  1. Fucking A... Lemme know when someone walks on the fucking SUN !!!!!!!!!
  2. A woman races into her home all excited.... She enters and yells out.... "Pack the bags,,, I 've won the lottery.." !!! A mans voice, replies,, "great,, should I pack for the mountains, or pack for the beaches"???.. She replies,,, "I don't care,,, Just get the hell Out !!!! "...
  3. Nope. The groin is the area where the torso meets the legs. Not specific to either sex. roger that... ( I was just being a wise guy )
  4. ...How interesting that this link is from FOX news....
  5. Whoa.... Chill out Brother... sounds like somebody needs to make a skydive !!!
  6. " nice going Dick" !!!!! hahahah.. hey Maybe we should send Cheney to Afghanistan/Pakistan to "quail hunt "..... They could invite all the local celebrities, like hmmm lets say,,, Osama Bin Laden and his Honchos.... ( I keep seeing pics of O B L with this nasty looking automatic rifle.. Maybe HE can shoot Cheney!!!!... ) Rock on "Dead Eye Dick".......... sheesh he couldn't even properly do THIS... he never even Killed, the Guy... Hey does Halliburton have a "field dressing" division...? Bring 'em in !! pay 'em 50 million..... ( I hope that US surveilance isn't tracking MY posts, or I may have a knock on my door tonight...) If i never make another post again,,, and NEVER show up at Safety Day ... you'll know THEY have me..... and so good bye, it's been great.
  7. roger that.... thanks... well just goes to show you,,, nobody seems to listen to the state dept.. like they should... not journalists, not tv people not even our own current administration.....
  8. yes, I am doing all those things... saving every single penny to be able to afford all the jumping I wanna be doing this summer... so do I still qualify? with just 2 jumps? it's a weird situation when one has very few jumps but is quite obsessed with the sport, because one feels like being called a skydiver because one feels a lot different than all the 100% whuffos around, although compared to the "real" skydivers one still is a bit of a whuffo... Yes... you absolutely qualify!!!!!.. IF when you are not jumping, you are still trying to learn...Either by reading when away from the dropzone, or paying attention and watching,, when you ARE at the dz, or by frequenting this fine forum, or by watching instructional type videos... That would be what separates YOU and others like you.. from the folks who make one tandem jump and never make the follow up effort to continue..They "have skydived" but aren't really skydivers.... ya' know??? You're perfectly accurate to note the "difference" that it can make in your life.. As for saving pennies,, be sure not to shortchange other areas in your life.. skydiving is after all a HOBBY..... if comes down to $$$$ just work harder, make more and spend it guiltlessly on jumping
  9. It's GREAT... if you have one like MY sister.. we were 4 boys and then a girl, all born within a 6 year span...... This was in the '50's Before TVs came to be in bedrooms Anyway... when Joanne was born... the whole family was thrilled..... Here (almost 50 years later) she is still a sweetheart. We boys were NEVER allowed to overly tease her or otherwise make her life difficult like some have noted....( our folks always taught us respect for others, but especially respect for girls/women ) ... Even today. she knows that she has FOUR "big Brothers" if she needs anything...( Came in handy a few years ago, when she finally divorced the s.o.b. whom she tolerated for over 20 years....) He was in denial, hassled her after seperation, wouldn't go away, and needed some encouragement from 4 rather 'fed-up' brothers in law... bing bang boom.... no more problems.... ( Italian Brothers !!!) "have Attitude, will travel" signed big brother jim
  10. I have heard that real pungent bars of soap tied here and there in your shrubs,,,,,can keep them away... or else maybe get a dog. Check the local Home and Garden places,, they may have certain repellants, which are safe for your plants and your family... If nothing else, ask your neighbor to stop feeding them... As "helpful" as they think they are.. in fact it's not a good idea and some municipalities have ordinances against it.... signed,,, someone who has lost most of the plantings I have done in the yard, to hungry deer.. (I won't feed them intentionally, but if they are hungry, then God Bless 'em,,, they are welcome to browse on my property...) if you can't beat 'em, join 'em...
