  1. I have had nothing but great success with them. In fact, every ground package I've sent or received has shown up early. All 3p Next Day packages have arrived before 10a. On the other hand I have had UPS and FedEx lose quite a few packages on me. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 6. I think Powell gets a bad rep for what he does. Some of his opinions are quite progressive and he feels that the FCC is becoming obsolete. He feels with cable, dish tv, and the internet there will not be that much of demand anymore for broadcast regulations. At most his strings are being pulled by those on the Hill with an agenda. Speaking of agendas - some of our representative want the FCC to be able to impose strict regulations on non broadcast television. They feel that FX, HBO, MTV, etc should be allowed free range to play and say what they want and should have to follow rules similar to broadcast tv. Powell has actually spoken out against that, but those with the agendas really raised a stink about it after the super bowl. This is far from over - and it will only get worse form here. Too bad - our society was actually becoming open minded for a while. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 7. Consvatives like war (movies), so why would they complain, right?J I know quite a few people that didn't like the movie or were ill because of the violence. One of them happens to be a conservative (I saw the movie with her, so I know how she reacted). So, I'm thinking someone will complain. btw - the article mentioned they cannot edit anything in the movie if they are to show it, that is the agreement with Spielberg. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 8. The public has shown that it has double standards - complaining about Howard Stern airing a tape of Oprah and her guest talking about sex got him in trouble, but it didn't get Oprah in trouble!!! The FCC will handle any complaint that comes in and won't just overlook it. Due to pressure from the Hill they have been over reactive to increase fines to make examples out of offenders. ABC affiliates are pulling the movie so they are not made an example and so they don't have any trouble when it comes to renewing their license. You are thinking logically. People can change the channel for Stern, et all but they don't. Instead, they listen and then call in to complain. I'm sure that at least one parent tonight would get upset if little Johnny saw the violence on tv tonight and call in to complain. Remember - this is a "conservative" nation now. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

  11. Nothing better than Real Chicago Pizza in Chicago. Just can't be beat. I as ten minutes out the door for lunch yesterday when my job called me back to take care of a "walk in." Since I closed the sale they bought me pizza since I missed out on lunch. BTW - I realized yesterday that since they transfered me to the burbs that I am five minutes away from Para Gear _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 13. Everyone warned, myself included, that the over reaction on fines would eventually snowball. It didn't take that long did it? So, due to the "moral, conservative majority" tv stations cannot honor Veteran's Day without fear of fines from the FCC. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 14. The FCC does not enact fines on its own, it has to wait until there are complaints then they have to investigate. The guideline they live by is "current community standards." Combine the Bono F-bomb, Janet's Boob, Stern getting fined for airing Oprah's show that talked about sex (despite Oprah not getting fined because no one complained about her show) with the current 'conservative majority' mindset after the last election and you have a scared media. It is very possible that the FCC could receive complaints tomorrow about this despite the previous airing in the past. We could even see this for Schindler's List as well. The populace is over reactive these days. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  15. see full story here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A41464-2004Nov10.html 'Saving Private Ryan': A New Casualty of the Indecency War By Lisa de Moraes Thursday, November 11, 2004; Page C01 ABC suits scrambled yesterday to try to contain the mutiny among stations that refuse to air tonight's broadcast of the unedited "Saving Private Ryan," citing indecency concerns. At press time, ABC stations owned by Cox Television, Citadel Communications, Belo Corp., Hearst-Argyle and Scripps Howard Broadcasting, among others, had declined to air the 1998 Academy Award-winning movie. They say they're afraid the film's scenes of extreme violence and intense adult language will lead to sanctions by the Federal Communications Commission under its new, supersize anti-indecency standards. Among those preempting the World War II movie are stations in Dallas (the country's seventh largest television market), Atlanta (No. 9), Tampa (No. 13), Phoenix (No. 15) and Orlando (No. 20). Foul language has made ABC stations hesitant to air "Saving Private Ryan." (David James -- Dreamworks Llc/paramount Pictures/amblin Enterta) Ironically, most of them already aired "Saving Private Ryan" when ABC ran it, unedited, to commemorate Veterans Day in 2001 and 2002. Of course, those broadcasts predated the FCC's decision to slap CBS-owned TV stations with a record $550,000 fine over the national debut of Janet Jackson's breast at the Super Bowl, and the commission's ruling that a rocker's spontaneous use of an expletive at a trophy show broadcast by NBC was indecent and profane. ABC has told its affiliate stations it would cover any fine the FCC might choose to impose over the movie broadcast. However, should the FCC fine a station, that could be used against it when its license comes up for renewal. "The Federal Communications Commission has changed its standards for certain content related to programming broadcast before 10 p.m.," Ray Cole, president of Citadel Communications, said in a news release. Citadel's ABC affiliates in Des Moines and Sioux City, Iowa, and Lincoln, Neb., are preempting the movie. