    That'll build what, maybe 200-300 miles of wall No. Even Trump's wildly over-optimistic estimate said the wall was going to cost 12Bn to build. So best case is that 4 years of foreign aid pays for 7% of the wall, or about 140 miles. And that's building only, not upkeep. And as noted, some of the aid is for Mexico to do stuff you want them to do so there will be a cost involved in dealing with the consequences of them not doing it anymore, and dealing with consequences is usually a lot more expensive than paying for prevenion. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

    Who cares? Apart from contamination of international fish stocks, mercury pollution is essentially a local problem. So if there is a mercury emissions problem in the US, cutting US mercury emissions will help, regardless of how much any other countries are poisoning their own citizens. If someone from mexico or central america has a lineage that mostly comes from spanish and european settlers stands to reason they'll be pretty much a well tanned white person. If they have more native ancestry they'll be less white. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

    A) It wasn't a huge upset. What about it was an upset? B) The current system let 'huge upsets' in 2 or 3 lowly populated states reverse the wishes of the country. C) What does it matter that California is one state? Does that make the people there more homogenous than the people of North and South Dakota? Does it make San Fransiscans indistinguishable from Los Angelinos from Newellites? If California was, today, split into 3 states of North, South and Central Cali and each of them had 22 electoral votes would you be less bothered about how much influence they had on the next election? Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Sure it's not totally unfounded, mostly when discussing the behaviour of blocks of politicians, such as the group tactics of House Dems vs House Rs but it is almost totally unfounded when discussing individual politicians.
