Stretching before a jump...
IanHarrop replied to BigMikeH77's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
http://life.nationalpost.com/2013/04/05/stretching-before-workouts-may-weaken-muscles-impair-athletic-performance-studies/ Excerpt: A study published in this month’s Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research concluded that static stretching performed before weight-lifting made athletes feel weaker. Researchers suggest that static stretching before physical activity may alter or impair the neurological function in active musculature. Research published in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports featured similar findings. FAA approval of 6 skydivers in Cessna 206-U
IanHarrop replied to hjortur's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
6 jumpers + pilot in a 206 is normal at a Cessna DZ. You may not think its right but it has been thus for many years. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy -
As he is in the UK and if he read the link I supplied he could go to Alti-2 UK office. Per the link: EUROPEAN REPAIR FACILITY Alti-2 Europe Limited 15 Haskins Walk Grange Farm Kesgrave Ipswich, Suffolk IP5 2BL Great Britain Phone: +442075588406 Email: zoe@alti-2.eu "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Perhaps what he's trying to say is that any warranty will be voided and any damage to the unit during the attempted repair could be expensive to fix. If that's what he's trying to say, he is correct. Good thing I supplied the link to Alti-2's RMA process and suggested the unit be sent it in. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

First let me say that sending it back to Alti-2 for service is probably your best bet. They are good people and they provide excellent service. Having said that it is pretty easy to open an Alti-II and clean the works with Naptha. Naptha doesn't leave a residue and that's a good thing when cleaning an altimeter. If you choose to do this I highly recommend that you find someone (probably a rigger) with a test chamber so you can exercise the device after cleaning it and compare it to a properly functioning unit. Considering this is a piece of equipment that can directly impact your safety sending it to Alti-2 really is the best thing to do. Ask yourself this: How comfortable will you be with an altimeter you've serviced yourself?

DB Cooper thread is worse, its now at 1,666,334 views "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Don't get me wrong I like the new format BUT I hate seeing the DB Cooper thread in the list of Recent Forum Discussions at the bottom of the page. I wonder if there is any way to remove that thread from the list? The fact that those people waste electrons rehashing that topic is bad enough, being reminded that they do so sucks. Isn't there a forum rule about wasting bandwidth? I've heard that some people think discussions in Bonfire are a waste but there is nothing in Bonfire that comes any where close to the waste that the DB Cooper thread represents.
