An interesting assumption - Low smoking rate means long life expectancy. I am not saying its not true but - according to this Japan has a fairly high smoking rate http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_cigarette_consumption_per_capita - according to this Japan has the longest life expectancy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy So maybe there is another reason Australians are living longer.... Cheapest AAD that doesn't make you LESS safe?
IanHarrop replied to rss_v's topic in Gear and Rigging
If that's case I'd suggest buying a timed-out Cypres. Put it in you rig and never turn it on. Don't even bother to thread the closing loop through the cutter. You have met the requirement to have an AAD installed in your rig, check the box. Cheap and will not interfere with the operation of your reserve -
Watching the video was entertaining.... he runs into a variety of errors messages to which the solution is always "just click through this" I know that doing tutorial videos is a pain and takes a lot of time and effort to do well. Just glad its not me on that video. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Things have changed... you just haven't noticed I am not going to go through each thing. and obviously real teleporting is still only a dream clicky but as for life expectancy, on a global basis it has changed - In 1900, global average lifespan was just 31 years, and below 50 years in even the richest countries - By the mid--20th century, average life expectancy rose to 48 years - In 2005, average lifespan reached 65.6 years; over 80 years in some countries Planes have now been around for over 100 hundred years but things have changed a bunch in the last 50 years. In the 1960s air travel was for the "jet set", the regular folks couldn't afford it. Now we complain that the airport is so crowded... I think the reason we don't notice change is that we've come to expect it. Change is part of our everyday. In the 1970s I had to go through an operator to make a phone call to my parents in France from Canada. Now I Skype with my buddy who's travelling in SE Asia and staying hostels - even the $4 a night hostels have free internet there. He's using a laptop computer. When I first started programming in the early 70s a small computer was the size of a phone booth. We don't see many phone booths these days because the phone in our pockets is smaller than a pack of smokes and connects to the internet where we can watch video while we map where we are using GPS. Edit to add: I have confirmed GoCrazy is no longer operating. Ken is going to have dz.com remove the listing from the gear section I think Go Crazy ain't going crazy any more. I think they have closed up shop. Website gone. Quite sometime ago I sent a message to Terry and Ken asking what happened and got nothing back. I own one of their suits well made. Too bad. As the saying goes "Dress for success". A jumpsuit is a tool. I won't make any recommendations on what you should buy as I have no information about your body type or how you fly. You might want to talk to Aidan or one of the other instructors at Eden, if that's still where you jump. PM me if you need help making contact with someone. Does the seal press leave a imprint on the tyvek seals? I am asking only because of the need to comply with the FAR: "Federal Aviation Regulations - Sec. 65.133 — Seal. Each certificated parachute rigger must have a seal with an identifying mark prescribed by the Administrator, and a seal press. After packing a parachute he shall seal the pack with his seal in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendation for that type of parachute. Feedback wanted, application for new cutter, Argus?
IanHarrop replied to df8m1's topic in Gear and Rigging
There fixed it for ya.... My understanding is that the main reason we still don't see the M2 sold in North America is the reluctance of most of the rig manufacturers to even schedule time to look at it.
