  1. MMMM Porno! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  2. I'm an optometrist, there's an ob/gyn at our DZ, plus a nurse, a couple of EMTs. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  3. You speak as though you are a man who had this very event occur to him. ProTecs are also very quiet if you pimp them out as a pelt. www.peltheads.com I never had a problem hearing my audible without the fur on it, but it really does cut out a lot of noise that way. 4. Get the car so you can get to the job. Preferrably a job at the DZ
  5. Take a good look at forclosure homes. I bought my house 6 years ago for $82500. It was appraised at the time at $126,000. Probably would sell today for $135000. Other than being hideously ugly and unsanitary for human life when I bought it, the home inspection revealed nothing wrong but a leaking pipe (which I made the bank fix prior to purchase... it cost them $50). I did all the rehab work myself, except windows. Windows were $5000 for the whole house. I did the siding myself for $1500. Lots of paint. I replaced carpet for $1000 in 1/2 the house. The rest of the house is hardwood floors which I refinished myself by renting a sander. I've had no major repairs to do. I pay $800/month to mortgage. My rent before buying the house was $750, so this is a great deal! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  6. Isn't there a vaccine against this? Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  7. That just made me giggle a little bit It's the DZO's DZ, not yours. His rules are the only ones that matter, whether you agree with them or not. It isn't your place to lay down rules. Let him know what you think, give your feedback nicely, see what he says, and go from there. I took a lot of griping from people on the brake setting thread because at our DZ it's required that brakes be set and slider unstowed. I follow those rules as packer. If I was packing at a DZ where there were no rules about it, I'd be setting a lot more brakes and not gripe about it. Some of the DZOs rules I like, some I don't, but I love the DZ I jump at and respect the DZO's authority to run things the way he thinks is best. If he wasn't doing a lot of things right, it wouldn't be the great place to live every weekend that it is. Weigh your decision to jump/work there or not based on the same criterion... overall are you happy, feel safe, and like being there? Weigh the pros and cons. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  8. I have several friends that have been snapped hard on a Spectre. I ended up in the ER that way, one had 2 compression fractures. Doesn't make it a crappy canopy though. I knew when I bought the sabre it had a rep for hard openings, just never actually had one. For a first canopy it isn't a bad choice. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  9. My first 150 jumps were on a Sabre1, never had a problem with it. My husband's second canopy was the same Sabre1, he put about 300 more jumps on it, still no problems. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  10. I know how shitty I feel if a jumper has a hard open or line twists and what a total mess I was after the cutaway even though it wasn't my fault... I can't even imagine what I'd do in that situation. I take every pack job seriously... I check pilot chutes 3 times, brakes twice, and although I could do a quicker pack job than I do, I prefer to be damn sure I'm doing it right. I would probably have to be institutionalized if that happened. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  11. I've been a packer for 2 summers and to my knowledge have packed one malfunction. Just my luck it was one of the DZOs. I was not required to pay for the repack. She had an almost identical malfunction on the same canopy a few jumps later (different packer), the canopy has since been retired or sent to PD for inspection as the odds of it being the pack job are remote. Although I was never told about a policy of repacks, I always assumed that I would not be responsible for the repack should I pack a cutaway for the very reasons you describe. Though I admit, if I did pack something that was clearly my fault (uncocked pilot chute, for example), I would in a heartbeat volunteer to pay for the reserve repack. 12. Desperate isn't the right word at all. I was a doctor for 4 years, then got married. 6 months later I changed practices but still in the area. Many docs (or attorneys or any other profession along those lines where name makes them accessable to patients) keep whatever name they got their degree with, even with marriages (or divorces). I did change my name, but it was a PITA for patients. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  13. I do it for purely selfish motivation.. it's fun Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  14. I'd like the same PM! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  15. As a packer and rigger, I am very proactive in working with jumpers, especially students and new jumpers, in teaching them to pack, maintanance, etc. I find it scary that about 50% are eager to learn, and 50% simply don't give a damn. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  16. So how bad would it be for her to have sex in say 4 weeks instead of 6? One ob/gyn I know says that the recommendations are more for him than her, that she'll know when her body is ready to handle it, the recommendation is more to keep the guy from pushing the issue before she's ready. 17. I'm stuck on the horseshoe one. But I love number 51... love that little gator dude Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  18. I thought the fee system at Eloy was weird.... It doesn't take me any longer to pack a large canopy than a small one. The biggest thing that makes a difference is number of jumps on the canopy, not size! Tandems being the exception to that, but there's more to than than square feet of fabric increase compared to sport rigs as well. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  19. Nope, just a thread hijack And packers love people that like happy packers, by the way. Thank you! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  20. Does Strato have a nice supra-groinal region though? That would make him worth getting to know When are you going to add the third truth of skydiving to your sig line? "Kyle Grim sucks at swooping" Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  21. I just got an email with him, he's coming to Dublin with us!! Woohooo!! Are you going? You're one of the few DZ.commers I'd love to put a face to the name, from what Kyle says and your posts on here. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  22. I took the course 2 years ago, we had a friend stay with us then. Another guy, Tony Gwynn, stayed with us this year... we figured on hosting one student in the course a year, it's been a lot of fun to do that, meet new people, plus they get to come home to real food and a cozy bed for free Though if Kyle takes the course next year, he better watch out... Dave asked if I'd be interested in helping out with the course at least on the weekend when I'm not at my real job I'll make sure I bring the tape. A rigger I greatly respect told me that I'd make a good rigger because I truly care. I think Kyle would be a good rigger for the same reason, so yes, I'll be on him. Is it really fair for us to gang up on the poor boy like this? After all, he is just a kid and considers both of us ancient. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  23. You idiot, save your money for the course and borrow most of the course materials from me. I even have an extra copy of Poynter's Vol 1 you can have. Rocky gave it to me All you'd need to buy is Vol 2, the rest you can have from me. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  24. Hey, he has a pretty whore as a rigger now, and nothing has been bent! And I keep trying to get him to take Dave's course... my house is a mile from Dave's, so I even offered to let him stay here during the course. I wonder if he could make it through that many days of not having much time to talk? And Kyle, we have 2.5 packers.... your yapping only makes you count as 1/2 And Rocky has 2 rigs, so I have no problem having one of them wait when necessary. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  25. LOL! Well, at least I know nothing changed about him since he moved to PA, it wasn't something in the water that gave him verbal diarrhea. We just got back from dinner at his place. He flipped a mean burger. In the rain even.... now that's dedication to friendship. Hey Kyle, doncha just love it when people talk about you behind your back in front of your face???
