It's not a secret that many dz's cut corners on airplanes...and most people in the sport eventually hear what dz's to avoid. I do sleep well at night - I know how good my DZ takes care of thier two otters. I'll PM you my number - it sounded like it was a free visit - but i've had way too much trouble with SBC over the years to believe it. I don't think my filter is broken, but I will try another one tonight. I use SBC for both phone and DSL service - since Wednesday I have not been able to use the phones due to the large amount of static on the phone (you can't hear the other person). Due to the poor line quality DSL hasn't been working either....and now SBC is telling me they won't pro-rate my bill since I still had a dial tone. I've made tech support calls since Wed night and have been bounced around from department to department....and after finally letting them know how pissed I was they decided to send someone out tomorrow. There is a certain member on dz.com that crossed his risers when he put his canopy back in the rig....not only did he fly it backwards, he landed it without a problem (I think it was his Jedei)! Did I mention he was wearing a camera! I've seen the video and it was a strange sight it was when he looked up to see he was looking at the tail, bridle and PC! FWIW - I am sitting here at 500 jumps and one mal. I challenged myself over the past year and tried to fly with some people with tons of skills and realized how much I still need to focus on my flying. All of that has me waiting to put a camera on my head. If you are looking to get really good video and your still have to focus on your flying, you won't get the shot. You should not be doing this in the air: "Ok, I need to drop one leg and elbow to get over there and then backslide a bit and tilt my head to get that cloud and my buddy in the shot, and oh yea, what alti am I at and have we backslid into the next group" ....instead it should be "wow, cool shot over there" and next thing you know, you are there without even thinking. Use your camera helmet on the ground, walk around the house and look for some good shots....then think back and realize how much you had to move your body to get that shot and you never once thought about it. Mancow's stuff is all fake. He uses a combination of comic services that he pays for, or his interns are the voices on the other side. He has a fantastic production crew that puts all of his stuff together. How do I know this - I have been in the room as they put the bits together. His entire show is scripted from start to finish every day....in fact he can leave the studio for a while to take a bathroom break while his producer runs his bits off of tape. He is even more over-produced than Rick Dees ever was. A lot of these programs do contact the people afterwards and have them sign a release allowing the use of their image, voice, etc. What you don't see on these shows are how many people refuse to be broadcast. Have you had your rigger look at it? Did you try to pack any canopies in it to see how it would fit you (that makes a HUGE difference)? Did you ask your dealer if they ordered it in the right size? I think they are just milking this for more publicity. Also, everyone in broadcasting knows you need to let the other side of the call they are on the air. Its part of broadcasting 101....and most broadcasters break that rule. Why would you want to use a protocol that most people do not use? I'm a geek and I don't even have a 11a capable card. I think the issue would be easier to fix if there was a budget to fix it....there are several ways around it but it all costs $$$$. It is a great little program - and powerful as hell. It was the only way I was able to remove certain BHO and other things that loaded up with IE that wouldn't go away no matter what I tried (and I got tired of searching the registry). Also, I found a program that will unload the MS Journal viewer (IIRC winisp) which loads into memory and stays there if you use an Adobe product. About time the computer industry came up with a code of ethics! People who perpetrate this kind of thing should be parted from some vital organs. I have been running it for a couple of years without an issue. Spybot Search and Destroy is another good one - but not as user friendly, but it does catch some things that AdAware doesn't grab yet. For those with strong computer skills, there is a little program called "Hijack This" which was written in assembler and scans for everything that starts with the machine. The real danger with this is you can turn off anything!