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 17. You mean I sound like someone that thinks out of the box instead of with just a gun? How many years of the same mistakes do our administrations need to make before they wake up? A lot of the "leadership" decisions this and past presidents have made have brought us to this point in history. You seem like a smart guy and should be able to understand that without examples. Taking another route is not giving up - it's being smart and looking out for the future. I guess I am thinking long term security instead of just three years. Wow, how foolish is that??? Do I have the answer? Nope, but I am willing to force the issue that what we are doing is not working. If you think the America is safe because of three years of quiet just on our shores, then you are mistaken. It wouldn't take much for a Spain or Bali to happen here again. Hell, those could even be practice runs for another shot on our country. The world is much less safe now than it was three years ago. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 18. Thank god the terrorists works on your and Ashcrofts time table! Terrorism has not stopped on a global level. Therefore, since it is still there in the rest of the world, we are not safe here at home. This thought goes up there with "winning the war" against terrorism. Really? What hill did we place a flag on that will defeat the mindset that wants to terrorize us into submission (not take over our country)? This is a battle without borders, and you have to find a way to effect change in the thought process of those most likely to become extremists. Killing off thousands of innocent children and other civilians is counter productive to securing the safety of our homeland. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 19. Well, since they are the minority, I guess they are just crazy people that shouldn't have their opinion heard? Interesting to watch all these conservatives that have been demanding the 49% to get in line and bring peace to the country that is split are the ones discounting opinions and throwing around childish insults. I don't care who she is, how much she makes or what she says. It holds merit because she is an American citizen. Those that want her to shut up or want her to leave the country because she speaks up are very un-American. Feel free to speak your opinion - its your right, just like it is hers. If you remove your conservative blinders you will see she was refering to the fact to think globally, not locally. To not think that bombing one spot on the globe is the way to end terrorism when we have seen proof of terrorism in all corners of the world. Despite the destruction of Iraq and Afghan we have not seen terrorist attacks curtail. She is demanding more thought be put behind the actions, not more might. Every administration has helped get us to this point, maybe its time those on the Hill think out of the box. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 21. And the gov't is there to defend the rights of the minority as well. Or did things change when I wasn't looking? Just because you voted "B" instead of "A" you no longer have representation? ps - I didn't post the link because it was from an international source and I knew a few people on here would dismiss it just because of that (aka blind nationalism). _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 22. Either way it is sad. He took his own life and either didn't cry out for help or no one saw the calls for help. It seems he was trying to make some point by traveling to GZ to kill himself. It shows he did put some thought behind this. Obviously he was going to attract attention just because of the location. He made the choice, the media followed up with it because it is a sensational story. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 23. This is going in circles. Now we are back to being pro-active on attacking those that look at us funny? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  24. Let's see - jet fuel, cost of bombs, etc? Hundreds of millions. That is if all goes well. But it starts to add up once a plane gets shot down, we have to rescue pilots, pay for funerals, etc. And I'm sure a country like Iran would be ok with us flying over their borders, attacking their soil and not doing anything in return, right??? They could attack our troops in Iraq or better yet - use it as a reason to attack Israel. Then we would have a possible full blown war on our hands. Now - how much do you think that would cost? But I'm sure it would be the nice and clean version you were hoping for _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 25. Sounds like positive news to me. I'm torn on this issue. Part of it is a serious lack of understanding on the tax code. I tried to have my friend who is becoming a CPA explain it to me this past weekend. There are good arguements for both sides. The reporter however feels that a flat tax would better favor the rich...I'm not so sure about that. If loopholes were removed and there was a 18% tax across the board for everyone, we may be better off. Then again, those that make less will be taxed more than they are now. Like I said, I'm torn and currently trying to educate myself on this topic. However, reading about taxes give me a huge headache. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
