  1. I know my side of the state is scary, especially since I think we rank like #1 in murder, rape, and I think a few others ugly things. Benny, since you live that way, dress up in drag and drive around the town. Judy I just want to go up there and have them find me someone to prove my straightness on, since I have no sisters or anything like that around to worry about! Never go to a DZ strip show.
  2. Well, I laughed, but I'd really call that more horribly disgusting and sad then funny, but I laugh at people dying and shit too, so yes, pretty funny. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  3. Dude Kev, did George really say that in your quote? Did he ever take high school civics? You'd wonder, umm, legislative makes law, judicial interprets, executive.... anyone? anyone? Bueller? Never go to a DZ strip show.
  4. Yeah Judy, like we East Tennesseers have a monopoly on dumbassism... I've been to your neck of the woods, there's some scary folk out there too. Now, I happen to live just down the road from where this happened, and I'm wondering, how do they plan to enforce this? I mean, from what I understand they want to ban gays from even travelling through... so how will it go... Officer at check point: Sir, we're gonna f@3k you in the ass, and if you don't like it, well then you're free to go or... sir, eat this here p&@sy or you can't enter our county citizen: but it's my sister... officer: that's alright, as long as you're not gay Never go to a DZ strip show.
  5. I thought for sure I had failed my L7... was supposed to be a front flip exit and turned into a front-side-front-side-back flail. But, just like you, got stable, continued the dive and passed. My JM told me to just have fun, getting stable from the unstable is the important part, not doing perfect flips or exits or shit like that, it will all come with time I hope. Sounds like you and I have one of the very same issues though, apprehension at the door... I think mine is starting to go away finally... I guess what I'm trying to say is that the more you jump the more comfortable you become, or so I've found. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  6. After the reeming people got for saying that they'd jump on pot and now this... sorry, but pain pills are worse than weed any day, warning label should read don't drive, operate heavy machinery or jump out of an airplane while on this medication. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  7. No offense to anyone else, but ASC is always sure to be the bomb-diggity. The weather's looking pretty decent I think. And I'm buying a case of beer so come have one or two. Heck, I may get my "A" and have 2 cases to buy this weekend. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  8. Yeah........I'm sure there is nothing to all those statements about "Foreign Fighters" in Iraq. Figment of everyone's imagination I'm sure. I know you know shit, so were there direct links from the deposed Iraqi regime and Al Quaeda or Ansar al Islam, or did Saddam actually not like those guys and vice versa? Remember, Saddam may have been an evil nut, but he was not a religious zealot. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  9. Does anybody know if there's going to be any way for pitiful jumpers sans (without) rig to jump at this thing. I'd like to hit a boogie but alas.... I heard something about possibly demo rigs? Never go to a DZ strip show.
  10. So, if the enemy is non-specific, then who do you work with for peace? I want peace, you want peace, but even together we don't influence any terrorist sects no matter how many letters we write, prayers we say, or candles we light. However, together, we might be able to stop a terrorist in the act. By fighting. How do you make peace with someone who believes your existence is fundamentally wrong? Terrorism has been practiced throughout the history of the world and is not some new creation. Often it has been the tool of minorities or opressed people. It was used by the American revolutionaries. It was used by the Israelis. It is used by Columbians. It's also used by Palestinians. A few years back it was used by a presumably god-fearing "good ole boy" type who had recently served in the United States military. I ask, who do you fight if you don't know who to fight. You may be right, this fight might be somewhat like current battles against cancer. You use chemotherapy, attack everything... but you walk a fine line, you might kill the body before you get all the cancer. When it's basically the entire world we're talking about here, I'm liking the odds of finding another option mainly. I've said before, I don't know the answer, and for that matter the fact that some people are gonna get pissed and try to kill some other people for political(?) advantage is probably something that we're just going to have to come to terms with and reduce as much as possible but never eliminate entirely. You can't make all the people happy all of the time but I don't the large scale invasions are exactly helping our standing, and we should remember, that group of people is breeding alot faster than we are. Soon, there will be more of them, unless we kill enough of them. Oh well, screw it, we're all dead anyway. