    Exactly the same as what this thread (and everyone but Trump) is promoting as the Trump inauguration crowd. There are loads of big empty spaces in that photo, you just can't see them anywhere near as well as on the Reuters image because the photo is taken from a low angle. The people at the front of each square are blocking the clear view of the empty spaces behind them. Don't fall into the Trump trap of not understanding perspective. By realising that they show the same thing. Yes, Trump, his press secretary and the rest of his team. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

    It's 90 days until an OMB plan is recommended. The hiring freeze expires when a plan is implemented. There is no deadline stated for the implementation of any plan, therefore there is no deadline for the expiry of the hiring freeze. It is indefinite. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

It's a publicity stunt pure and simple, and if it does happen to fuck over the VA or any other agencies and departments they really don't care. If there's one thing that's been categoricaly proven time and time again over the course of Trump's career it is that he doesn't give a shit about the little guy. Can I use your crystal ball sometime? So, you think when Trump signed a hiring freeze covering the entire US government he was thinking specifically of how to help change the VA? That's pure speculation. Trump's willingness to screw over the little guy just because he can is a well documented pattern of behaviour. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

    But the free market is driven by short termism. In the long term, complete automation of production, logistics and sales may destroy the market which the automatons are built to serve... but industry will do it anyway because otherwise companies will, in the short term, be outcompeted and destroyed if they don't. Since with no safety net the default outcome would then be a black wasteland, a grey one would at least be preferable to that. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

    The point of the discussion is what to do when the current system supplies less and less for the lower percentages to do... Increased automation is coming. Mass factory and industrial jobs are not coming back, in fact more and more low wage jobs are (almost certainly) going to be replaced by technology. The discussion isn't about what we should do now or next year, but in 10 years, 20 years, 30 years - what happens when more nd more and more of the jobs that support the majority of western society are no longer economically viable for humans to fulfil? Do you want to have an ideagasm?

    The most telling part of that for me was when she effectively said 'Why shouldn't we lie, you guys lied about us yesterday!' The Trump camp lovesthe siege mentality. They want an us vs them relationship with the press. And in this case, she pretty much came out and stated that carrying on a feud with the press is more important than being honest with the American people. So much for taking the power back Do you want to have an ideagasm?

    Mmmm... There is at least one other explanation floating around. I wasn't there. I haven't seen video. However, the story is that Trump brought a staff of yes men with him to chuckle and cheer at appropriate points so regardless if the CIA remained stoic, the microphones would still hear his intentions. He did it at his campaign announcement, he did it at his only press conference as Pres elect... Of course he did it at his first appearance as President. This is the man who continued to hold rallies after the election because he gets off on the applause. He knows no other way. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

    Manufacturing those things here is never going to make sense unless you pay workers far less than it is possible to live on. The only thing that is apparent is that Trumps patriotism and love for his country stops at the boundary of actually doing anything for the nation's benefit if it costs him a single cent to do so.     It's not petty, it's setting the tone for a complete subversion of the press. If he keeps lying and complaining about the press treating him poorly, eventually a lot of people are going to start believing him because it simply sinks into their brains through weight of repetition. Then, when the press reports on something serious and important that he doesn't like, he'll just claim that they're lying again and people will believe him, because that's what they've come to expect. So really, no matter if it seems petty, if he wants to flat out lie about the small stuff right now, the press need to call him out on it, and make sure that a prominent part of their overage is making it absolutely clear that the President and his office are absolutely, clear cut, intentionally lying.
