Selling good video footage to TV? Contacts?
efs4ever replied to clint's topic in Photography and Video
I sold a sub thirty second shot of a cool wipe out on our swoop pond to "You Gotta See This" and they gave me $500.00. -
Yep, that's me. Sittin on the back of the toilet. I don't need no stinkin dispenser. Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com

Which is the best DZ you ever visited?
efs4ever replied to bluesky1977's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Of course, there's no place like my favorite, Skydive Houston, which is home (listed as Waller in the link) I did a unique index from my logbook of every different place I landed a parachute and put it HERE. Some of these places were demos and such. My favorites are Moss Point, Skydive Dallas, West TN during the good old days of $99, Bishop Ranch (RIP), Eloy during the Holiday Boogie, and Gladewater, Texas. -
I carry mine in my wallet, and it's no problem to whip it out.

Ustajump (Jerry Felts) is the guy in the lower Rt looking down. Looks like he's wearing a hood. (I think) Minds fade with time.. Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com

Let's see, Mike, you have some too. Remember packing all of those Dash one Bravos? Remember putting Rick Duran out on his first jump? (The dude is a multi world record holder now) I only got to teach him the course. What about picking rounds off of poles? Or all that other stuff we did that is so politically incorrect now. BTW, Mike, I'll be in AZ next week, but probably at coolidge where my tandem friend can jump. I'd like to go to Eloy, but I haven't determined whether they will let her jump tandem with me. Attached are some more "memories" from Dallas Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com

I know everyone on the load. The photographer used an 80mm lens which pulled everything close in. Kinda like the DZ.com post that showed two big jets landing on parallel runways looking like they were doing it doggie style. BTW the jumpers had complete clearance for the photo op dive. Russell M. Camera dudes started shooting digital stills
efs4ever replied to efs4ever's topic in Photography and Video
At Skydive Houston. This weekend Sir Rodney shot a digital Rebel of me doing a tandem. In one pic I could see the plane and TWO OTHER TANDEMS that exited after me, all in drogue fall. This chit ROCKS. Of course Rodney was on his back in order to get that shot. Students get a better deal by getting this stuff on a CD rather than film. Camera guys get to keep their stills rather than give away film that rarely returns prints. Even if they are not computer geeks they can get prints from the CD as easy as film developing. -
No, I meant OLD Decatur at the Muni. We were jumping rounds on students when we were booted outa there. Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com

Uh, Dave, my alti wasn't working at that moment due to them screwing with the air pressure in the plane. Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com

I posted Seagoville in the Trivia section, since it's been dead for about 15 years. I also saw old Decatur, Skydive Houston, Skydive Aggieland and Sport Flyers near Brookshire on my trip to Amarillo and back to Houston Sunday-Tuesday, December 12-14 2004. My goal is to someday see either someone in freefall or canopies while flying by in an airliner. The pic of old Decatur is not included because it was about 30 miles away. Russell M. Seagoville is Southeast of Dallas off of Hwy 175. It was an active C182 DZ for decades until George, the owner, died. I put a couple of lawyers out on square canopy static lines the weekend before I went off to law school in 1985. It's my belief that those two were the very first FJC SL on square parachutes in Texas. One of them, Bubba, became an active jumper. The water was not there when it was open. Russell M. Just flew over Seagoville yesterday on Southwest Airlines. I had a good seat and my 20D ready. Those were the days.

I hate that aspect also. I paid $70 for a Canon and $35 for a bite switch and joined them. I've also seen Chinese versions on Ebay for $20. Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com

Back in the days when tandem was still "experimental" I might tend to support paying more. It's not experimental, though. Two slots for two fun jumpers is still two slots. How would you feel if you happened to show up solo with your own gear at a tandem mill by mistake, and the DZO wanted FIFTY or even TWENTY extra from you just so he could make mo money. That seems to be what this operation was. I do keep the local packers employed, though.
-
Probably yucky, but I'll listen to locals tell it. Going West on vacation in a couple of weeks.
-
Absolutly. As a TI yourself you should realize a Tandem jump carries far more risk than a solo fun jump on conventional gear. Actually, a tandem with an "experienced" passenger is much more routine than what you might get with a scared person doing their first jump. I'm not the least bit worried about ANY of my experienced girlfriends hosing me. Even Rhonda, with her knees up body position on EVERY jump. Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com

>>>>Just a thought.....what if the dzo stated to you that tandem jumps were $200 at his dz, and he would pay you $30 as a TI and an extra $10 for packing. or he will give you $60 for using your own gear and you pack it up... Then what if he told you there was a contract to sign between Instructors and the dzo for lilability issues. ... Then said you would have to wait till the close of business on sunday to receive your check for $60 and then ask for your social security # for income tax reasons.

They'd probably busting down the doors to get in there and jump. I know my own interest in skydiving was piqued after a fatality at a local dz In my 26 years of jumping, I'm not aware of a DZ being destroyed because of a fatality. (Except the one up in the Northwest somewhere that was being run like the "Pecos School of Skydiving" and deserved to be shut down.) Russell M. We'll be heading West on December 22 for our little winter vacation. Last year we jumped at Taft and Marana. This year we hope to jump at Marana again as well as Coolidge and possibly Eloy. (Haven't talked to them yet, but we jumped all of their planes at Rantoul) Might even end up in California. Looking forward to hearing from friendly DZs who will welcome us without an excessive price tag.

1. We are simply two fun jumpers on one rig. 2. Other fun jumpers jump on your waivers too. (They bounce alot more often than tandems.) 3. Out of town fun jumpers cannot be "risk assessed" as easily as someone like me 4. My girlfriend from out of town is absolutely not likely to be a paying customer, so your business does not suffer. 5. At a premium price, we don't hang out and make more than one jump. (We made a days worth at Moss Point and had a blast. Thank's Mike) Russell M.
