Baloney. You know that’s not the case, so why not speak honestly about the subject? The vast excesses of US military spending are completely unrelated to anything except domestic US politics. Your allies don’t need you to do it, you don’t need you to do it, it serves no real world purpose whatsoever. If you want to reduce the US military budget by a huge amount then by god please do it. That would be amazing. And it would leave absolutely zero slack for anyone else to take up.

How do you figure that equates to ‘carrying the load’? The total aid going to Ukraine is a drop in the bucket of the smallest budgets in that list. You want to spend trillions on carrier battle groups you’re welcome to go right ahead but don’t pretend it has the slightest fucking thing to do with the defence of any part of the NATO alliance, let alone Ukraine.

It is a lot ridiculous that an economic system which puts such a low value on the (necessary) jobs of those 100M has developed. The average voter knows that, which is why the GOP have had to resort to gaming the system so they are able to gain a disproportionately large share of power from fewer voters.

It’s just posturing. Nato isn’t holding back from Ukraine because we’re not strong enough (it looks like Russia’s invasion force would be completely helpless against NATO forces tbh) but because Putin has played the ‘just crazy enough to maybe use nukes’ card very well. Is there any amount of defence spending that would overcome that?

Monetary bail is such a strange system. What is it but a system to ensure that presumed innocent poor people remain in jail while rich people remain free? In this case, is it important that bail is only $50k? If you were a multi multi millionaire faced with the prospect of dying in prison but with the ability and inclination to flee the country prior to trial, is there any amount of money you wouldn’t sacrifice in order to do that?
