  1. You're assuming that AllieCat is a man - no real name in their profile... could be a woman "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  2. ....................................................................... Tee! Hee! Some manufacturers are fussier than others. For example, Strong insisted on test dropping Vigil 1 before they approved it in their tandem systems. They loaded up rubber test dummies with 500 pound bundles (a common military free fall load) and dropped them out of airplanes above 10,000 feet. Since the dummies exceeded 200 miles per hour, the Vigils got confused and shut off ... something about exceeding the envelope. After "bouncing" a couple of rubber dummies, Strong Enterprises was "reluctant" to approve Vigil 1 and waited until Vigil 2 was introduced before approving them. I've just had an AH HA moment! That explains why when Vigil 2s get confused they fire. It was a remedy to the situation you described. Get confused? Fire! Like the time the Vigils got confused by the aircraft pressurizing on the ground and all the Vigils wondered why they were below take off altitude... so they fired. Thanks Rob! Now I understand why Vigils behave like this. Simple problem, simple answer. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  3. Several provider CAA and TIC both cover skydiving. CAA depending on the province might not, but I know Alberta CAA does. TIC does across Canada. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

From another thread, this is the link to the letter that was in Skydiving Magazine http://www.cypres-usa.com/cyp13.htm "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  7. Americans are not equipped to discuss good beer... they don't brew any. What's the similarity of American beer and making love in a canoe? . . . . They're both fucking near water. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  8. I had one do the same thing in Austraila in April. I packed the rig in the morning, turned on the Vigil (SN lower than 6600 and software 1.36) as I do with all AAD's after a re-pack and then went out. Went back to the loft around 9pm with another customer to pick up their rig and found the Vigil had fired. No idea when or weather conditions on the day as I was out all day. Did you send the Vigil in to be checked, and if so - what did they say? "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  9. OUR GOAL: 100% RELIABILITY AND 100% SAFETY they do not claim 100% reliability and safety... they claim it is their goal.. They could have 27.5% reliabilty and 14% safety... and still have a 100% goal... Sorry, I should have highlighted the line that causes me to think that some might read it as guaranteeing safety. Yes I know it really means, but newbies might read more into this line. "Only the original CYPRES quality guarantees the safety you are looking for - for 12.5 years." 12. The chart is only page 1 of a 22 page document. Make sure you read and can perform the maneuvers listed starting on page 7. The best time to consider downsizing is when you do everything with the canopy you already use. http://www.bigairsportz.com/pdf/bas-sizingchart.pdf "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  13. I don't know Bolas at all, never met him and probably never will, but his continued concern over potential financial penalties (a minor point of Robin's post) causes me to wonder if he is concerned that he may well be the recipient of such a penalty, or perhaps he just didn't understand the major thrust of Robin's post. 14. From a strictly monetary standpoint: Would these fines assessed by the DZ staff go directly to the DZ? If so, the more they fine, the more pure profit they make. On the flip side, if a DZ grounds someone, that's lost revenue. Perhaps the solution is coming up with a system where the DZ itself neither loses or gains by disciplining a jumper. Ex: If a jumper is fined, the jump ticket fine still takes a slot on the next plane going up so if full, one less jumper can go. If someone wanted to calculate an average per slot profit that portion of the fine could go to the DZ and the rest could go towards a canopy education effort. The penalty is not nearly as important as having a set of rules to enforce. As Robin said each DZ can have its own set of penalties and if your DZO has rules that you think unfairly contribute to his profits, you can either lobby him for different penalties or choose a new place to jump. I've been enjoying the posts by people that are truly contributing to making our sport safer and hope that we can keep the focus of the discussion on things that really matter. Let's get some more contributions about what rules need to be developed. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

HINT- look just above the button you have found that says Post Reply. To be blunt if you couldn't figure that out by yourself it makes me wonder about you even more. 24. Keep in mind that its common practice for inbound call centers to answer the phone based on "called number ID". I used to work in the hotel reservation industry and our call center answered the phones for hundreds of hotels all with "Thank you for calling"... whatever the computer says.