  11. .....well... depending on what you're renting it out FOR... that could be a win/win situation
  12. "Once you have gone to your bank,,, and have withdrawn ALL the money that is in it.......... in order to pay for gear or for your training,, or your USPA / FAI membership/lic. then.... you qualify as a skydiver"
  13. this is further evidence of the craziness that has become common in certain parts of the world... yes sad sad sad for those 'westerners' who have become kidnap victims.... journalists, media folks, 'missionaries' , people with an overwhelming urge to " go to the other side of the planet" to help in some real or percieved "social problem".... Well while i will respect their intentions and devotion to some personal "cause"... I do question the sense behind going there at all.... It is not a game,, or a TV show, which is happening in that part of the world... It is Life and Death... and fanaticism and destruction.... The momentum has reached the point of "avalanche" status... and NO well meaning foreigner will accomplish much more that increase the number of "targets" for the captors.... Some time ago when the vicious beheading of an unfortunate captor was released,,, that should have sent the message of the lunacy of the situation.... ( It WAS on video, so it WAS real ) .. Our state department and the state departments of many , much more 'civilized ' countires,, should be issuing urgent orders that their respective citizens stay far far away from entering these countires. If an individual feels religoiusly, or morally, or ethically bound to affect some changes over there,,,, then they must find some other means of accomplishing it... ...Those radical kidnappers express their distain for outsiders, with such cruel and murderous behavior, and yet people STILL go there, to either > "Help", or to "evoke change", or to simply "get the story",,,,,, then they must realize that they are "out there on their own".... Most countries have made it clear that one persons life or the threat against it, will not compare to the geo-political complications which are all wrapped up in war, prisoners, the release of same, or the willingness to "give in to demands"... "if you see quicksand,, don't step into it," " if you start to sink in it, get out fast" "if you don't get out, and are up to your neck in it, it is hard to expect those who warned you to stay away,,, to run to your rescue, and haul you out" I M H O ........ jmy
  14. I am NOT ashamed of what i said.... are you Kidding me????? trying to do a bad idea safely does not make it a good idea... some things don't need to be done..... the guy shows a profile which doesn't let us know whether he has 90 jumps or 900... he talks about a buddy who 'owns a plane' and he wants to jump out of it.... i ask in an earlier post,, has the pilot EVER dropped jumpers?... No answer. I ask Has the pilot EVER flown with the door off or open? no answer... I sound negative,, cause i do not explain myself.. yet the original poster does not explain himself... OFFSITE jumps are not always a good idea.... Add in the inexperience factor of the pilot and maybe even of this jumper....the poor terrain on which the landing is planned,, the need to push open the door of the plane to safely exit.... My instincts tell me there are tooooo many IFS here... for what????? to land on some lot out in the middle of nowhere???? Dropzones are where we should skydive, unless a legitimate demo has been planned and then many many details need to be addressed, including the use of Pro Rated jumpers....Is this person pro rated??? Sorry that you feel like I am jumping down this guys' throat..... don't shoot the messenger cause you don't like the message.... I will not encourage any jump out of a nonjump aircraft, with a non jump pilot, by someone whose experience level is uncertain....or at least unsubstantiated by profile info.... and boostedXT,,,, as for a "fake" d # .. why would you even do that??? you either have the lic. or you don't.... you either have the experience or you don't... where I come from there is no place for "fake" or for "deceit" I just tell it like it is... sorry if I irritated you... that is not a reason to call me a nasty name..... If you feel like it is the right thing to do,Go make your jump....I just thought that "barnstorming" went out of favor years ago.... good luck.. jmy
  15. 4) It is this mentality that will make me leaving the place as a forum and this sport as a whole. People come here and ask for advice on things. I am not a know it all, I love to learn...the BIGGEST problem with this sport is true know it all dickwads that dont want to share their knowledge to help out a fellow jumper.....sound like someone you know? Your posts are not gloomy...they are poking holes. They poke holes instead of offering up solutions. Solutions to problems are what keeps people alive, poking holes does nothing but hold your knowledge to yourself and keep others in the dark from evolving. Joe 1. hmmmm. well first of all I do NOT "know it all" I might know more than you do... but i don't know it all...... 2. please retract that rude name,,, you called me...as it is inaccurate....And I have been sharing my knowledge in this sport for a time which is likely longer than you have been on this planet... 3. poking holes in bad ideas might be a GOOD thing... 4. as for 'evolving'..... lemme know , if you ever get there...cause 'natural selection' is out there waiting and ready to pounce on those 'less than fit' ...... happens all the time..... year after year. peace................................... j
