I figured I needed to spend some time with the whuffos this weekend since the season is about to begin. Plus I will be at the Skydive Chicago Expo in two weeks....so, I went and marched behind the Mayor (pic of him with my friends in there as well) in the Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade. Check them out! yeah right.....and you support the "Patriot Act" Thomas No, I don't support it. But come on - it is school! Go and get an education, do the rest outside. I don't see how focusing on safety for the kids and their education is going to hurt them. How about a reality check here. Don't like it? Then home school. Figured we needed an ongoing thread where you could recommend any type of music, song, group, CD, etc..... I've recently discovered Robert Randolph and the Family Band - anything you hear from him is amazing. Check out his site www.RobertRandolph.net for some samples. I guess you would place him in the Blues section, but I can see how he could be considered Rock as well. I've read reviews comparing him to Duane Allman, and can easily hear that in his music. Also, Jet is a great new band - a mix of the Rolling Stones and AC/DC. I will check out ACDSee. I wanted to see what options there were...HTML style may be nice, I just want the end result to be organization....I had no idea how many pictures I had collected on my laptop (I'm scared to look at how many I have on my PC). One of these days I will get around to organizing my music as well. If I am not mistaken, that is pretty much a mirror of www.downloads.com... I've decided to organize the hundreds of pictures on my laptop...I just can't find what I am looking for anymore. I know there are a few nice programs out there for creating albums and tags, but are there any good free ones? I'm working on a very limited budget these days and can't afford to purchase any new software. Yup, we were both there that night! Heather was the one that realized who you were just from your jumpsuit! I was really humbled that night, funny how the tunnel does that to you. She called me quite exhausted last night - sounds like she is loving the camp and is really learning a lot. Sounds like the camp is going great, and it is a good deal (esp the low cost)! Which God should that be? And who gets to decide? Is there one God in this country that represents her entire people? While several religions share similar moral guidelines and their gods seem to look alike...there are plenty of religions in this country that do not follow the christian/catholic structure of beliefs. Technically Atheism is a faith - it is a belief structure - they do not believe in a god - and forcing a god upon them would be a violation of their rights. Wouldn't One Nation under All Gods (Would you want One Nation under Allah?) be more along the guidelines of what this Nation was founded on: Freedom from religious persecution? We are a melting pot of many races - and religions. Our government should recognize it and represent that. When this country first started we were not as diversified as we are now - the "PC" movement was one of inclusion that went too far, but it is based on the good intentions of equality for all people. I grew up listening to my grandparents from Ireland talking about the end of society and civilation EVERYTIME something new came up that challenged their beliefs. The fact that my sister was wearing makeup and calling her "guy friends" was to them a signal of the end of the civilized world (no, that is not exaggerated). My mom carried on the same tradition...to the point where she believes that a Catholic marrying someone from another religion will go to hell (yes, I have explained to her how the church doesn't feel this way). Sorry, I've heard someone cry wolf too many times about the end of our culture but yet we are still here. I don't think forcing god upon the populace is the band-aid that will resolve the problems we have in this country. In fact, it seems to be the baseline for some of the most passionate arguments and even violent demonstrations (blowing up abortion patients/doctors/clinics). So we should just ignore the minority, once again? I'm sure he went thru hell, but he lost me here: No thanks. Any politician that feels the need to force religion upon the population never gets my vote. If Kerry start saying junk like this, I just wouldn't vote in the election. The ignorance of this statement upsets me. Christianity is not the only faith in this country. We are at our current level state of emergency in this country because of religion.
