  6. Did someone make that request again??? Mooning and wardrobe are not the same thing. Geez, can the government shut down more forms of personal expression and censorship while they are at it? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 7. That is why we are here today wasting our time talking b/c they did not do their job. I don't have kids. I remember my elders bitching about how I dressed at the same age, as did my grandparents did about my parents, etc....this is a time honored tradition of the previous generation bitching about the next. So they are showing their underwear? wow, thats terrible. They show their stomachs as well, plumbers show their cracks, tank tops show clevage, people on the beach show farrrrrrr more..... If the girls are showing their bathing suit under their clothes, would that make it better? I was just in LA last weekend - seemed like there were a few other issues that state should concentrate on first. Horny teenagers showing skin or underwear shouldnt be a priority _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 9. Hah...good point. I recall a not so distant Sat. afternoon I had to walk 6 blocks holding my pants up and shuffling my feet. Well, at least now we can count on the fact we will never see you exposing your thong again! Seriously - if this is an issue for kids - maybe the parents should take care of this instead of the law. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 10. Vatican Cracks Down on Liturgical Abuses By NICOLE WINFIELD, Associated Press Writer VATICAN CITY - The Vatican (news - web sites) insisted Friday that lay people must not deliver sermons or preach the Gospel during Mass, issuing a new directive to crack down on practices that are becoming increasingly frequent in the United States and Europe. The document, commissioned by Pope John Paul (news - web sites) II, softened a draft that had discouraged the use of altar girls and denounced such practices as applauding and dancing during Mass. But it was still likely to raise concern among Roman Catholics and — if followed — will likely change the way liturgies are celebrated worldwide. Cardinal Francis Arinze, whose Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments issued the document, said the majority of priests celebrate Mass correctly and stressed the directive was not intended to be "repressive" but merely to remind Catholics of church teaching. However, the document said some practices were "not infrequently" plaguing Masses, and that in some places "the perpetration of liturgical abuses has become almost habitual, a fact which obviously cannot be allowed and must cease." The directive restated church teaching on all aspects of the liturgy, from the type of vestments a priest should wear, to the timing of his prayers and the types of bread and wine used at Communion. It paid particular attention to the role of lay people in the Mass — an issue of particular concern in places where priests are increasingly in short supply. In the United States, for example, where more than 3,000 of the 19,000 parishes did not have a resident priest last year, lay people have taken on a greater role, sometimes leading worship services and delivering homilies. But the document said only priests and deacons may read the Gospel and priests "should ordinarily" deliver the homily, in which biblical readings are often interpreted for worshippers. The priest may occasionally delegate the homily to a deacon, "but never to a lay person." If there is no priest to celebrate Mass, a bishop may name a lay person as an "extraordinary minister of Holy Communion" — but that should only be when necessity dictates it and for a specific time, the document said. It said anyone conscious of being in grave sin shouldn't receive Communion without going to confession — a regulation that prompted questions about whether priests should deny Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) Communion because of his support for abortion rights. Arinze told a news conference that U.S. bishops should decide about Kerry. When pressed about the church's general position about Catholic politicians who are "unambiguously pro-abortion," Arinze said they should be denied Communion because they are "not fit" to receive it. The document also touched on other aspects of the Mass which are likely to resonate in the United States and elsewhere: _ The gesture of exchanging the peace greeting should only be done "to those who are nearest and in a sober manner." In many U.S. parishes, the exchange can go on for some time, with the priest greeting many worshippers. _ The introduction of rites taken from other religions into Mass is forbidden, and priests may not celebrate Mass in a temple or sacred place of any non-Christian religion. _ Priests should be careful not to allow non-Catholics and non-Christians to take Communion. _ It is "altogether laudable" to use altar boys at Mass; girls and women may also be used. John Paul commissioned the document last year after issuing an encyclical — his most authoritative type of teaching — on abuses concerning Communion, the sacrament in which Roman Catholics believe they receive the blood and body of Christ. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 11. Better arrest everyone at the beach as well. Should men that remove their shirts in the heat be arrested as well? Where do you draw the line. This is a goofy and useless law. Maybe they should focus more on the homeless, drug use, poor sanatation, etc....someone in hiphuggers is illegal? Hmmm...then they go to jail where they are not allowed to wear belts and their pants will hang low anyway! (btw, this is where this fashion trend orriginated from) _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  12. I searched, and didn't see this on here....also didn't know if I could place this in a skydiving forum. A quick visit to the USPA web page turned this up today: World top ranked golfer Tiger Woods, as part of a visit to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, made two tandem jumps with the Golden Knights on April 15th. After making the first—the only one scheduled—he asked to make a second. Tiger was at the Army post to experience some of the Special Forces training with his father, who is a retired Special Forces Colonel. He concluded the trip with a golf clinic for kids at the post course. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 15. Next Gen phones (usually the ones with SIM cards) can be upgraded for E911, which is enhanced 911 that would help emergency services locate someone to within a few hundred feet. Currently I have a "locate friend" service via AT&T mMode. It has to be turned on, and someone has to send me an invite to allow them onto my "buddy locate list." I only have a few people on it, and it "guesses" a location closest to a cell location. There have been a few times it has been deadly accurate, and other times it was over a mile away from where I was. The technology is coming along, but its not quite there. Usually you need to work for the cell phone company or have a court order to locate someone...otherwise you would have to do the approval process above for location services, which is set to "off" by default. Also, if you have BlueTooth on your phone, set it to "invisible" so it is harder to be "bluejacked." _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 17. Zhills is huge as well - and use the Freefall Express Otters. In the winter they have three otters, and in the summer they have one. They also have a Porter that is not airworthy and sitting in the hanger. Chicagoland also has a Super Otter, Super Porter, and a cesna. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 18. When I get home tonight I will try to post some of the pics I took on the ground during the record attempt - I was only there for a few hours but have some of flyangel2, happythoughts, kallend, and just some general landing shots and dirt dives. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 20. I wear about a 7 5/8 fitted hat and there isn't a Z1 out there than can fit me. I've had the best luck with the old Carbon Fire Oxygen, as well as the new Oxygen's. Also, the Havok was an easy fit, even with sunglasses on. I've found it easier and more comfortable to go with an open face over time, but would go back to a full face if I was doing 4way. I know before the Havok came out I was told to look at the military helmets that BoneHead makes. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 21. If you don't want to wait for the demo from PD, call Manifest or ParaConcepts (the rigging loft responsible for the gear) at Skydive Chicago - the student gear canopies are Sabre 2's that include the 190, 210, 230 and 260. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 22. We had fun with our RA in college: * Placed note on his door letting him know he was being fined for not recycling his aluminum cans. He wallked into his room to find a column of beer cans stacked from floor to ceiling which were 22 feet high. * Placed plexiglass under his bed sheet. * Told him all day long that we heard we were going to have a blizzard the next day. After he went to bed we placed a fake newspaper under his door about the snowstorm and rigged a way to hold a ton of packing peanuts outside his door. Once he opened the door it all poured in! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

  24. If I remember the fatality report, this guy survived the skydive, but upon landing he hit his throat on his chest mounted altimeter. But I guess they still consider it related to the skydive. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
