    The other night the fire department I belong to had it's end of the year festivities and the out going capitan wanted to thank every one who has helped him with training over the last few years. After naming off a couple guys he said he especially wanted to thank me for all the time and use of equipment I've donated for setting up training scenarios. Then he said (as most of you know Marc is a big fan of skydiving) and handed me an envelope with a certificate for five jump tickets. Needless to say I was very happy.

    I'm a volunteer fire fighter and have been since I was 15 years old. Started as an explorer and became a full member at 18, I'm 30 now so thats almost half my life chasing a fire truck.

    Why is it not acceptable to let your kid skydive but, they can scuba dive at eight. Isn't that almost as dangerous.

    My two trucks go through cycles of real clean and down right discusting. The 03 chevy is normaly pretty good but the 97 chevy gets baddly abused some times durring the year especily durring planting and harvest seasons.

    Just make sure cat is out of engine compartment when you start engine. They make a hell of a mess when they get stuck in the fan.

    Yea , some of the stuff I did as a kid was nothing short of slave labour. Now it's still slave labour, it's just that I'm doing it for myself.

    Yea, thats it, carpool. Saves money on gas to pay for jumps in warmer climates. Now I just need to find someone to plow snow while I'm away.

    Fuck that. I'm going to the DZ 10 minutes from my house instead of driving up there for bowling and drinking. Screw you southerners. Us polar bears up here in the frozen north need to stick togeather.

    Couch Freaks again in Sept. and hopefuly SDC and maybe a few other DZs along the way. Other than that I hope to make it down south for a few jumps this winter.

    Jury Duty

    I kind of liked jury duty when I had to go. I got paid for three partial days of sitting there on a DWI case. I remember that a girl on the jury with me said she had made several skydives and everyone was asking all about it. She was very eager to tell all about it. That was before I ever thought about jumping. Now I know why she talked so much about it.

    I remember as a kid (thinking 20-25 years ago) how it used to be such a big deal when there was a "special" on tv. I don't just mean a big deal because we were kids, but advertised like crazy on TV, changing the regular broadcast schedule, etc. Yea I remember that too, but we only had four TV stations then also. The other night I sat and watched It's A Wonderful Life. I think it's a shame that it is only on once at Christmas now. I remember a few years ago it was on almost non stop. I guess A Christmas Story has replaced that now.