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  11. Spain, Spain's sitting government, not necessarily one in the same. The people of Spain were vastly opposed to their participation in the Iraq war. Probably one of the reasons they lost reelection. Spaniards didn't turn pansy all of a sudden, not that I'm saying they ever were. They simply disagreed with the positions of those in power and chose accordingly at the time they were allowed to cast their ballots. Maybe if there was a huge swing from pro-war to anti-war or even vice versa following the bombings could you claim that Spain had truly been swayed by the attack. No, they went forward with their democratic process in the face of terrorism. For that they are very brave. I'd bet if there were another attack, large-scale, in the US only days before the scheduled election, marshall law would be declared and voting post-poned indefinitely, but then again, I'm a nut! 12. I wish I lived in your world. It would make my job a lot easier. I mean I wouldn't have to do all of this investigation and evidence crap. The arrests are the most fun anyway. Usually when there is evidence they arrest and charge, maybe even call a grand jury, who might decide if there's enough evidence to charge. And the person arrested has a right to call some dude called a lawyer and maybe present some evidence of his own and maybe have a trial by jury if he so pleases. And this is because every now and then you guys get it wrong. I know you'd like to think you've always got the right guy. And I'm sure to you they've all done something wrong and should probably be locked up anyway but that damn constitution keeps on making you prove that you were right. Except now, Georgie yells "ENEMY COMBATANT!" and we lock 'em up, throw away the key, no lawyer, no chat with mom, no charges, no trial, no due process, all so you can stay alive. I'll tell you what, I'd don't give a f#@k if you or I live if you take away my freedom. And yes, as far as freedom is concerned, I will kill anyone to keep it, including myself dying trying. But, I'm sure you just really care about an easy day at work. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  13. The question that comes to my mind is how do you fight terrorism and violence without actually fighting? Also, Zapatero wants to create a stronger alliance with Morocco despite the fact that three of the the five men arrested in relation to the bombing are Moroccan. I have to wonder if backing down doesn't send a message along the lines of "bully me and you can have my lunch money...oh, and can I do your homework for you, too?" Personally, after 9/11, I wanted to see the WTC re-built, bigger and more brilliant than before. Kind of a fuck you to terrorism and anyone who fights dirty like that. Some believe, as I do and as I mentioned earlier, that the way to win an unwinable war is to stop fighting, and work for peace. I admit that sometimes fighting is necessary but it can prove futile in the face of a non-specific enemy. As far as I know the new Spanish PM was against the action in Iraq prior to the bombing and his election. Why then should his carrying through with his policy perspectives signal that he had been bullied by the terrorists. After all the, first guy fought, and now he may very well have been struck by someone fighting back. I agree that the towers should be back bigger and better. But we should also still be allowed to say whatever we want to say whenever we want to say it and not worry who is looking over our shoulders or checking out what library book we've picked up. 14. umm, those fertilizers come from somewhere... typically from the shit, literally shit, produced by big agribusiness livestock farms. The only problem of it is that the pigs and cows shit more than we need to make the soybeans for all the veggie nuts grow, so it ends up going others places, like rivers in North Carolina, and then bad shit happens. The problem is not whether or not we eat meat, or not meat, but the fact that we're a bunch of lazy fat asses who eat way too much and waste too much of what we do produce. And yeah, it'd be way cooler if we killed our own food, and I actually did beat the bunny over it's head when I was a little kid! I eat meat daily, I wish the system were different, if I had the economic means to change it I would but it's hard to buy enviro-friendly shit when you're a broke ass skydiver. As well, there is the fact that you simply don't know anything about your food unless you grow, raise, catch it yourself. I mean, how many of you veggie-heads out there grow your own? How many acres of land had to be cleared to farm the fields to grow your soybeans? How many animals were displaced from their natural habitats and died as a result? Never go to a DZ strip show.
  15. Paranoia is great, isn't it? Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.
  16. I'd never done it before but I went to a safety day at my home DZ. It pretty much kicked ass, I spent most of the day working on my hop-n-pops as I had never done those before either. Then topped off the day with a nice long tracking dive where I had to fly half-brakes to make it back. The next day, I practiced the biggest lesson I had learned yet and grounded myself for the first couple of loads due to hard partying the night prior. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  17. But all this already fall under the war on terror right? I mean, since we're at war with terror and all, and have no due process (see Jose Padilla) they can lock me up just because they don't like me right? Never go to a DZ strip show.