  16. No problem sonny,, I'm happy to be a voice of common sense... What some people define as "negative" others define as "warning lights". First of all I'm responding to your original post which mentions nothing about a NOTAM ( that's brought up by others) hence i called it bandit. as to your points, above.... 1.Oh so you've been in the sport MORE than a year.. My mistake...That certainly qualifies you as an Expert... And while profiles may not mean shit to you, your profile ( Of course I realize 19.000 jumps is a JOKE... a BAD one, AND an insult to anyone who HAS made 19,000 jumps) dilutes whatever credibility you think you may have. 2. you haven't seen the plane... but now we know the door swings OUT not Up... Ever try to push open a cessna door and then safely HOLD it open so you can pass through it?? ,,, without snagging something,,,, or having it smash against you as you leave???? I bet Not... Well I HAVE safely pushed a door like that open, outta a c172 3 times and out of a triPacer twice...and safely completed each exit,, wasn't easy and i had a very experienced jump pilot working WITH me... So......better be careful....... 3. your orignal post never mentioned ANYthing about filing ANYthing.. hence my position. 4. "teach me please".... Not on your life buster.... I'm not willing to teach you a thing... you sound like you know it all already...good luck. don't jam an ankle trying to "run it out" in this "mowed cornfield..".. If it were me,, i'd file the NOTAM for the field,, but then land it on the back lawn,, right next to the picnic table... where i'd arrange ahead of time to have a cold one waiting for me.....But YOU go ahead and land out in the lower 40...... like I said earlier... have at it.... jmy from NY ps. I will apologize for the gloomy tone of my post(s) but I have seen far too many "go go go" type skydivers, ( you Know who you are ) get themselves into "demo" situations or "alternate site " fun jumps which turn out different than what they planned....sometimes with less than perfect results...... I guess I'm jaded..,, but what the hell do I know????...... j
  17. I see from your profile that you have been skydiving for ONE year and have 19 thousand something jumps.. you don't know if the door of this plane swings Up or Out.. you wanna make a bandit jump intentionally into some cornfield... and pry never even heard of a notam.... So Sure ! have at it !!.... Statistically speaking somebody else has to pull all the bonehead moves,, in order for the rest of us to be safe... Has this pilot ever flown with an open door? or put out jumpers???. Does he understand, spotting ? , upwind ? , downwind ? sideslip??....WDI??? Do you???? keep us posted... jmy o[:-)
  18. It's a good camera...and has a remote port which takes the Model Nikon MC-DC1 cable remote. It has a pendant about the size of a cypress 'start up' switch. 3 feet of wire and a plug which inserts into the camera body into a designated port.. As newshooter said... we were able to splice a conceptus tongue switch in place of the factory pendant... I made maybe 2 dozen jumps with it during the later part of last fall...It will fire many many shots in succession and if you pause for a few seconds,, it's ready right away for another burst... I have not used it with a flash attachment yet... That may slow it down a bit.... I live where cold weather limits my wintertime jumping so it'll be late springtime before I jump with it again... The camera is sizable, but not real heavy. It weighs 1 lb. 5 oz. without battery... The battery is Li- Ion Nikon Model EN-EL3a, very comparable in size to the sony batteries which power the TRV line of camcorders..( the 120 min. ones ) I use it with a 1 Gig 80x compact flash by Lexar . The card can handle hundreds and hundreds of shots. I have mine top mounted, side by side with a Sony trv -27 camcorder. It is very very balanced on the top of the helmet. Front mounted, could be a challenge, as there would be a lot of camera body and lens hanging off your forehead. I use a manfrotto quick release to mount it to a bonehead BatRak..and further secure both cameras with a web strap with plastic quick connector.. My kit came with an 18- 70 lens, which seems to work very well for me. It's a complex camera but the owners manual is fairly easy to follow...Seems like my package price, body, lens, charger battery, usb cable, 1pin video to video rca jack, for patching right into a tv or monitor, software CDs,,,,,carrying strap ran around 1,100 $ US... maybe it can be bought for less now.. Good Luck...
