The City of London pretty much runs on corrupt British bankers washing corrupt foreign money. And yes, the Russians have a particularly large amount of money to wash so have found a particularly welcoming home. Apparently the name Londongrad has been used in US intel / foreign policy circles for quite some time.

Your problem is that you seem to be both reading and writing an invisible “all” in these statements. But that really is entirely your problem, not ours. Keep in mind Putin has been strongly cracking down on domestic dissent since the invasion started. I think a lot of Russians could be very wary of telling a random person on the phone that they don't like the President.

What child are you talking about? The beauty queen being referenced in this thread was an adult, able to vote, join the military, get married without parental permission, be executed for capital crimes - the whole deal.

I didn’t say it was a bad thing. I just said there’s nothing wrong with pointing out when someone is pursuing an argument they know is total bullshit. For some reason Joe wants to troll Canada, that’s fine. But we both know he doesn’t believe a word of his ridiculous claims about why the US defence budget is Canada’s fault.

It’s dishonest to say that it’s a reason the US defence budget is so high. It’s not. It has nothing to do with the US defends budget. NATO has nothing to do with the US defence budget. Joe is not stupid, Joe knows this is true, Joe is being dishonest. Maybe his wife is having an affair with a Canadian, I don’t know - but for some reason he really wants to argue with them, and genuine concern over defence spending is not that reason.

Right. As I said, 0% of the budget. So it’s nothing but rank dishonesty from Joe to link wider NATO aid (or lack of it) to Ukraine with the US’s “need” to spend insane amounts of money on defence, when 100% of the US defence budget has absolutely nothing to do with Ukraine.

Because it’s real. Staggering quantities of wealth end up doing nothing because rich people are too rich to do anything more with it. I’ve given you the sources before, if. You want to keep pretending real life is a cartoon because it suits your political philosophy then go right ahead. What’s happening with the wealth from SpaceX? Blue Origin? Bezos has spent up to a billion a year on it. What about his other $180Bn? Where’s that going?

The military supplies given to Ukraine so far are mostly body armour and man portable missiles. Not cheap, but big money? We’re probably still talking about approximately 0% of the US defence budget. So what’s the justification for the other 100%?

It exists in reality because our economic system is so madly skewed towards making rich people richer that many of them simply make money so quickly it’s not even worth the effort to stay on top of investing it. Unfathomably enormous quantities of it simply disappears from circulation. Just because you are ignorant of that fact (even though I have you sources last time) doesn’t change how laughable it is that you think real life is a cartoon.

So again, it is really unbecoming of you to moan that it is someone else’s fault that you are spending more than double what you agreed to spend. It’s not their fault, it’s your fault.

Why not? Did it make any noticeable difference to his life? (Normally this would be a rhetorical question, but since you once claimed the Uber rich wouldn’t be able to afford to eat out in restaurants if they had to pay more tax, it’s now a real one.)