  18. I stand corrected, thank you very much... so we're not at war at all? Never go to a DZ strip show.
  19. Umm, so you've just shot your mirror, what's the big deal... besides that crazy motherf#$ker had a gun, you better shoot his ass before he gets you... LOOK, HE'S AIMING!! QUICK!!! Never go to a DZ strip show.
  20. I'd shoot that motherf#$ker no matter who it is, all you bastards are gonna die, and quit trying to steal my rig! Ya'll be most likely to get shot, anybody else wouldn't be after any gear... not that I have any, but it's a thought. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  21. So, you're saying that there are a bunch of non-terrorists out there trained in how to not give up secrets, secrets that the terrorists happen to have made them privy to, despite the fact that they themselves are not terrorists? Hmm, seems a bit far-fetched to me. And, I understand it may be true that we release people who still may be a threat, sometimes because we can precipitate a bigger catch if we throw out a little bait or something along those lines. But, considering the stakes, is this really a gamble we want to take? Secondly, I'm getting sick of this "we're at war" shit. I think the only war (Congressionally declared as per the Constitution) that we're still in is in Korea (and they've even got some sort of cease-fire at this time I think). Anyway, the whole "war" thing is bullshit. We're at war against what? A word? A non-entity, non-nation-state, non-specific person? How do you win that war? This is the wrong way to look at this problem entirely. This is not a war, it should be a continuous effort to reduce the threat of terrorism on a global scale. The question is, are we wasting our effort through the techniques we're using. Tell me, all you gung-ho guys who love invasion, detention and interrogation, how did we stay (relatively) safe from the "terrorist" threat for the 224 years of this nation prior to 9/11? I don't know, obviously we need to try to keep ourselves as safe as possible, however we cannot allow a general degradation of the principles which this nation was founded on in order to attempt "security". Hell, we're skydivers, we all know that you can die doing just about anything, we choose to put our lives at greater than normal risk for a few minutes of fun with our friends. The point is, I guess, we're all gonna die sometime and alot less of us would die at the hands of someone else if we'd try to increase our own and the happiness of others during the time we've got than trying to tear down. As far as what I've done against terrorism... Well, I've never picked up a gun against a terrorist if that's what you mean, then again, I wouldn't know a terrorist if I saw one honestly, would you? What would he look like, brown skin and a turbin, or a clean cut white ex-military boy in Oklahoma, or a math professor named Ted. How to win a war you cannot win, stop fighting. 22. What if the child was starving? Judy He'd eat the banana, wait, get hungry again, try to kill the bunny, get bitten by the bunny, pick up a stick and beat the bunny over it's cute little ears until it stopped shreaking and then the kid would get fur stuck in his teeth. MMM, fur. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  23. 0:8:1 Yep, the luck still runs dry in one category but I got 8 jumps in including a big ole tracking dive (18 way) at Sunset Saturday, 6 hop n pops and a two way with the SunMan on Sunday which ended in my first off landing, hence the beer. Chilled with a couple of DZ.commers... hope that nose heals quick Lee.
  24. Note: Following post by unlicensed newbie, take advice at your own risk. Given that, just thought I'd chime in here with a little on my experience. Alot of people will tell you that it's bad to spread out your AFF training and that you're doomed to repeat levels if you do. This is not necessarily true, I worked through AFF paycheck to paycheck, it took me just over 2 months total to graduate, no repeated levels, only on one occasion did I do multiple jumps (two) in one day. The only reason I wish I could have done it all at once is the fact that my nerves seem to settle with each consecutive jump in a day. But, if I had waited till I had all the money at once I may not be through it yet and I may have never done it (I suffer from money burning pockets syndrome). The plus is, the sooner you get it over with, the sooner the jumps which you'll soon be addicted to become cheaper. I don't know if this helps or not, just wanted to chime in and say if you want to jump, do it however you can, don't worry if you can't do it all at once even though that may be "ideal" Never go to a DZ strip show.
  25. I voted I'd go anyway but it's set to be about 70 degrees and sunny so it doesn't really matter. Jumpedy-jump jump! It's my first safety day too so I think I really would go even if the weather was gonna be bad, the good weather is just gravy. Never go to a DZ strip show.
