Psycho packers: How to control the slider?
IanHarrop replied to grue's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Video would be great but these pictures show the folding... http://www.precision.aero/omega_pack.htm "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy -
I guess we disagree In the states 18 is old enough to sign up for the military and go off and die for your country. This guy was 21, I guess he made the decision to risk his life for a different cause. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

I don't have a real problem with it. He knew what he was doing, he knew what the penalty was if he got caught. He must have decided that the risk was worth the reward because he proceeded to smuggle drugs, knowing what the penalty was. He guessed wrong. Is there a particular diameter of silicone tubing you use? I'm thinking about giving this a try. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Things for sale should go into Classifieds. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/page.cgi?d=1 There's actually a rule against advertising things for sale in the forums. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=142088 Edit to add: crap I sound like the forum police..... sorry about that. You're new so you probably didn't know but there was no need for me to come off sounding like a jerk. With Rip cords you can have pilot chute in tow if the pack opening bands (do they still use them?) catch on the pilot chute. You can also have pilot chute hesitations if the pilot chute gets stuck in your burble, and rip cord housing were know to get stones in them and jam up the ripcord. A hand deployed pilot chute is better for most people. Edit to add: forgot about bent pins - another potential problem with rip cords. If you go with the throw out for student jumps you do not have to transition to it later, that is you don't have to learn rip-cord and then switch later. Just one jumper's thoughts.

Since I don't believe that either heaven or hell exist, I don't believe anyone goes anywhere. Others are free to believe differently. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

How much do winds really push you in freefall
IanHarrop replied to tdog's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Check out John Kallend's site, there are some free fall modelling tools there that will let you play with the winds and see. They're really designed to show what happens when you don't leave enough time between jumpers exiting the plane but you'll get the idea as you change value for either upper or lower winds what happens to the jumper's trajectory. http://www.iit.edu/~kallend/skydive/ "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy -
The author of this one posts here often (and its a good book)

You should update your profile for the short descriptions. It requires less scrolling when browsing the forums.

I tried to send a postcard to myself, didn't get any error messages, but never got the postcard. I wanted to see what the postcard looked like before I sent it to someone. I have turned off all spam controls, including at the ISP level, and tried again, a couple of times. Are they also doing the "USA" lettering for that price? "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

I would avoid a full face at your number of jumps, stick with the open face for now and as everyone else has said, learn to breath out, and of course back in again following that, and repeat. Screaming works

Canada's government and the no-confidence vote

Did you specify working as a team was not allowed??? yes. many times. they even asked and I said no. easy to grade I guess.... I used to mark paper a lot in university. For those that handed in identical work there were a couple of solutions - everybody gets the grade/divided by the number of same papers - first paper I marked got the whole grade, the second one half, the third one a third.... - everybody gets zero - my favorite "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

I never delete jumps unless I loan my Neptune to someone - their jumps I delete When you're importing into Paralog just have it set to not over write existing data. BTW, what version of software is running on your Neptune? "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Why did you delete the jumps out of the Neptune? "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

That's unusual, typically the detailed profile doesn't disappear from the Neptune until after 10 subsequent jumps. Have you tried contacting Alti-2? lara@alti-2.com "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
