Trump Jr was shocked, shocked that it took 5 days for Hilary to condemn Harvey Weinstein after the stories about him emerged. I don't know whether or not I think it. On the one hand you are the country with the greatest ability to destroy global civilisation, and AFAIK the one that participates in more international conflicts than any other and projects its military might around the world more than any other. On the other hand there are less stable countries with access to far smaller, but still potentially destructive arsenals. It's tricky. What I do know is that your argument that the US isn't a global threat because the courts make it treat its own citizens fairly is a red herring. It's irrelevant to the rest of mankind. So you're saying Congress can undo anything Trump does, except the one thing he can do that would pose the biggest threat to mankind? And you think that helps your argument? Do you want to have an ideagasm?

That's an incomplete sentence. Since most countries [sic] courts tend to limit their jurisdiction to their citizens and/or unlawful conduct committed within their borders... what? How does that stop those countries being a threat to mankind as a whole? The dangerous actions of governments to their own citizens. not to everyone else's citizens. Bringing up the courts is a red herring. What court has ever stopped the US from going to war? What court is going to stop Trump if he gets into a nuclear pissing match with Kim? (Ok, he might be impeached for obstruction of justice before that happens, but that would be a coincidence.) Do you want to have an ideagasm?

An American journalist on morning radio over here speculated that if members of Trump’s team continued to meet with Russian officials to discuss the prospect of a Trump administration dropping sanctions after they were informed of Russian hacking of their opponents it could be viewed as a quid pro quo arrangement, opening up conspiracy charges of aiding and abetting cyber crimes. The vast majority of mankind lives outside the US, and the rest of government has repeatedly shown a severe allergy to checking the power of the executive to do whatever the hell it wants with military power. WaPo does not print the false allegations and uncovers the attempted sting, thus demonstrating the strength of their due diligence, and how thoroughly they investigate and confirm the stories they have printed. We sure do! Your answer is that neither standards nor good character have any relevance in a leader. The only thing that matters is if he or she has been chosen by god to help the country, and the only way to tell that is by checking if they have an R or a D by their name. Hence the committed Christian Obama with the faithful, settles family life was always going to be a scourge on the nation, and the historically godless Trump with a string of ex-wives, and trail of abuse, theft and fraud is a blessing sent from the almighty. Sure, but even then deviant can be decribed in relation to the standards we require for society, not just the things most people do. So if we require an average score of 150 on current IQ tests using current standards, will it become normal? Your original question was 'if behavior is normal, can it also be deviant?' The very question acknowledges that 'deviant' and 'not normal' aren't necessarily the same thing, and clearly my answer is that deviant is not only defined as 'not normal', and by extension 'not deviant' does not necessarily mean 'average'. We produce massively more food than we need, despite the fact that our incredibly meat heavy diets mean that our agricultural system is far less efficient than it could be if we ate more plants. I disagree. I see democrats attacking Trump because there is a larger enemy looming in the shadows, and the republicans intent on ignoring the enemy because defending Trump is more important. You can see them saying as much way back at the start of this thread. That is the only conclusion I can make - because I simply don't believe you could be so naive as to think that because you never used to hear about women being being abused by their bosses that it never used to happen. It has always happened, and back when you weren't hearing about it all the time it was, if anything, probably worse. If you think that abuse of women in the work place is an increasing problem because you're just now hearing about it, then you're living in a dreamworld. Do you want to have an ideagasm? -

Why do you think it is decadent that women are finally starting to be taken seriously and treated fairly when they complain of sexual abuse and workplace harrasment? Why will that lead to destruction? Why do you think it would be better for America if powerful men were able to keep harrassing, abusing and raping women without ever facing any consequences? Well that's the slippery slope, isn't it? It starts with these women thinking they're entitled to attack a strong, conservative christian voice in government because he gave them a bit of extra attention they should have been grateful for anyway, and where does it end? The slide could be arrested if we all stood up and reminded them that their place is in the kitchen or sat on our laps, but our wishy washy modern liberal society lacks that moral fortitude. (The alternative, that Ron thinks sexual harrasment by powerful men is a new problem, is simply too absurd to contemplate. So I'm pretty sure he meant the first thing.)