  19. ...accepted. Yet I still contend that we don't belong there.... You say SH was in cahoots with terrorists and time will tell... That may be .. in fact it's Likely, ( The enemy of MY enemy, is my friend...).. Scoundrels will tend to associate with scoundrels... But these are cowardly. fanatical people... They are brainwashed, paranoid, spiteful, and have NOTHING else in their lives.. Look at SH here during his trial... He's a nut... He's certifiable.. WE did not need to take over the whole country, in order to take out this one man... and thennnnnnn we never even DID "Take him out"..... Instead we "arrested" him paraded him around like some 'spoil of war' imprisoned him,, and now he gets a trial on the worldwide stage... unbelievable. Yes .. if it's verified he is involved w/ the terrorists, then send our finest "special forces" to do a swift in.. swift out.... and simply leave his assasssinated body on site,,, Done.. If it's not verified,, then leave him alone. There is no good to be gained,,, by Occupying the whole country.. Our own govt. fed us the line.. "we'll be viewed as liberators"...Well maybe by the few who the "spin department " polled, but our serious negligence in understanding complex social cultural religious and geographical aspects of populations who have been living on that part of the planet for Thousands !!!! of years, now has us in a quagmire. Somebody must think were NOT liberators,,, if our troops are still constanly under attack... If you think we DO belong there,, would YOU be willing to go yourself???? Would all the politicians, business bigwigs, weapons advocates, militant types??? all who support this war???be willing to go.. Or to have their children go?? Well then sign up.... last i heard enlistments are down..... Be sure that you don't misinterpret my distain for the war, to be a lack of support for all those who are duty bound to be there... Poor bastards, most of them, ( though none of them probably see themselves as such ) and i do support them and wish for their safety....But USA fellow citizens, subject to death and dismemberment, over the failed beaurocratic polices of the last 3 or 4 administrations, is not the way to govern, and certainly not the way to achieve world harmony....If we can't accomplish harmony by running all over the planet and sticking our nose in everyone else's business,, maybe it's time to try another approach.. One by which we withdraw to within our own borders, suggest that every else stay the hell out.. Play defense regarding the whole rest of the world, and start to tend to some important domestic issues which have for a looooong time, been neglected, much to the detriment of our society in general. jmy
  20. To my way of thinking, your way of thinking is really fucked up........... ????? sorry for expressing my opinion would you care to elaborate , as to why you think my way of thinking is f%@*ed up???? jt
  21. To MY way of thinking NOBODY from the USA should be getting injured, blown up or killed in that part of the world..WHY???? because we DON'T BELONG THERE!!!!!!!!!!. Sad as all this news is....... why does the Media think that we need to to have "instantaneous reporting" of this war action... I never understood the reason for Journalists being ON the field of battle....Give me a break..... Are these guys so ambitious and unwilling to say no to such an assignment, that they willingly accept them and off they go to some hostile, desolate, dangerous place..... Why isn't that little "danger light " going off in their heads????...What about their families?? what about their Kids??? Man,,,,, people step into quicksand,,,KNOWING that it is quicksand. No wonder calamity often follows... I DO have sympathy for them and for their families, but I also feel that they are not blameless in these matters....Not sure what's better....spending the rest of their lives with serious brain damage , or being killed outright...... such sadness such Unnecessary waste...... and NOW tonight our jackass president will glorify this event, deify the injured, use it as incentive to "stay the course" and at the same time continue telling us.... "Al Queda is about to Knock on YOUR front door " Fear Monger!!!!! Al Queda might very well be about to knock on the White House Front Door, however,,,, and so I see why G W B 's knees are knocking.. But in ALL truth.... He and his administration have brought that upon themselves,, ya' know ?? ( and as such, has put hundreds of thousands of lawabiding citizens in this country,, in jeopardy...) He tries to convince Us that the taking down of the W T C on 9-11-01,,,,, "just simply came about"... and THAT was the first volley in the whole mess..... Fact is, we were attacked as a RESPONSE to our Govt.s' poor tactics. poor intelligence gathering abilities, and intrusive behavior in the middle East vis a vis OIL... for the last 30 or 40 years.....It thoroughly disgusts me... "don't look at me,,,, I never voted for him" war doesn't work....to create peace, you must work peacefully.... .....jmy
