis, you have to do a Muff dive. AND BY THAT we meed a skydive, wearing fluffy ear-muffs, where you dock in a controled manner to certified Muff Bro or Sis. There are other requirements, surrounding the safety briefing on the proper use of the specialist equipment used (ie the ear-muffs). http://www.muffbros.com/

I am!! you need to do a muff dive to become a bro or sis... only not the type your DEPRAVED mind is thinking of ;-)

I'll have to let Karen know about the new mods to the Hinton LET then! And "depraved" skydiving boy??? Doesn't that go without saying? Still.. its easier to nap on the floor....

got 5.5 too... but kept on crashing till I upgraded Realplayer to 8... Good job Mr Video Man... which reminds me of an interesting storry... 2nd time at Quincy with about 250 jumps, and I decide its grand time to try CReW (Quincy, after all, is THE place to try new things). Walk up to the CReW area, and end up on a one-on-one coach jump with a very experienced CReW dawg (Mike) who was running the CReW area. What a rush!! did rotations, I managed about 4 or 5 (cant remember now). I was using the safer technique of turning out and away to drop altitude and dock back on. Then comes the 2nd jump.... And being Quincy, why continue with 2 ways... Mike took me and 2 others (with only a handfull of CReW jumps each) to do 4 way rotation. I was base (for those who know me, no surprise! same as in RW being a fat bastard). Mike docked 1st, then the 2 others. So its my turn to start the rotations. I turn out, and come back in (probably took me a couple of tries) but managed to dock back in. wooohooo Then its mike's turn, who does his stuff and does his rotation the normal way for him: over the stack and back behind it. It felt like it took him 1.5 seconds to do his rotation. Very kewl to see a canopy fall behing you.... Then the fun starts. The next guy in the rotation decides he's hot enough to do the same thing: over and behind. But doesn't do it correctly, and as he's rising along the lines of the lower canopy, reaches the canopy but snags his hand and toggle in a cell. As he is continuing to rise, his hand is kept low, and he end up breaking more and more..... Now at that point, the 4 way stack is supposed to fly at a slightly steeper angle then a canopy alone. But because of this, the angle of the formation is being flatten, and flattened, and then it feels like the angle is going up, and up.... and at that point, mike starts yelling: LET GO LET GO LET GO LET GO.... so we did.... Well, most of us... the 2 others got to practice wrap emergency procedures! The beer tasted good for all 4 of us that night!

Does anybody else get a plug in error on that page, then iExplorer crashing?

Who whatched Survivor in the UK last night? Did you notice that the "search and rescue" expert in the plane had a Da Kine Rags t-shirt on? Probably a skydiver from Hawaii from his attitude!! shaka man!!!

mmm making me want to get that Crosswind from P Passe... I agree, he makes excellent videos. What did other people think of Norman Kent's latest: willing to fly? Extremely good parts in it, but overall it left me felling "mmmm, gimme more jumping, less introspective-new-age-wonderings". IMO....

I'm pretty sure I've met skreamer... South African dude, right? We'll be back at Hinton on day.. still have a couple of jump tickets in the ole log book!
-
>>>REMI: PLEASE don't tell anyone about that! People think I'm a nice, sweet young thang! Moi????? Your secret identidy is safe... besides, we dont really go to Hinton any more... We've found there's more jumping to our liking to be had at Langar (multi-point double-digit-ways).. just our view of it... Remi

crazy people... jumping from a perfectly serviceable brigde... ;-) On the canopy side, never having looked up close at a BASE one, can someone either send a post a link or an explanation on the brake line release systems that I think most BASE canopies have. Thx
-
Define safe..... Considering lots of people get killed these days while under fully functioning main canopies (ie low turns under a high performance canopy), that 16 year old one is probably safer on that front...... on stability, openings, acid-mesh, rats eating holes in it: who knows!! Is a 16 year old Delta 88 safer then a 16 year old Ferrari?
-
You have to be carefull... but its a great place to experiment. Make sure you pace yourself and yes, get as many briefings from coaches/experienced/wise people at your DZ... And make sure you can track : and I mean track, not dive... Be safe and have fun... PS: on Quincy, is Carbone still at it there?
-
Didnt see it on the square one site, but Antigravity by Patrick Passe is great... its a bit old now (gotta be 4 years) but the swoop section with Rickster are great... the rest of it is very good too: 8 way French vs US when only 1 point split them , 3 way skysurf , Pilatus/Freestlye , and theres gotta be other stuff but I dont remember it all...

ooohhhh i feel a flame....... and i'm not even gay! lol
