I have just explained why that statement is both incorrect and incredibly stupid. A) More of the country voted for Hillary B) So you're saying. Trump was elected by mob rule? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
No, it is not the same concept. The SC ensures that the majority cannot enact laws that benefit themselves and persecute the minority, if those laws are in conflict with the constitution. The Presidential election is completely different. It's a binary outcome. In your wording, either one side gets their mob rule or the other side does. So what you are currently celebrating is the fact that the mob minority managed to rule over the majority of the country. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Why should one voluntary group association be different from any other? I'd be surprised if anyone was raised from childhood as an AAPS follower. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Because we can't have a nice weekend without Trump making a ludicrous claim

SkyDekker is a member of the Green party? Do you want to have an ideagasm? -
No, but when an individual has chosen to become a member of a fringe organisation that is founded on a radical set of core principals (let alone one that has advocated the rejection of extremely important public health strategies in favour of junk science) it would be foolish not to think that he probably agrees with those principles. And how much do you pay MoveOn in membership fees to remain on their mailing list? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
Well, from a very brief search here you have the AAPS resolving that their should be zero governmental oversight of, or laws regarding the practice of medical care of any kind whatsoever, and here we have an analysis of repeated anti-vaccine junk science articles publsihed in the AAPS journal. Dude, the argument's a goner - he's in full 'looking glass' mode. Literally anything you can name will be the left's fault. Racism? Mostly the left. War in Iraq? Did you know the left was responsible for that? Liberals being beaten up at conservative rallies? Yeah that was totally other liberals doing that. So instead of trying to have a real conversation, just see how far you can go with it. If you phrase it right I bet you could even get him to blame Trump's wall idea on the Democratic party. No, being the President brings with it responsibilities and standards of behaviour. Responsibilities that he wanted, but does not seem to have the slightest understanding of. Saying that it's his Right(!) to continue to say anything he wants about any topic in any manner on Twitter simply does not cut it now that he holds the responsibility of the office - unless you're happy for him to be an irresponsible, reckless and feckless President simply because he has an 'R' next to his name. No, it's easy to say that one is worse than the other - in terms of disrespect. Burning the departmental flag of a fire department is always going to be a specific, targeted insult to that fire department. There's no other way to interpret it. Same as burning the insignia of any particular army unit. Burning the US flag isn't a specific, targeted insult against the military unless the person burning it says it is. And so those people have no existence or personality outside of what is contained in their job descriptions? They're never willing to do anything that isn't enumerated within their contracts? Look, I can only respond to what you're saying so if you made a Maybe you made a mistake with what you wrote, but right now that's all I can respond to and it really doesn't make much sense. Why do people always assume it's an either or situation? Kneeling during the anthem takes up what, 3 minutes of his time every week, and if he wasn't kneeling he'd still just be standing there. Maybe, with all the rest of his time, he can do more positive things as well. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Really? How do you know that? I think you're making quite an unfair generalisation about office workers, to be honest. It is very rarely, if ever, going to be a soldier's job to save you when you're in imminent danger. That's not actually what they do. If they happened to be around when you were being mugged then they would probably be more likely to intervene, but mostly because they have had more relevant training in how and when to act in similar situations. If the DMV worker was competent in self defence or a martial art it'd probably be about equal. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Less than some, whole lot more than others! In the UK an enlisted soldier starts on £18k and through normal promotion (ie. not doing anything special, just not fucking up) is on £30k after about 6 years - without any danger pay or speciality bonuses. Outside of getting into a very good trade or being an excellent entrepreneur there's not much out there that will offer a school leaver with no qualifications more than £30,000 a year at the age of 24. It is one hell of an incentive. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Terrible analogy. The US flag is equally the flag of the firefighters as the soldier's, so you show as much disrespect to the firefighters by burning the US flag. On the flip side, you would show as much disrespect to soldiers as you do to firefighters by burning their department's flag... by burning their unit's insignia, not by burning the US flag. That was kinda the premise of the article. Agree with the explanation or not, but asking how he explains it when the whole point of the post is a link to the thoughts of a guy who attempts to explain it only shows that you really aren't paying attention. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

No you don't. And even if you did, soldiers don't own the flag, and when it comes to deciding what citizens of ther nation can or can't do they get the same 1 vote as everyone else. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

StreetScooby's view on acceptable behaviour: "If it's good enough for a baying mob of Pakistanis, it's good enough for me!" Do you want to have an ideagasm?

I kind of like the Louisiana approach. Burning a flag is perfectly legal. Beating the living shit out of someone who is burning a flag carries a $5 fine. That's cool, because also in Louisiana burning a flag and then shooting dead someone who you think is about to beat the living shit out of you because of it carries no penalty at all. Sure, if you can get a jury that consists of Californians. There's no need for a jury. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

"Dear journalists: Stop taking Trump literally" -- Brad Todd
jakee replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
I disagree with the presentation as well. The author spends some lines talking about journalists' indoctrination in style guides and how Trump doesn't have that experience in polishing his words, as if A) journalists are just being petty and pedantic when they criticise him and B) the problem with what Trump says is simply a lack of clarity, grammar or decorum. That is not just false, it's not even pertinent to the author's main argument. It's just a bunch of feel good "elites bad, common man good!" bullshit to get the reader onside. Another statement at the end makes no sense either - He won this year in spite of his words and he can succeed as President in spite of them, too -- so long as voters continue to take him seriously but not literally. That's crazy talk. The voters have nothing to do with it for the next 3.5 years. His policies (or lack of) wont succeed or fail based on voter's trust. Do you want to have an ideagasm? -
"Booooring" I'm not sure what's so boring about the subject. The primary job of POTUS is keeping the country safe, I'm not sure why this isn't a bigger issue, it seems indefensible. You misunderstand me. My reply is what he's probably thinking. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

OK, so what is the topic? The only question you asked in the OP was for people to agree or disagree that not all cops are bad and state why. Is that literally the only discussion you want to allow in this topic? Because... Agree, not all cops are bad. Reason: Well, obviously! Job done, end thread

can anybody explain this to a non-u.s.-citizen?
jakee replied to feuergnom's topic in Speakers Corner
And in what way do you think that supports your statement that the CPUSA endorsed Clinton? And which one of them contains a statement from the CPUSA saying they endorse Hillary Clinton? Because I already gave you one saying they didn't. Do you want to have an ideagasm? -

You know what, as soon as I read this post I thought "Huh, that doesn't pass the sniff test. Why would a political party endorse another political party's candidate? That sounds ridiculous!" So I looked (for like 10 seconds, by the way) and found this: The answer to your question is NO. In 2016 CPUSA did not have any candidates on the ballot, but nevertheless it does not issue endorsements of candidates of other parties. Sounds like your bullshit detector needs an overhaul.
