FINAL DY GUYS BELLY OFF CONTEST CONTESTANTS!!
peregrinerose replied to ntrprnr's topic in The Bonfire
Are you going to compile a girls list too and get our pictures up there? We don't want to be left out Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda -
Isn't this unrealistic? There would be no doctor anywhere... EVERY doc is human, by nature, we screw up. We do our damnest not to, but it happens. The mistakes I've made have been little (miscopying a glasses prescription, grabbing the wrong power contact lens, etc.), certainly nothing I'd ever be sued over, but that's why I only pay $600/year in malpractice while ob/gyns, pediatricians, orthopeds pay very nearly 6 figures in malpractice insurance per year. Should you lose 'everything' if you make a mistake at your job too? Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

You guys are entirely too hard on yourselves... there hasn't been a bad looking half naked guy yet. I'm loving this contest just for the eye candy... thanks!!!! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Funny you say that... part of my goal was to get trim enough to feel comfortable doing my 500th jump naked. My huband and I will hit 500 in 3 months or so and thought about a naked 2 way. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

It sounds like the some of the guys are just as hard on themselves as we are. I haven't seen any scary pictures yet.... but the bodies that would truly be awful to see photographed probably aren't skydiving. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda -

I'm not the only gem on here... there are a lot of sky girls who donated recently. I was dissappointed that mine wasn't yet long enough when they did their mass donation. There is a LOT of skydiver hair making a difference -

I hope my 'after' pictures look as great as your before pictures... you're beautiful!!! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda -
What do you mean PROLLY win???? that should be DEFINITELY Competition definitely works well to motivate me, so this is just what I need to fire my ass into gear and lose that last bit of weight I've talked about losing all these years (lost 80, want to lose 20ish more). Everyone has different motivations, you are doing what works for you, that's all that matters!! Congrats on sticking with it since November!!! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Damn, I wish I'd thought of that before taking the picture yesterday.... Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

I am at the moment eating grapes for lunch (YUM!). My breakfast was a gigantic orange, filling yet tasty. I have worked out for an hour each of the last 3 days. I'll be freaking damned if my next picture in 3 months looks as bad as the one I posted yesterday... that's my motivation. Oh, my husband loves ice cream, I do too, but actually said 'no' to my favorite cookie dough ice cream both Mon and Tues nights because of this and had a 60 calorie smoothie instead. Go me! It needs some color work yet, but the sun has a sun/moon yin/yang and the 2 way skydivers in silouhette. I like the picture, but the shading is off, so I plan to have it touched up. I also have a sleeping dragon around my left ankle. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda -

Men are all talk... women are made of far tougher things Edited to add... it was actually the short hair that made it harder to post that pic than just my body type. I donated 10 inches a couple of weeks ago (my 5th time donating hair) and I'm still incredibly self conscious about it. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda -

I thought for a while on posting my pic (which I will do when my husband gets home to take a couple for me). But all of us that aren't skinny or 20 years old or have a fat roll spend all of our time hiding behind baggy clothes and not posting the pics, which only serves to make us feel even more alone. So, I'm going to post mine, and hope a couple of others suck it up and follow my lead. Besides, those of us with a bit of fat to actually lose will probably kick ass in the competition because in three months we'll have a more noticable difference. So someone who is at least a size 10 or greater please let me not be all alone in flaunting the flab Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda -
Belly-Offers/Sexification Participants: Thoughts On What Works
peregrinerose replied to NWFlyer's topic in The Bonfire
I lost about 8 lbs (from 225 to 145) about 3 years ago, the same way you did... working at it. I'm now at about 154, my goal is actually 125, which is reasonable as I'm only 5'3" I did exactly the same things that you recommended, here are a few more. The best magazine I've ever read is called Light n Tasty. Everything in it is low calorie, low fat, easy to make, and absolutely delicious. I have never had a bad meal out of it, and when I cook for friends, they have no idea that it is all healthy. Chew gum. Keeps your mouth busy and your brain off of actually eating if you are the compulsive snacker type like I am. I hate water. GAG. But I do drink a lot while I'm at the gym. I drink a lot of coffee. I know it's not all that great, but it keeps my stomach thinking that it's full... I have a lot of skim milk in it, and a bit of splenda, so good for me too. I love Starbucks. A large non fat sugar free cinnamon dolce latte with no whipped cream is only 160 calories and tastes delicious. Is the office going out for lunch? Order a non-cream based soup. Filling, and generally lower in calories than a burger or something. Don't weigh yourself every day, it's depressing. Pick one day a week. Have your spouse hide the scale if you are a pathologic weigher like I am. Eat off of a small plate size instead of a big dinner plate. You will eat less and your body won't even notice. Pick one day a week to relax on the food... don't gorge, but have that bowl of ice cream, or brownie, or pizza, or whatever it is that is your weakness. Work out. It doesn't have to mean going to the gym. Pack yourself instead of paying a packer (Unless the packer is me... I need the money. Keep paying me! ) Park at the far end of the parking lot whereever you are going. Walk the dog. Anything. When you eat, leave one bite of everything on your plate, it teaches you to be able to say no, to be in control of your food. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda -
If the dog is food aggressive, she really should know about it, particularly if she has kids or there are kids that may not know to leave the dog alone when it's eating. Plus if he was THAT hungry, it may reflect on how well she's taking care of the dog and make her pay more attention to it. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

I agree... I'd kill to have looked like your 'before' shots at any point in my life! Good idea on using Parachutist for this month, I might do that. I'll take my pics when I get home. Not looking forward to that, but oh well. Hopefully there won't be too many gouged out eyeballs from those who see them Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda -
Skydiving Instructors lack of benefits/insurance-Koji
peregrinerose replied to bigbearfng's topic in The Bonfire
As long as when you have 10+K in bills from a broken leg you foot the bill, I don't care if you have insurance or not. What bothers me is people who make the same choice that you do... no insurance, and then expect the docs to provide them care at no charge, or society to foot the bill... when are people going to be responsible for taking care of themselves? Douva, you keep bringing up kids.... like everything else in this discussion, kids are a financial choice that the person made. If a person chooses to have children, they must live with the consequenses, both good and bad... that includes financial ones. My disclaimer here is I do my part, I provide probably 30+ free eye exams a year for people who truly hit hard times, can't afford it, whatever. I usually buy them glasses too if they need them. This is on top of the patients that are financially strapped that I can get covered through the state or through Local Lions clubs. And the patients that pay $10/month or whatever on their bill until it is paid. I bust my ass to help people, but only those that help themselves first... the ones who clearly are in a tough bind and working hard to make things better. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