  22. being altitude aware is always good... Though constant checking of your altimeter can be distracting.... It's one thing if you are on a solo, even a high altitude solo, but another thing if there are others in the air with you... There was a concept which was 'born' decades ago and reffered to as "expanded awareness"... To me it means , do what you need to do in freefall and under canopy, but always leave some of your brainpower AND eyesight available to stay tuned into what is going on around you..... Zeroing in on your slot , from exit to docking on an 8 way,,,, may seem like a good idea....But in truth you should be closing to your slot,, while still able to scan and see the entire picture....What if someone else is also heading for that slot? ( sure it's your slot, but often people get distracted or forget, or just go to someone else's slot ). can you say collision???. You need to be looking and more importantly seeing things!!!.. I've been on many a jump where 3 or 4 of the jumpers, never even see,,, people who are right next to them in the formation, or people who dock right across from them.. They are fixated on either their grip, or the ground or their altimeter... Sure you should get altitude references at certain key times of a dive.... but not to the point of locking onto your instruments... that's sorta overkill. While you're tracking you could be looking around,,, cranking your neck both right and left, looking for others, checking to see who has deployed, and of course, looking down at the ground to see exactly where you are relative to where you percieve the 'spot' to be.... Are you waaaay long?,,,, waaaaaay short? etc etc. You might have to pull higher than you expected... Never wait to be under canopy to find out "where you are".....but also never bust your pull altitude, either... If you exit at 13,500 or higher,, there is NO need to check alt. at 10 seconds out.... Your ati. checks might coincide with the progress of the dive you are doing. Check at the point that the first point is complete. If the dive calls for changes , then check each time the next point completes. If it is a 2 way drill dive....built in alti checks should be part of it... But you miss sooooo much if your eyes are busy with your altimeter, for a large percentage of the freefall. Try to get used to how long it actually takes to get from exit point to separation point. Remember if you are jumping with others,,, that all of you will be alti. conscious thus insuring that separation WILL start when it needs to... Be sure not to miss all the great visuals which are there for us during the freefall portion of a jump... Yes,,, your AFF training did emphasize altitude awareness, as it should. But now at 58 jumps your focus will begin to change, soas to concentrate on the tasks associated with whatever dive you may be enjoying, with friends. Quick alti checks are fine, and more of them the lower you get...but don't overdo it. Once you have identified that it's time to go,,,, just go!!! track and track hard . scan the sky for others, wave and wave hard, and then deploy... and.... always keep a smile on your face...
  23. Uh, over half the electricity in the US is generated by coal. Big source of the CO2 problem. Well 100 years ago ALL of our power seemed to come from coal... including household heat, transportation, (trains boats etc), and power for industry... so we have cut back.. In this part of the country we DO have electric plants which are water powered , or nuclear powered.. and not so much coal...not sure what it's like where you are... and Grendel Khan...... I never implied that the Energy Companies would be likely to change.. Like you, I realize that they are sitting,, "fat and happy", filling the demand...and would NEVER wanna change course.... But the masses, the people down at the consumption end of the line, ARE the ones who need to push for alternatives,,, for our own good... If we stay with the status quo,, we will have no one to blame but ourselves when the 'well runs dry '..... Rather we should be pushing for change on the local levels,, we should be encouraging nuclear power generation, we should be asking for cleaner, more efficient forms of power, and we should be willing to live without, the "fashionable" SUV s ....I know I can do that.. quite easily.... jmy
