  1. You guys need to give up, Zoters point (best I can figure) is that they didn't have to kill them - and they didn't They could have flown away - safely. Now someone else might have been killed later....MAYBE.....from what MIGHT HAVE been weapons. But we'll never know for sure. My question to Zoter is simple. Since you have combat experience, you have been there before (but don't talk about it) tell us clearly with the information on hand what you would have done differently. I really am serious, maybe I've missed your post (but this has been fun reading today!) about what you think they should have done!
  2. How about, he was looking for a skill set level and you more than likely didn't have the skills he was looking for? (Although he could have chatted longer) Everybody knows of the 500 jump jumper who can out fly a 2,000 jump jumper. But the normal skill line is traced by jump numbers and type. My point is just like life some people will be nice and others won't BUT not eveyone wants to do zoo loads on every jump. If your not known than your going to get asked questions like jump numbers until you are known by people who want to do "better" jumps. Not that I would know anything about "better jumps" Best advise, remeber how you felt as your jump numbers go up and act the way you would have liked!
  3. >Why do so many people let themselves be manipulated by tactics like this? "For the same reason I was manipulated I suppose. A great house at a pretty good price." Bill simple easy question here. If you knew that there was a GOOD chance that the airbase was going to have the shit bomb out of it would you stay in your "great house at a pretty good price" with your children. I feel for the child, I hate the decision making process that left him there.
  4. Just a note of thanks to the crew at Moss Point. Mike Igo makes it one of my favorite places to jump. The staff and local jumpers are great if you ever get a chance to drop by. Also if you get a chance to do something that Tom Jenkin or Jack Burke are putting on do so. They keep the pace going the debriefs positive and fun. The sixty way was cool, but the three pont 40 way was s-l-i-c-k. We had a little bad luck when one of the planes died (on the ground). I'm sure that we would have done at least a two point 60 way. Thanks again for a great time!
  5. Hold it. Bush served in the NG, he could have been called up. He wasn't. He didn't vol. to go - but that is in no way the same as what Clinton did. I don't know the details of Cheny. But the last few post show what I was talking about. The pro Kerry, pro Bush people can beat this to death, but nobody else seems to care.
  6. Hi Dan, I've stayed there several times during some big way stuff. You'll be sleeping in bunk room set ups, several people to a room. We had a guy that snored one time but we moved him to a room that was empty for the next night. The bathrooms have been clean, but I got up early and out early. You might have to wait if it's real full but I've never had to wait more than 10 mins. Speaking of "full" it never has been when I've stayed. I'm not sure if some of the "locals" keep a bed - by just leaving stuff on them. Many had sleeping bags but nobody stayed in them. The kitchen seem well stocked, although I never cooked there. They have rules about parties after hours. They aren't as stricked as I might have liked - but then again I'm old and like my sleep. One night we got up to ask the folks to quiten down and found it was the "house farthers" friends and the worse sin they drink OUR BEER! But they quiten down and the beer was replaced the next day! I haven't stayed since the wind tunnel opened so don't know if it is to load. I would stay again because it is just so damn cheap and easy. You can party at the dz bar and walk to the IHOP. The bar isn't jumping all the time but again good enough for an old guy. Ever time I've stayed there were blankets on the bed, and they had towels for the bathroom. Hope this helps, have fun be safe!
  7. What's interesting to me is that it SEEMED as a country we had put this behind us by electing and re-electing Bill Clinton a man who made it clear he was dodgeing going to Vietnam. (right or wrong isn't the point here) GWB did more than Clinton did by joining the N.G. Kerry WENT, seems to me that would be the ABC's of serving. My point is, is this really an issue that the people really care all that much about? Just a thought
  8. Did I miss something? (I mean it) Has Bush campaign been ridiculing Vietnam-era Purple hearts???
  9. Kallend, Remember the don't vote for the same guy twice rule.
  10. Funny, but is this getting ANY press? I can't find it anywhere. Wonder if it will make the news tonight.
  11. Huh? You mean, if the question is about what your father may or may not have done it's okay to attack some ones's service record but if the question is about someone actions while serving it isn't? My post was off thread, but I was posting about the double standard's not about Kerry's wife.
  12. ".......But some of his supporters I see in the press, on the blogs and other places on the net seem to be, simply, despicable. People who smear a vet's record..........." Sort of like the supporters that attack a man's son about his time in the national gaurd? The one's who smear a vet's record. Two wrongs don't make a right, but how do we reconcile the attacks on Bush's record while being upset when Kerry's record is called into question? "If I were a staunch republican it would make me want to distance myself from such a group of people." In the same token wouldn't we expect the same amount of distance to be placed between the Bush attackers? Just seems there is a double standard here.
  13. Hey Scott, Do you know what Cindy would do to me, if I took a jumper away from the dz?? May 6th -8th (Fri-Sunday) Mike Igo the dzo is looking for packers also. fr
  14. Kallend, Being the engineering fellow you are how would you build the star, next year? I bet they will go after a two point that has a record star in it. fr
  15. lol-you meet me at z-hills last week so I'll let you decide how fat and bald I am. Hope to see you at Moss Point. btw - I'm really surprised that Brain the sky god swooper would even bother to admit that he knows some over the hill big way jumpers!
  16. Notice how the young good looking sky god swoopers get the respones but the fat old balding guy can't even get a packer? I think "Bri" is flying with us. But he'll need a room, I've heard him snore and it is out of control! We may have one more spot in the plane if your nice to old people.
  17. I'm (with others) looking for a packer for the Moss point 60 ways on May 7th-9th. Young good looking women who like to pack for bald, fat old guys are perfered but in a pinch anyone will do. We will be flying from Thomasville Ga and space providing will be glad to comp a slot on the plane. PM me if you are interested. There could be as few as one and as many as five who would want packing. The dz has a shortage of packers for that weekend but this offer is not from the dz!
  18. The jump before the record was a bad funnel. But if you do big ways your going to have them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not always. -jp- (Southern Command My point being was that if you do enough big ways, you WILL have a funnel on one. If you do a few you might not. They are to a degree part of big ways that make the jumps a little more scarey.
  19. "It is indeed sad, but unfortunately I am not yet independently wealthy" That's because you won't vote for the same person twice, John. If you DID. They will start mailing you money. Of course you'll have to change parties. Good to see you again, couldn't find you after the event but thought you were just hiding from me. Glad you made it home, to go to what you call "work" See you at Pop's fr
  20. Hey, All I have to say is: WHAT A ENDING!!! This event had a lot of drama. All big way events have some politics, some bad weather, some hero's, and some zero's. This was one was no different. Of course the real hero's were the bench. These folks should have laughed all the way home. They really pulled it out and I for one was impressed. The jump before the record was a bad funnel. But if you do big ways your going to have them. Some people, because it was late in the seris took it hard - I did to. My plane captain said one very important thing. "You don't leave the battle with one bullet left in your gun" I'm glad we took the effort to try one more time. As far as people who left, or sat out the last jump. EVERYBODY in this sport has the right to sit down for whatever reason. PERIOD. No hard feelings. I believe that 98% of the people who left, had to for travel reasons. Congradulation to the 11-13 suport team members that got on. Hope to see a lot of you folks at the 60 ways next month. Fortson "Bob"
