50 jumps jumping a 155 Rage (150 Katana) raising concern

pepperell tree landing being billed 10grand
IanHarrop replied to JALUV2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This is the point that sticks with me. These people are probably on salary so the actual incremental costs for this rescue are minimal. As such, this is looks like a cash grab to me. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy -
I believe that these are the receivers we use http://www.pwservice.us/cp/scripts/prodView.asp?idProduct=15 Not sure exactly which model of transmitter.. but it think its this http://www.pwservice.us/cp/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=20 and you need a spare battery pack for the transmitter. Talk to the supplier to make sure that you get the exact right stuff that is compatible, these look right but... How busy your student operation is will dictate how many receivers you need. At least 2 full loads. I have been at dropzones that tried to use cheaper radios, its not worth the hassle. Edit to add: When the students are 400 in the high and 400 feet away I can hear my own voice coming from their radios. Blue Skies Magazine Sponsoring a Skyride Boogie?
IanHarrop replied to Driver1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I am in 100% agreement with you. I emailed Lara to let her know about this thread but I am pretty sure she's out of the office today, her Facebook mentioned heading into the everglades. I am betting that those who are making this into a big issue haven't taken the time to talk to BSM. As I said in a previous post busy people make snap decision, not all snap decisions are going to be perfect. Getting crucified for sending a bit of swag to a boogie seems a bit extreme to me. Blue Skies Magazine Sponsoring a Skyride Boogie?
IanHarrop replied to Driver1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
WOW....Just WOW...How about contact the magazine, Voice your issues??? Reminds me of Lemmings! and what would those be that they do not already know? These folks are not stupid. They chose to support liars thieves and hucksters. It isn't a surprise to them. I really liked the magazine and thought they really wanted to bring something to the community and I wanted to support that but I CHOSE NOT TO SUPPORT LIEARS THIEVES AND HUCKSTERS andI know my friends feel the same and those over at BSM know or should have known that a great many readers feel the same. Again I ,they and everyone else has the RIGHT to spend their money wherever and with whomever they choose. What did BSM say when you spoke to them about this issue? Blue Skies Magazine Sponsoring a Skyride Boogie?
IanHarrop replied to Driver1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You want to cancel your subscription, fine, vote with you wallet. But trying to hurt BSM by encouraging others to do the same is going over board. I agree with this statement: Busy people make snap decisions and sometimes a snap decision turns out to be wrong. Does that mean we should crucify them for it? What should we do to you next time you make a mistake? "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy -
That's exactly the reason I made light of his post suggesting a frap hat is good. I figured best to treat his post as if it was a joke. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Some skydivers are real dummies
IanHarrop replied to ZigZagMarquis's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
If you're planning on using your reserve, you have to wear a third parachute. Who knows what these dummies have planned ;-) "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy -

Hey Jim, Just thought these words could be applied to you too: "As far as I know I have not seen you being titled up there as the guru of parachutes in Canada. Believe it or not there are times you are wrong." Not saying that anything you've said in this thread is wrong, but just that you always have a way of saying things that includes a dig at other people. "Just something I have to get off my chest." Buyer Scams: Western Union and Certified "Cheques"
IanHarrop replied to j_ung's topic in Security and Scam Alerts
I wouldn't take any kind of cheque from anyone where there are any questions. Don't feel 100% comfortable with a buyer (ie won't say where he jumps or who his rigger is), don't accept any kind of cheque. AMERICANS SNEAKING INTO CANADA IN RECORD NUMBERS
IanHarrop replied to IanHarrop's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't often come to SC (for good reason when I look at the posts here) but I got this in an email this morning, found it funny, and this seems like the appropriate place to share this kind of humor -
