    Just returned from Minesoota where I did my 1000th tandem. Along the way I visited a classmate of mine from Saudi Arabia in the SIXTIES. (Aramco Brat) His kid, it turns out, is a 3rd Gen jumper. Gramps (Roy) jumped on D Day, Dad jumped as a Father's Day gift, and Jimmy jumped after RW paid a visit returning from Couch Freaks in 1999, leaving a copy of RWSD 5. (It's not an ad Green) Anyway, Jimmy tells me that he started jumping recently and took the ole RW video to the DZ where it got WORN OUT. Thankfully I had transferred it to DVD. I left him a copy to continue the legend of RW. Oh, yes. His name is BOYD; Jimmy! Look for him to appear at Couch Freaks! (Be there, BOYD!) Russell M.     I was sitting in my office today when I heard a loud "whump" sound coming from the street. Got up and looked out the window to see the Bud man unloading kegs to be delivered to the sports bar downstairs. Before loading onto a hand truck he took each keg and dropped it about three feet on its side. (Kinda like what we do with trophies in Texas before annointing SCR newbies.) Is this normal?     The following text is reprinted by permission from Diana Lynn of Stacy, MN. She and I grew up in Saudi Arabia in the sixties, and, as all good Aramco Brats do, we have reunions. It's her rendition of the jump. During the formal Aramco Brat Reunion at the end of May 2005, she got a ride to about 4500 feet in Skydive Houston's Super Otter before being forced down due to bad weather. Minnestota was my 25th state too!

    My thoughts. Usually, after they've jumped a few times, I just want to pay for slots for my friends. I'm perfectly willing to pay the piper for a first timer, though.     In November I began THIS thread about visiting tandem instructors. Now, as I approach my 1000th tandem, I plan to travel to a far away place to share my milestone with a friend. In order to do that I will and am contacting DZO's in that far away place to get assurance that I will be allowed to take my friend along with me on my thousandth tandem jump. Mixed results. The first DZ I contacted said absolutely not, because he's afraid his staff would be upset and leave if they let some "outsider" come do a tandem. Mind you, PRICE was never discussed, as I figured we'd pay the price of a first timer. Other discussions with more understanding operators are in progress, so it's likely that I'll get that jump, and she'll share it with me. Why would you get upset enough to run off if a visiting instructor brought his student and jumped her? Would you? Probably not, I thought. Remember, I have my own tandem rig, and I'm very current.
