But this person was not fresh off a FJC. They had more than 100 jumps. Sorry, just can't agree. My theory that they are covering for freezing has just as much creditbility. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

That is because you are seeing it from your perspective. Listen to how the Instructors on here are talking about how to teach AAD's/RSL's. It is difficult to teach because of the potential for misunderstanding. It is very easy for a student to come away from a FJC with the uderstanding allt hey have to do is cutaway and the RSL will activate the reserve and still understand what the reserve handle does. 100 jumps doesn't mean anything. People tnd to revert back to their initial training in an emergency situation. If you don't buy it, teach some FJC's and then have the students explain everything back to you. You'll be amazed at how much you didn't get across. It gets easier as you begin to teach from their perspective (0 skydives) and not from your perspective. Derek Sorry, we're going to have to disagree on this one. I do not believe that anyone with >100 jumps knows to pull both handles. Yes this is my perspective. Blaming the FJC has developed in this thread to offer an excuse for someone's statement that they were waiting for the RSL. I believe that the person is covering up the fact that they froze. It an alternative that has just as much viability as the blaming the FJC. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Right on. I think you've defined the problem correctly. Some breeds are more powerful so when one of those animals makes a mistake, the damage is more severe. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

She had two handles. Anyone with >100 jumps understands to pull both of them. The excuse about waiting for the RSL is BS. I don't buy it. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

I agree. I cannot in my wildest dreams believe that someone with >100 jumps did not know to cutaway and then pull the reserve. I've read this thread and unlike some people who want to cut her some slack, I don't. She froze and didn't do her EPs. She knew them but didn't do them. Isn't this how Iraq got invaded? After all Iraq didn't have WMD and Iraq didn't do 9/11 but the US felt wronged. (This is not a negative comment directed at DaVinci [edit to add: "or anybody else"] but an observation of how things happen, just watching an interpersonal interaction and then blowing it up to ME proportions) Okay... so back to the topic of this thread... Does any body really think that the "war on terror" can actually be won? To be won, wouldn't the war on terror need to end? How do you declare victory against an enemy you cannot identify and who will not stop just because one day the US decides to bring its forces home? Is coming home enough to declare victory? Will we one day again hear the words once said by Nixon and decide that "peace with honour" is the only way out? It also sets very fast, fast enough that the possibility that someone else put it there and he sat on it before it set is pretty slim. I'd bet he did it himself. Could be... but if you listen to the interview he has an explanation for it. This guys is looking for a lot of $$$ and the terrible, mean and vicious people at Home Depot are gonna pay Long, rambling interview video can be seen by going to the link I posted and its over on the right hand side. Private jet crashes at Hobby, killing two 737 diverted to Bush IAH (11/5/05 - KTRK/HOUSTON) - A private jet has crashed at Hobby Airport, killing two people. The accident happened just before 10am Saturday. There was apparently a 737 coming in for a landing some type of difficulty. Air traffic controllers told the pilot of the smaller plane to move off the runway to make way for the 737. The pilot took off in the jet, circled back around, tried to land again and crashed. The Citation aircraft skidded a distance through a grassy area and ended up on runway #22 where it caught fire. Both people on board are dead, according to HFD officials. The 737 was diverted to Bush Intercontinental Airport where it landed safely. There's no word yet on what type of problems that plane was experiencing. Hobby Airport was closed for about an hour following the crash. http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=local&id=3606961 "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

I love this thread !!! Reading this is very educational, thanks for starting it !!! We have Americans arguing that it is right for them to employ the tactics of those they despise. God I hope they never successfully run for office - these are not the people you want running the country. OOPS - forgot, these tactics are being employed by the current government... oh well America was a nice dream while it lasted "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
